Buy franchise -> quickly eventually release sequel -> spend time making sequel as good as previous game -> quickly release another sequel -> repeat

Amazingly, Valve actually fought off the scalpers. At least in the US. 6 hours later and everything seems to still be in stock, including the LE. It’s still a rough ride ordering though, with 502 errors constantly.
I can’t think of any hardware that Valve has abandoned. Sure they’ve stopped making plenty, but pretty much everything is still supported, and in many cases works even better because the software developed for them still exists and gets updated(SteamVR, Steam Input, Steam Link, etc). Closest you can get to abandonment were the Steam Machines, and even then they were just PCs and you could easily install another Linux Distro on them, or even Windows.
According to the guys who left, Management forced unrealistic targets on the Editor in Chief, then used him not meeting those targets as an excuse to fire him. Everybody else quit in response.
I kinda like how the US OTA channel H&I airs an episode of TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT six nights a week. 5 hours of Star Trek almost every night is pretty awesome. They just progress through each show in release order, until they finish all the seasons and loop back to start over again.
Seriously, I’m always confused by people complaining about NASA’s budget. It’s peanuts in comparison to the other stuff our Government wastes money on. Also doesn’t help that the government itself is responsible for a lot of the money wasting that happens at NASA. The Artemis program being the perfect example, which is basically just a glorified jobs program at this point, as mandated by the government, instead of actually being a smart way of building a rocket.
Seriously. This year for a similar amount per night, while I didn’t get a whole house to myself,
Just a two bed room, bathroom, desk, mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker to myself.
I got an actually good free breakfast every day, a pool, a gym, free room cleaning, free Internet, and there was like a mini food store next to the front-desk if I needed food in the middle of the night.
Sure there are crap hotels, but if you read reviews it’s not too hard to find decent ones. And there’s usually no surprise extra fees.
Pretty much the only issue I ran into was at one hotel, the claimed free breakfast was watered down coffee, a waffle maker, cereal, and frozen solid orange juice. Had to go out for breakfast every morning which was annoying.
The reason for Android's Notification system being better than iOS, is solely due to the ability to turn off individual aspects of an application's notifications.
Google, the poor multi-billion dollar scrappy startup that maintains Android, made a payment app that has one notification setting, "Google Pay". So all the ads, promotions, everything.
3rd party apps like PhonePe & Paytm have a better system.
Denuvo doesn’t prevent games working on Steam Deck, but depending on how it’s implemented it can cause other problems like preventing a game from launching if it hasn’t been able to connect online in a while, or weird performance issues. It varies from game to game.
Future Motion, the maker of the Onewheel electric skateboard, is recalling every one of them, including 300,000 Onewheel self-balancing vehicles in the US. Ad blockers don’t even modify websites usually. Many just block web requests to certain domains and addresses. You can’t force people to load stuff, that sets a dangerous precedent for protecting against malware. Glad this German court saw reason.
You can disable that feature, and some people do because they get tired of the constant downloads and shaders taking up space for games they haven’t even played yet.
C:UsersUsernameSaved Games is a thing. Not a lot of games use it though.
There’s also C:UsersUsernameDocumentsMy Games which seems more popular with some devs. Though some devs inexplicably use the base Documents folder, which is just obnoxious.
But yeah, a lot of devs still use AppData. I read a post from a dev once that explained the advantages and disadvantages to each Directory, though I can’t remember the specifics, there is at least logic to why saves get stored in so many odd locations.
There were hints yesterday, but today it’s official. Valve has started over hauling SteamVR, using the SteamDeck and Big Picture improvements as a basis. More to come....
