It’s a fickle place here

Now this is what I call thinking outside the box

franklin,

I wonder if the death note works off the name registry, birth name or chosen name. How do name changes work in universe.

That could lead to some odd hijinks.I wonder how Light would have tested that one.

@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

I figured this out pretty quick when I was 16 trying to calculate the optimal pizza per $ order when I first started getting allowance

@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

7600x and 6950XT over here, all I see is red!

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

Your premise is flawed the only reason it falls under the principles of inelastic demand is because of the way our country is structured for cars, if you use the tax to make systemic changes, making public transit and walking/biking possible this is no longer true.

I’m not saying it’s an easy transition but it is a necessary one and Norway and Denmark proves it’s possible

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

Security, we’re going to need you over in section K2, we have a code 308, multiple violations.

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

Security, count that as 316 too.

How often to you bail on a half-written post or response?

I have had a tendency since my earliest days on social media where I will get halfway or more through a response, and end up just cancelling it. Sometimes I feel like I’m just being to over the top with snark or otherwise don’t want to be that kind of person, but a lot of the time I’ll decide I just really don’t care...

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

It’s hard for me to self evaluation how often I’m right but if I’m asserting something with confidence I hold myself to rigorous proof.

If I’m just chatting about beliefs it’s a bit different but if I’m asserting something as fact I try not to say anything I can’t show the receipts for to check myself for misinformation.

If this process is too much work I just say nothing.

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

I’m so fuckin old dude

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

Unfortunately much like America we have a system that punishes split votes with this is mind the question becomes less who do you want and more who do you really not want?

Regardless this is great news and good on the NDP

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

Terrible take. Just because the system sucks doesn’t mean there’s no nuance between the two.

This attitude has spurred apathy and allowed Republicans to stifle progress.

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

I think you need to have a talk with your youth pastor about these alternative truths.

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

With audio and app specific sharing? As of 8 months ago I couldn’t do it but I might have missed it

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

Mad respect for sticking with it, it might not have launched in a great place but it would have been easy to cut and run as others have.

They went above and beyond to show they were committed to the game.

@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

Have all that I could need at the moment but i’d like to take this opportunity to wish others a Merry Christmas

franklin, (edited )
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

We need new zoning policies.

The only civilian housing allowed to be built in most areas is single family, low density housing which manufactures scarcity.

There’s also the requirement for driveways and huge front lawns that ensure car dependency further raising the effective cost of living.

We don’t need skyscrapers but we do need something more dense than the traditional single family homes as the cost to maintain our cities and to live as individuals balloon to unforeseen levels.

We’ve taken a lot from Americans and lessons about how to run a city should never be one of them.

franklin, (edited )
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

Agreed, I love walking through old Montreal and Quebec City. Old cities (mostly The ones that predate the popularization of the car) feel so much more alive than other cities mostly due to their people first design and interesting architecture

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

I can’t speak to BC as I’m from NL and have only spent time in here, Ontario and Quebec.

Much of the problem here is that new developments are all low density, we have high density but it’s business facing or was full since it was built, anything built from the 90s onward was low density.

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

Can I just have good public transit, or safe bike lanes, I don’t even want a car.

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t even think you have to fix every issue. Human existence by nature requires us to use and change our environment and our job is to minimize that so we can continue living on this planet.

Both of those examples solve our issues to a point where they’re non-existent. Yes, they’re still produced but they’re well within our manageable amounts and would reverse much of the damage we did if we did them on mass.

I’m not even necessarily against electric cars. I just don’t want one personally, I don’t think they’re great or even the solution, but they’re certainly better than combustion. They just still aren’t great, especially when we already have the actual solutions.

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

Agreed. If it was any company at all except Amazon there would be hope but come on. We’ve all seen what they did to the fire sticks

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah fair, not ANY company

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

I think the racoons did it.

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

He can’t and as another commenter pointed out his health panel submitted a research paper along with a recommendation to move cannabis to a schedule three drug.

He’s already doing what you want it’s just not loud about it so you don’t know.

If you wanted to be fully legal you’re going to need to start writing your congressional representatives because they’re the ones who can do it

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

Look I hate a two party system as much as the next person but the both sides are the same thing is just not true, don’t say it.

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

Gottem lol

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

I just hope asahi Linux takes of because the M3 looks sick but I’ll be fucked if I get sucked into the apple ecosystem. I’d rather be forced to use Windows on arm.

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

And brake pads please change your brake pads occasionally

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

Seems like you outted yourself as cringe.

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

I know we all get off on a little Apple hate from time to time, why do so many of these things feel they need to make shit up? There’s so much real shit they do that you could just make fun of

Moderate exercise for 20 minutes daily is also important for sleep regulation.

Although I will preface all this advice with the fact that if your natural circadian rhythm does not line up with the time you sleep your quality of sleep will always remain degraded.

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

It’s because your bodies circulation rhythm is different from the sleep schedule imposed on you, I have the same issue

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t mind sex scenes but I’m so over forced, low stakes, softcore sex scenes between characters that have nonexistent chemistry.

I still think it’s best when it’s artfully implied and brief between characters with chemistry.

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

Holy mother of based someone on this site who actually reads the fucking study

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

They learned after big head heard everything lol

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t know if you can have that ideology without it eventually turning into what it currently is.

franklin, (edited )
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

Those sound like a great ideas, although I have to question the immense burden it would put on any governing authority, still seems better than the current system though.

As a counterpoint, stock markets (or any structured form of capital investment) require infinite growth, not only is this unsustainable, but it will always prioritize the profit motive over ethical concerns.

In addition, in a market where capital controls expansion, it will always benefit those with capital and by extension power to loosen those regulations.

To summarize, regulation will win you the battle but never the war.

I was interested too so I tried to search it up The only relevant entry I found was on the Star wars rebels wiki, which doesn’t seem to support the claim but with how often this stuff gets retconed this could easily be out of date.

Thrawn and Vader first met during the Clone Wars on a Mission to Batuu, where they pursued the Separatists for their own reasons. Thrawn fought alongside Jedi General Anakin Skywalker, which left Skywalker impressed with Thrawn and Thrawn impressed with Skywalker. They later met again, but this time as Darth Vader. Due to Thrawn’s meeting with Skywalker in the Clone Wars, Thrawn was able to figure out that Skywalker and Vader are the same person after witnessing similarities that they share. Thrawn was one of if not the only Imperial who wasn’t afraid of Vader and was one of the few officers who actually respected Vader for his commitment and loyalty to the Empire. Vader in turn held great respect for the Grand Admiral’s intelligence and strategic influence. Although, Vader’s respect was somewhat tarnish for the Grand Admiral after his failure to capture the rebels on Atollon, Vader still respected and trusted the Grand Admiral during their second mission to Batuu to investigate a disturbance in the Force. Although Vader was fed up with Thrawn consistent trolling efforts to deduce that Darth Vader was in fact the Jedi General Anakin Skywalker he fought alongside so many years ago. When Thrawn started making the TIE Defender project, Vader was one of the officers who supported Thrawn’s project and told Thrawn to make some modifications on it, which lead to the TIE Defender Elite.

Samsung joins Google in RCS shaming Apple (www.theverge.com)

Samsung has released a new video in support of Google’s #GetTheMessage campaign which calls for Apple to adopt RCS or “Rich Communication Services,” the cross-platform protocol pitched as a successor to SMS that adopts many of the features found in modern messaging apps… like Apple’s own iMessage.

franklin,
@franklin@lemmy.world avatar

So essentially they’re just as bad as RCS. Both hamstrung by the limitations of their encryptions interoperability
