It’s too bad people get rewarded for stupidity. $7 million for storing a can 18 inches above a stove.

I think most of these posts are just bots that are blindly reposting stuff from Reddit

In my area there always seems to be a cash buyer so even if you have a strong offer and are prequalified the seller isn’t going to pick you. They need to heavily tax non-primary residences and housing owned by companies. These robobuyers have destroyed any chance people have of buying a first home.

This. I’ve always done dynamic IPs on my devices and set static IPs for them on my router. Never had an issue.

Eyes are freaky af

Just stared into a lemurs eyes for half a minute aparently (that felt like an hour) and it freaked me tf out. Since been staring into peoples eyes or animals eyes and its consistently weird and freaky no matter what. Also it feels like my conciousness is behind my eyes and maybe thats why they say eyes are the window to the...

It feels like the iPhone keyboard changed and this happens significantly more often now. I think it’s apple trying to “help”

Jesus Christ dude. Do you have a job?

2.5 tons is right in the edge of being able to handle 1400 sq ft. Where do you live? It is two story or one? I think your AC might just not be about to keep up. Nothing wrong with it.

It’s easy to drive someone on to base. After you’re in they could get to the barracks without interacting with anyone. The only person at fault is the marine.

remer,
@remer@lemmy.ml avatar

They only check the driver’s military id most of the time. Imagine how long it would take to get everyone in base if everybody commuting got a full vehicle search every morning.

And the parents reported it to “Catholic authorities” not the police.

Looks like finaly there is a decent alternative to Google Photos (stingle.org)

When I was looking to replace my google tools, I couldn’t find an easy to to alternative Google Photos. Things that were suggested like immich or Synology or ente required some level of technical know how or dedicated hardware. I ended up buying a Synology drive but I have issues with loading images/videos (it’s extremely...

USB-C confirmed for the iPhone 15 in new leaked images - Macworld (www.macworld.com)

We’ve known that the iPhone is switching to USB-C for a while now, but there was always a possibility that Apple would stick with Lightning for one more year. Based on the latest leaked images, however, Apple is all-in on USB-C for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models, with USB-C parts for the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, and...

Frigate can be very powerful if you’re adventurous. It can be a pain to configure but offers basically limitless options. You can even do local facial recognition if you pair it with Double-Take, Deepstack, and/or CompreFace and a cheap tensor processor like Google Coral. frigate.video

For me Uniqlo has taken a turn for the worse. Clothing I bought from them years ago is still in great condition. Things I’ve bought in the last year are falling apart and feel cheaper.

What would you put in a meal if wanted something special from each US state?

Late night thought on a road trip in the US and I can’t stop think what an “All American meal with a great from every state” would consist of. Like something that a state is know for being exceptional in from beef to white tail to peaches to oastets to sunflowers to almonds to coffee. Even better it’s something an...

True. I personally wouldn’t want to host a public instance because of the chance that illegal content could be uploaded and because my isp would take issue with the data usage. I was wondering if someone had done the work in creating something similar. I’ve definitely got the horsepower for a private service share amongst friends and family.

The excellent Arc browser is now available for anyone to download (www.theverge.com)

Arc, a Mac and iOS browser from The Browser Company, has officially launched after being in testing for over two years. The browser’s version number jumped to 1.0, meaning anyone can now download it from arc.net. Arc aims to be more than just a place to view webpages by offering tools for note taking, collaborative workspaces,...

I just started using this a few hours ago and it’s a game-changer.

A few notes:

  1. Go to www.tampermonkey.net to see the extensions for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, and Opera Next. The github page only links to chrome. I’m running it on Firefox and it works great.
  2. Edit the lemmy instance it will work with by opening the extension and going to the Dashboard. Then click the Edit icon under Actions on the right. Add your instance in the ==UserScript== section. For example, I added lemmy.ml by adding the following line, making sure to include the *:

@match lemmy.ml*
