glorious_albus,

Long after the human race is dead, bots will be the only presence online. They’ll repost the same posts and they’ll make the same comments and replies and upovote each other till the end of eternity.

glorious_albus, (edited )

Wait what are they doing on Android?

glorious_albus,

Used to use lastpass before they became paid. I haven’t even remembered that until I read your comment. Bitwarden is great.

glorious_albus,

What is 12ft?

glorious_albus,

Ah got it, thanks.

The great enshittification continues.

glorious_albus,

Asus makes small phones (for now).

glorious_albus,

I’m not a mobile app developer so I’m a bit confused. Why would every class need to refer the app name? Isn’t it enough of the pom file (or whatever the equivalent is that has to package the app) knows it?

glorious_albus,

I guess it’s just the increase in the ease of availability of internet.

glorious_albus,

Don’t worry, you’ll soon be saying “2023 wasn’t such a bad year after all”

glorious_albus,

Some ads open the play store Store anyway when you click the close button. So rage inducing.

glorious_albus,

Exact same boat. It was so easy to migrate from lastpass, I didn’t even feel any friction.

glorious_albus,

Why and how do you have a Twitter check mark next to your name?

glorious_albus,

Every Indian language I know has the “th” sound.

Further reading here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tha_(Indic)

glorious_albus,

Yeah you’re right.

The th in American pronounciation of thigh is closer to “s” than to the Indian th I was talking about. I take back what I said.

glorious_albus,

That’s my first suggestion for anyone who wants to try sci-fi. What a legendary book!

Been a Tchaikovsky fan ever since.

glorious_albus,

Oh yeah. Reading book 3 right now. Love these characters. I’ll miss them when I finish.

glorious_albus, (edited )

What an Indian day to have eyes.

Edit: unfortunate

glorious_albus,

Guess my autocorrect failed me lol

What alternative Android apps do you use for online platforms that are currently in the enshittification phase? (lemmy.world)

Obviously the ideal thing to do would be to stop using them entirely, but if you’re like me and you still have that one subreddit you still need to check on, some of your friends are still there, or you can’t find alternatives to YouTube’s content, then maybe you’re also looking for alternative front-ends that would at...

glorious_albus,

ReVanced Extended is the shit. Unfortunately the dev seems to have stopped work on it, so might have to switch back to ReVanced at some point.

glorious_albus,

github.com/inotia00/ReVanced_Extended/activity

The dev has archived the repo now. I read somewhere he’s irritated with people messaging him after installing from the auspicious sources you mentioned.

glorious_albus,

Waiting for the inevitable Gabe comment.

glorious_albus,

When you want to access a website, the server will ask your browser “Is the user’s environment good for me to show my website?” and will only provide you the website if your browser agrees. What this essentially means is that ad blocking or any other scripting on your side could make your browser say “No, there’s some fuckery going on” and you would no longer be served the page.

glorious_albus,

Any idea on what happens to DNS level blockers?

glorious_albus,

Alphabetical I guess? No idea why lemmy.world is last though.

glorious_albus,

Wouldn’t be surprised at all.

glorious_albus,

TL;DR: Some simulation tools will be made available on MacOS soon.

glorious_albus,

Now there’s a blast from the past

What online games can be played by 2 users?

I have an online friend from the other side of the globe. We met in chess.com. But I’d like to try a different game this time. We are not console gamers, but have smartphones. Are there any online games we can try for free that can be played real-time? Looking for something light and can be played in the phone browser.

glorious_albus,

Believe it or not, it’s the same guy that made Wikipedia. Apparently he was sad he couldn’t monetize it, so went ahead and made the cancer that is fandom.

Disclaimer, this is something I’ve read on different threads on reddit, so take it with a pinch of salt.

glorious_albus,

I don’t think threads is federated yet. They just have plans for it.

glorious_albus,

Considering how toxic reddit was getting, I’m okay if lemmy doesn’t get close to it.

Do People in Third World Countries Have Stronger Immune Systems Than People in First World Countries?

There have been reports of YouTubers I watch getting sick after eating food in third world countries. However, these countries are also home to a large number of people who do not get sick from eating the same food. I think this suggests that the locals may have developed stronger immune systems. What do you think?

glorious_albus,

Yep. I’m in India and my friends who’ve moved out of the country are ill for the first couple of days when they come here for a vacation.

glorious_albus,

Firefox was great, went to shit for a couple of years, and is now back to being great again. I’ve heard it’s much easier on memory as well.

It’s one of the few non-chromium browsers left, so you should definitely try it because Google is trying to make their own standards with chromium.

glorious_albus,

For sure, with my eyes closed. My 520 and 720 were by far the most aesthetically pleasing phones I’ve ever used.

glorious_albus,

It was ahead in many ways. Iirc, windows was the first phone OS to include in built swipe typing.
