That’s why I could never get into these games, even at the start as a WC3 map. So little time to actually assess what your choices are. You either need a dozen sessions to actually read everything or just someone to tell you what the good characters and items are.

The laptops themselves are usually quite good. But I tend to prefer the vanilla experience on the software side. Somehow they always put their own spin on it, like some stupid OEM software, outdated drivers or just their own wallpaper. And they often have Gnome as the default DE and I prefer KDE.
I’m just waiting for one issue to be tackled in Bazzite so that I can get rid of SteamOS on my Steam Deck.

I’ve started using BTRFS on my laptop with OpenSUSE and on my Steam Deck. It does two things for me, which I’m interested in. On OpenSUSE it does a snapshot before every system update. So if anything goes wrong I can easily roll back.
On the Steam Deck I love the deduplication. It’s really great for a ton of Windows games that all need their own little “Windows” environment which amounts to a GB or two per game. With BTRFS I only use that space once.
I used a script that did everything for me, so I’m not 100 % sure. But as far as I know you enable the feature at mount time and then every time you copy something only a reference is copied until you actually do a change to the new or old file.
For everything else a cronjob runs every week or so to search for unnecessary duplicates.

Long Covid has me isolated from society at large anyways. I am not even exactly a night owl. It just so happens that my sleeping habits have become completely removed from mortal something somethings (insert your own intellectually sounding word, my brain is borked). I fall asleep when I’m tired and I wake up when I’m done sleeping.
At the moment that amounts to starting my sleep at about 4 or 5 am. But that is always subject to change. I just can’t force my sleeping cycle anymore, the health impact is too large.

Supposedly the display in the SD is resistant to burn-in. Of course, I wouldn’t want to put that to the test. But considering that you’d get the same problem with many old school games where a bright HUD is always at the same position I think you can trust Valve on that.
