Your Smart TV Knows What You’re Watching (themarkup.org)

These TVs can capture and identify 7,200 images per hour, or approximately two every second. The data is then used for content recommendations and ad targeting, which is a huge business; advertisers spent an estimated $18.6 billion on smart TV ads in 2022, according to market research firm eMarketer.

nick,

That’s why i don’t connect mine to the internet and I black hole suspicious traffic

nick,

That’s not very cache money of you

nick,

Give it up, you sound like either a you don’t know what you’re talking about or a you’re a bootlicker for facebook.

You’re never going to win a pro Facebook argument in this community.

nick,

Bullshit. It’s to prevent AI scrapers, just like Reddit did earlier this year.

nick,

While I am very happy to see twitter burn, I’m gonna be that guy:

Suddenly IBM isn’t ok with nazis? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_and_the_Holocaust

I’m mostly being facetious, because I know things change and maybe that is why IBM is so zero tolerance.

nick,

Oh hell yes, hyperlinks! No more weird kitty alias to inject hyperlinks

nick,

Holy shit I never made that connection.

nick,

Yeah she’s from letterkennt. Same actress.

nick,

Wait starfield is fun to play? News to me

nick,

Next weeks news: same engineers mysteriously all committed suicide by two bullets to the back of each of their heads. Big oil has no comment.

nick,

100% horror, just… in a different kind of way.

nick,

What man? All I see is majestic, majestic hair.

nick,

She doesn’t mention turning off location services. That shit is granular and used as part of the way companies track us.

And even if you turn it off, your location can still be derived by triangulating via cell towers; I’m not sure if that access is widely available or just for law enforcement…. But it I absolutely would not be surprised if it was for sale.

If I were doing this the phone would be turned off when I’m at home, and only used in public or moving in a car; nowhere near my home.

nick,

Or vyvanse. I switch to vyvanse from adderall and it’s been life changing. Adderall worked and was fine, but caused a lot of anxiety.

nick,

The paywall is delicious irony. Or whatever makes the story unreadable until I subscribe.

nick,

Oh man I love playing Andy stott when I’m working or focusing.

nick,

The can follow in daddy’s steps as a failed candidate. Make his work riddled ass proud I guess.

Amazon issues warning about major change for Kindle users starting next month (goodereader.com)

In a recent communication, Amazon has alerted Kindle users about significant changes set to take effect from next month. The notification pertains to the phasing out of support for sending MOBI (.mobi, .azw, .prc) files through the “Send to Kindle” feature, starting November 1, 2023. This change, as News18 pointed out,...

nick,

Hello checking in here.

Last night I finally got calibre and dedrm working. I have around 400 ebooks that I’ve bought from Amazon over the years, but my trust in Amazon has been eroded to the point I want local, drm-stripped copies in case they take the books back; it has happened, but not to me yet.

The first book I converted: 1984.

nick,

I do, for now, yep. And yeah you’re probably right, I’ve never down the push to device thing.

I’m going to start buying my books elsewhere though, and suspect they will be epub format.

nick,

I accidentally killed wyl via a cutscene and she was furious. I had to reload, it hurt my heart how mad she got at me

nick,

That’s the one! And yeah she goes from cuddly to RAGEEEE real easily. She’s my favorite ever.

nick,

Evidently if you make them bards, they have a whole new round of voice acting lines. loke the actors specifically recorded a bunch of bard lines, just in case you made them one. I’d make karlach a bard but she’s so strong as barb

nick,

Same. I’m paying ten bucks a month to Kagi, no complaints

nick,

I always thought it was crazy that no one knew how the purred. Guess we do now

nick,

Life changing. I was on adderall for a while and the focus was just amazing. Unfortunately I was taking it with several cans of Red Bull and they lead to panic attacks.

I cut out the caffeine and switched to vyvanse and it’s been great.

nick,

Would you kindly play bioshock?

nick,

Sorry but I said the magic words, you have no choice but to play bioshock.

Those who have been on prescribed stimulants for many years (>5), how do you manage tolerance and crashing?

I have been on ADHD meds for about 7.5 years now. I started with Vyvanse and my dose was at 70mg in the first year. I was having bad crashes at night, so I switched to Adderall 40mg with 10mg Dexidrine and stayed on it for a few years. Recently, I switched to Concerta 90mg because my tolerance was getting too high and it...

nick,

I take 30mg of vyvanse every week day (for work). I don’t suffer the crashes I did on adderall, which is nice. I do not take them on the weekend usually to avoid tolerance buildup.

I was on staterra previously and it didn’t do anything other than make my dick stop working. No good.

nick,

Sublime on my laptop, vim remotely over ssh

nick, (edited )

While this is hella goofy, it looks like the bolts were already in place for a larger flange. And they just kinda… made do. Sorta.

nick,

My first week at my current tech job, our ceo gave a little presentation. He said, and I quote, “we ain’t a family. I like everyone here, but make no mistake: we’re a business”

We’re a pretty small (bout 150 at the time) company.

I really really enjoyed that honesty from him.

nick,

I feel this all too well. Lost my 18 year old kitty to kidney disease and all kinds of other comorbid stuff in june.

It hurts for a long tine, but slowly dims after a while. Now I miss her but I know she’s not suffering with anything now. She can rest comfortably.

Hang in there friend. Treasure the joy you two had.

nick,

This doesn’t seem right, but it’s what PictureThis said. https://i.imgur.com/SE0CkCV.jpg

nick,

Google cloud consoles require chrome for IAP attention. That is a concrete example of Firefox not working on a site.

I use Firefox, but I also know it has its issues. Don’t be a zealot.

nick,

Page won’t load in Firefox, making it an issue. I don’t care what the root cause is, and also I already knew all of that.

nick,

I switched to it a couple weeks ago from FF/arc. No issues so far, and I’m pretty happy.

nick,

I haven’t found a way, even the widgets are unreadable on some backgrounds. Kind of a miss on their part, unless I’m just stupid here.

nick,

Hey anonymous dumb enough to sign up kinda deserves it imo.

nick,

I’m going to take the opposite stance here and hope some of his most devoted sycophants end up even more brain damage.

We’re way past being polite about this Nazi and his enablers.
