Most communities from LemmyNSFW since I still want to see non-porn NSFW content.

I have an alt account for that purpose.

0.19 will make that way cleaner with the ability to block instances at the user level.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Hopefully the instance block feature let you choose between blocking only the posts or block both the posts and comments from that instance.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Sometimes I like to expand my horizon and browse “All” to find new communities, and blocking communities I have no interest in makes it easier to cut the noise.

It’s good to keep in mind that while it does improve the overall security of the account, a 2FA/TOTP code can still be phished, so if the user encounters a fake login page and supply his password and 2FA code, it could let an attacker pass the intercepted credentials to the real login page in the background and gain access. Most websites using TOTP will not allow reusing a code more than once in the same time slot, but that’s a moot point if the 2FA code is intercepted without being entered on the legitimate website, but in your case of making a demonstration that would not be a security concern.

It’s important for the user to ensure they’re accessing the legitimate website before typing any credentials and 2FA code.

A safer option nowadays is FIDO2/Passkeys, which will not provide a valid 2FA challenge-response in the case of a spoofed/phishing website, further reducing the possibility of a breach.

First, cut it with the R-word, and stop looking for validation with strangers on the Internet. You won’t gain anything from it, doubly so if you’re posting incorrect info.

That said, it’s okay not to know something, but first you need to acknowledge that you don’t know, then take the time to acquire said knowledge if you think it will be useful down the road. Trying to be right all time time at any cost is not going to help you, use that energy to actually learn something.

Correct, and they could technically be at risk of getting their account banned if they consider those as possible alt-accounts for ban evasion too.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

They most likely don’t rely on a single metric to determine if someone is evading a ban. False-positives can happen though.

Mostly FB Messenger because I can’t get my relatives to use anything else :/

The lemmy.world admins must have banned him, as I still see the user on my home instance. Hopefully the infosec.pub admins handle it soon.

They however cannot use the trademark without the owners consent.

They’re free to fork the code, but not to reuse the same name.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

I suppose the MPL is permissive enough to allow this, which makes Firefox for iOS a possibility.

It would be covered under “common law” trademark rights even if the name and logo were not officially registered, as long as they can reliably prove the legitimate use of the name prior to the copycat.

Indeed, it’s mostly hardware-accelerated nowadays.

The sooner Android accepts RCS is dead, the sooner we can choose the next messaging platform that matters (www.androidpolice.com)

I’m just sitting here frustrated because I’m wanting my family to move away from messaging me over SMS (they mainly use iOS), but they refuse to download any extra apps. But Google’s RCS really doesn’t look like a solution either since it mainly just seems to be a way of enforcing Android as an ecosystem, and they...

Either Apple takes its head out of its ass, or it’s always going to be fragmented, RCS or otherwise.

I did a Ctrl+F on the homepage and didn’t find any hit for that word.

With that kind of surface area to cover, and with how higher frequencies are not passing through these kinds of walls easily, you’ll have trouble finding a single router that covers it all.

You could try a router that can do a mesh network with a dedicated wireless backhaul to ensure good coverage, but if the walls are impeding the signal too much for the wireless backhaul to operate to a satisfactory speed then you may need to go with a wired backhaul, which is to run Ethernet wires from the main router to the mesh nodes.

I’d leave a terrible review solely based on this, fuck everything about that.

At least add an HDMI port below the TV as a part of the cabinet if you don’t want customers to fiddle behind the TV…

I wouldn’t mind seeing this in a Cyberpunk 2077 update :3

What are some good somewhat older smartwatches that have a heart rate sensor and work with modern versions of Android?

I have been using a Pebble Time Steel for years even after their acquisition by Garmin Someone corrected me it was FitBit not Garmin thanks to Rebble, a modded firmware that gives it new life, but I would like a smartwatch that can track my heart rate....

mp3,

If you want something similar in terms of display and size, take a look at the BangleJS2, which is also supported by Gadgetbridge.

The firmware and the user-made apps are all open-source.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

It least there was a mod on PC to quickly get rid of it, but that sucked for people playing on consoles…

I love how the cyberwares and crafting systems were revamped so that you can’t really become godlike too easily.

But God has the challenge of starting with a minuscule room, expand the cabling as it goes without being able to unplug or replace any cables or move servers during the lifetime of the system, and can’t afford any downtime or shutdown for maintenance.

You don’t even need a browser

winget install Mozilla.Firefox

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

In beta it does, Stable should get access to the entire addons list around December IIRC

Of course addons that weren’t updated with mobility in mind might not work as well.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Doesn’t look like a good time for sure.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

The only winning move with that platform is not to play with it at all. It’s a privacy hellhole.

So instead of having a responsible and comprehensive overview of the whole picture, he just keep to spew uncertainty and gaslight everyone instead. Great PM material /s

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

So it’s not just Trudeau you don’t trust, but the whole justice system?

And you think Pierre will be better as he publicly undermines and erode the trust of the justice system, the SOIA which is why security clearance exists and that he will need if he becomes PM, and democracy itself with his rhetoric on social media? I’ve got bad news for us all if that kind of thinking prevails.

Pierre isn’t talking for the people, he’s talking for his own benefit. He just wants a throne like any other cronies.

Is there an equivalent to “thin client” mode of Deluge, where you can connect the desktop version to a server and control it as if it was a local install, but the server does all the legwork?

It really makes the whole thing seamless.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

It does, but it feels more integrated. Clicking a magnet link or opening a torrent file is handled natively by the OS and pass it over to the native app, which talks to the Deluge server if used in thin client mode. It’s really neat.

Best I can get upload-wise where I live is 20mbps, and I’m not even in a rural area.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Yeah just host the server elsewhere. You don’t need all the media files to reside on the actual server either, you can just mount the external data using FUSE/rClone or something and cache the most requested data.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

I’m on Android, I rely on Photo Editor for more than converting images but it’s definitely able to open HEIC image and save them to another format.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Don’t worry about it, glad you posted this and I wishlisted it.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

What’s even cooler is that you can set up untrusted node(s) to store an E2EE copy of the data.

I use a cheap VPS like that so if none of my other nodes are online they can still sync to that VPS. Without the encryption key, no one can read the data in case of a compromised server or the VPS owner trying to snoop.

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

Currently I’m using CloudAtCost. It’s really shitty (to put it mildly), but it doesn’t cost a lot so I just use it for really unimportant stuff that I don’t really care if they shit the bed,
