More fun and hobby related stuff. Lemmy is depressing and hateful AF. Feels like most of the people here are afflicted by “Politics as a Personality”. At least on Reddit it is pretty easy to avoid that by only subbing to hobby subs but most of those are dead on Lemmy. I switched to using mostly Reddit on my PC again and just using Lemmy on my phone since there is no good mobile reddit app anymore.
Suppose there are two employees: Alice and Bob, who do the same job at the same factory. Alice has a 10 minute (20RT) commute, Bob commutes 35 minutes(70RT)....
Intentionally living farther away from your job doesn’t sound like such an appealing thing though because you are still wasting however much of your day having to drive to work. Like sure you get paid more but the pay is hardly ever worth more than the extra free time.
The problem is almost always with our society and not the technology itself. AI is fine, the way people are using it and the fact that people need jobs to exist in society isn’t.
Duck duck go is practically broken. I switched to startpage which worked alright until I got a VPN, then I just started using bing with better results. So it is somehow worse than bing even. Duck ignores my quotes and minuses and such things.
I have a tiny fridge so I need something I can put in my chest freezer and microwave portions of it to put in a thermos. I’m hoping for minimal prep work, though I have a Vitamix if that helps. All the time I have people come in to work wearing a mask, which is fine normally, good for them, but they are wearing them on their chin, chin diaper style. Not covering up anything. Or at best just their mouth, sometimes. Nobody is making these people wear a mask anymore, so why are they doing it at all if they are just going...
Stuff that brings me joy. Posting left wing political shit on lemmy is like, the epitome of preaching to the choir. Every time I see some unnecessary political take that everyone here agrees with anyway, like there’s always that one person in any thread that has to bring politics into things and I’m just like nope, I’m out. Got better things to do than have my mood ruined by thinking about the worst parts of life. Its like you people are intentionally trying to make everyone miserable.
a bit of a late post today but i’ve been exceedingly busy working on some important stuff on the side and that’s taken up most of my time. things are going pretty good currently and are generally productive.
My new job at the deli is going a lot smoother, we are understaffed and that sucks but my new work boots are way more comfortable so my legs and back aren’t killing me anymore. My coworkers keep my spirits up and my girlfriend is very supportive, so I’m doing pretty alright. I don’t dread going into work every day but I miss all the free time to play around. My time feels more valuable than ever, but at least I can afford my hobbies better now. I think I’m happier overall.
It could be said that blocking traffic benefits oil producers by increasing gasoline usage and making people less sympathetic to the cause against them. Wasn’t there a case of someone in the oil industry paying people to protest in a similarly asinine way?
I hadn’t cried in 7 years and decided to do some emotional exercises to make myself cry. So I managed to cry about 4 months ago, haven’t been able to since even with my grandmothers death. Might start trying again.

I have to wonder what kind of ammo that is really, I’m a firearms enthusiast and have never seen armor piercing ammo for sale anywhere. Pretty sure it is illegal everywhere.
Bethesda has just published a new blog post detailing updates coming to Starfield in the short and long term, including a ton of popular requests, most of them on the technical side, initially.
When the review embargo first dropped, Starfield was sitting at something like an 88 on Xbox and an 89 on PC. Not 90+ the way I think Bethesda may have been hoping, and yet still extremely good.
When lightning came out, the other choice was MicroUSB which is an objectively bad connector that can burn in hell. I hate MicroUSB with a fiery passion. And people were really upset that Apple ditched the 30 pin connector so I cant fault them for keeping lightning so long. Either way I really don’t care because the only thing it changes for me is the cable I keep at my bedside. My data transfers are all done wirelessly. I don’t know why people think this is such a big deal, it is (mostly) just a charging port. As long as it doesn’t break if you breathe on it wrong like MicroUSB I’m happy.
I still have useless 30 pin connector accessories floating around.
I’m trying to finish grabbing a show, but Sonarr says the final season is #3, while the rest of the internet (i.e. torrent sites) says that season is #5. It looks like the first 2 seasons were split up into 1/2 seasons when originally shown. So while Sonarr is looking for Season 3, it’s finding the first half of what it...
I did at first but I’m using Reddit again alongside this because Lemmy is kind of depressing/exhausting, and also doesn’t have a lot of the content I want. Namely firearms and motorcycle stuff, along with lots of food related subs.
I get the feeling a large portion of the Lemmy userbase hates guns and motorcycles. What with all the fuckcars people around. Although I suspect a lot more of them would hate motorcycles than guns, because leftists are pretty split on whether they hate guns or not. I’ve had people tell me that my motorcycle is worse than a car several times.
we’re so back. anyways as you can tell by the other pinned post, we’ve been a little busy with a lot of stuff on the backend and that’s probably going to continue into the foreseeable future
I started a new full time job at a deli, big change from sitting around all day. It is a pretty chill job, everyone is super nice, but my feet/legs/back are killing me. Hopefully the new shoes I ordered arrive today and help out. I’ve been pretty exhausted, but I think I’ll get used to it.
You guys are exhausting. My entire existence is political, I don’t need my social media to be political too. On the bright side, it has me coming on here less and less and less.
