That would make you default on the payment and they’ll pass it to debt collection. Only do this if you reasonably tried everything else (and documented your attempts) before using that option.

So many apps that we use nowadays are based on Electron, which is a web browser by itself. Those using Discord, Spotify, etc will want to update their app ASAP.

I unlinked my phone number

I won’t give them my phone number again to login

Google already knows your phone number, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to do that to protect the account from theft, especially after several months of inactivity and without any other means to verify the account ownership.

Emulating those platform is significantly more resource intensive since you need to emulate the entire architecture and interpret the assembly code, while more modern game consoles are running either ARM or x86/amd64 which makes emulating relatively simpler.

FYI the fingerprints are stored and processed locally through a secure element, which the OS relies on to approve or deny access.

They never leave the device.

Why Do Companies Not Use Existing 2FA Standards?

This is something I am seeing more and more of. As companies start to either offer or require 2FA for accounts, they don’t follow the common standards or even offer any sort of options. One thing that drives me nuts is when they don’t offer TOTP as an option. It seems like many companies either use text messages to send a...

Steam is using their own implementation that is also used for getting push notifications when selling an item on their kind of marketplace.

I don’t use that feature, so having a standard 2FA would be nice as I could back it up like all the others…

If you’re willing to go the DIY route, ESPHome might be what you’re looking for.

A Sonoff controller on the lamp, linked to a small Home Assistant server (a cheap Raspberry Pi could do) wouldn’t be too expensive and would run locally.

The Conservative leader has called on Trudeau to “come clean” about the evidence behind the allegation against India, saying Canadians deserve more facts.

Poilievre has so far rejected getting the clearance needed

Of course he’s gonna complain about it instead of getting his clearance to review the material and make a well-informed complaint about it.

The McDonald’s app on Android. I don’t know if they use the same version of the app in the US and in Canada, but Jeeezus Christ on a bike the app is slow, both on WiFi and mobile data, and that’s on a Pixel 7 Pro.

They can’t retroactively change the license, doubly so if it’s an open-source license, as that would break the contractual agreement made with existing users when they accepted the license terms.

And if the previous license used allows for redistribution, then the existing users are still allowed to redistribute the software under the previous terms, which makes the previous license still valid for new users since they don’t have to acquire the software from the original source and are bound to the license it originally came with.

It’s a legal can of worms you don’t want to open.

FOSS RSS Reader app with chatgpt summarizer.

There is an app called FocusReader which does exactly above using user provided chatgpt Api key. I dont want to use api rather authentication in browser since api costs. If app is foss its better. If someone does it the open-source way, I’d expect them not to use a proprietary summarizer, preferably running locally for privacy.

Solid Explorer, since I can mount an SFTP volume using keyfile authentication.

The only thing I don’t like is that it uses its own file encryption system instead of a more open solution like Cryptomator. I know Cryptomator exists, but I can’t access SFTP volume using keyfile authentication with it…

Elon Musk demanded a cameo in Cyberpunk 2077 while wielding a 200 year old gun: "I was armed but not dangerous" (www.pcgamer.com)

While Elon’s then-partner Grimes was recording her part in the game as cyborg popstar Lizzy Wizzy, the erratic tech billionaire turned up with an antique firearm to “insist” on being included in the game. “The studio guys were like sweating,” Grimes is quoted as saying. Musk adds “I told them that I was armed but not...
