How do people do this by accident?

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

He found the gun itself and turned it in. Why would he have it with him on purpose when he willingly decided to turn it in? It wasn’t found by airport authorities first.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

You’ve never heard of Black people having a barbecue?

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

It’s always confusing to try to decipher what political positions they are supporting or opposing.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

This is one of the most YouTube modern style view-bait things I’ve ever seen, but I like the topic and content.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I’m kind of confused by the “it should be labeled!” comments as to me, that is decently labeled. The descriptions say “coffee” and “guarana” for each one, and listing the amounts of caffeine is more information than you get for other drinks. It’s not too much to think that the customer (especially someone with a life threatening condition) would read the descriptions.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I’m pretty familiar with the mg amounts based on reading soda labels. That would be 11 glasses of Diet Pepsi, which does sound like a lot.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

But it says right there ‘as much caffeine as our coffee’.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Cities have emission standards. Police could try harder if they wanted to.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t speak German but I’m guessing they’re ticketing/impounding vehicles that have modifications which violate emissions. Sometimes US cops to that to street racers… the problem is that’s because the average officer doesn’t like kids who modify Asian cars but they basically are the same demographic who would modify a truck.

As long as we’re talking about that, the street racing and ‘sideshow’ thing is pretty out of control too. I’d be happy to see them step up enforcement on that bullshit.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

That’s the strange thing. It’s all very inconsistent.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I agree, while I find some communities on certain servers tiresome or too provocative, they might also have communities with interesting humor or discussion about other topics. It’s possible to selectively block communities, isn’t it? I think that’s what lemmy.world did with certain kbin communities that were unmoderated and receiving spam, without fully defederating from kbin.

But you mean, I think, to federate just the posts and not show comments from other instances. That would be an interesting change.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

You mean the person I’m replying to? I’m not super concerned about the anecdote, just relating that I see some points of view there myself that are confusing.

Phishing Mails (lemmy.world)

This will be a quick post. We have received a phishing mail to our [email protected] mail address telling that they are “lemmy.world Security Team”, telling that they will “disconnect” your account from our instance. This is ofc, not us. Do not fall for it! The attached image is how the mail looks like....

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

That’s basically means it’s not from India.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

So, Germany has the population of Texas + Florida + Georgia? Doesn’t sound that large.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

That’s our Fiscal Conservatives. Ready to spend endless money on stupid bullshit but very upset about spending that actually helps the populace.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Well, much larger than molecules, at the strand of hair level. Very wavy or curly hair has an oval profile while straight hair is round.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

My dad is like this with his hearing aids. He can basically hear nothing without them, but he’ll still try to talk to Us. So he gets them, but then says it’s too loud, so he turns it down to where he still can’t hear anything. One of them stopped working, and rather than call the doctor for a replacement, probably under warranty, he’s just like “oh that one stopped working”. So meanwhile, he’s basically impossible to communicate with, but doesn’t tell people “what did you say? I couldn’t hear you”, he just acts like he heard them and then just makes up whatever he thought they said.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

That’s a common saying in the US as well. Never heard of chess blindness, though.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

It’s a UK thing too! Just check out this Cure song

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

My main question is about the garnish… celery? cucumbers?

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Ah, I missed that the hand was filled (?) with Greek salad. Phew, what a treat!

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

That sounds/looks great! Just a giant sandwich pie on rye.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

The weird thing is they resemble his eyebrows

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I love this song so much. Despite being familiar for ~12 years I haven’t seen the video.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

It’s basically an atheistic philosophy. I’m not sure why they decided to theme around a rather controversial and unpopular semi-deity from a religion.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Hot, Active and Top are algorithms.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

A post sorting algorithm doesn’t have to be personalized. When OP asks “has the algorithm changed” it could certainly mean Hot or Active sorting.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I prefer that to something like Facebook or Twitter which tries to guess what you personally want to see.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

It always seemed very self-reinforcing and circular to me, like “we showed you a dog and a cat, you clicked on a dog, so now we show you 8 dogs and 2 cats, and you mainly click on dogs! All dogs from here!”

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Grocery stores, logistics (trucking/railway), electricity, petroleum, cocaine

I> Remember to criticise ideas, and not people.

That’s a nice guideline. I kept trying to explain that to my recent ex… the vast difference between saying “this behavior is unproductive” vs. “you are unproductive”.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Avoiding that is something I learned to do intentionally, I suppose. Labeling the person and not a behavior is more confrontational and psychologically suggests to people that they can’t change. It’s also a lot broader, more sweeping type of statement that suggests all of their behavior is that way.

Thanks, I hope your week is lovely as well.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

It would be nice if it made sense, though. There’s not really time from when a kid gets hone from school (4 pm?) and when a parent gets home from work (6 pm?) for chicken to defrost in the refrigerator.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

In the days of text messaging I don’t know how a kid could forget. It’s “hey kid go do something now”.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Killing the bacteria doesn’t solve the problem of bacterial growth. Bacteria can leave toxins which are not destroyed by heat.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Wash their sheets and pillow cases. Also vacuum. Dust mites are not healthy to have around.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Sometimes people mix up the order of things and thus the cause and effect. For instance, with some medical issues, doctors have thought things like “oh, you went on this extreme diet, then you lost weight and had gastric issues”. No, I lost weight and had gastric issues, so I went on an extreme diet. In this case, i think the misogyny precedes lack of success at finding a partner. It can also be a situation of giving up too soon. For me, middle school and high school were so horrible in various ways that i assumed I was 100% doomed - I didn’t realize that life after 20 is very different. It still has high school social aspects, but it’s a lot better in many ways.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, i drink wine all day and can’t actually read.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, I don’t think it’s recommended in general.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Elron would be so upset if they bought Rivian.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Maybe they mean early social media. That term is somewhat misused, though… social media didn’t start with Facebook or Twitter, it began with Usenet and then forums. And yeah, it wasn’t halcyon days back then. We had the same abusive behavior like trolling, alts, bullying, spam, egos and arguing.

zeppo,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

The early days of Napster were actually good. Things started to suck by the time it got to Limewire or Gnutella, with “hotphotoofgirl.jpg.exe” and whatever. BitTorrent improved the situation.
