assembly,

Why doesn’t your house meet the requirements out of curiosity? I think most dryer outlets are 220 and I’ve been told if you can run a dryer you can charge a car. My parents just use the standard 110v outlet and are happy.

assembly,

Ahhhh. I didn’t think of that. Having an electrician out is never cheap.

assembly,

Well I guess no one can say he is faking the persona. Definitely not a poseur

assembly,

If the Senate passes this, I think it still needs to go through the House which is in recess until the new year (pretty sure). I am just so pissed that we couldn’t get this through already and it’s turned into a political issue. This should be a topic that universally unites all Americans and the world.

assembly,

It’s just hard to ignore when we is responsible for holding up funding for Ukraine.

assembly,

I got a Rocky Linux shirt directly from them. I didn’t think the shirt material was great as it was that kinda rough cotton but happy I was able to support. If anyone from Rocky Linux reads this, I’d buy another shirt if it was softer!

assembly,

That was really intense and they kept it all together. Amazing.

assembly,

That man is a hero! Talk about bravery and going above and beyond…need more folk like that in this world.

assembly,

I am never buying Oreo or Ritz crackers as they are made by Mondelo which is on the Russian sponsor list for the invasion of Ukraine.

assembly,

Very interesting. I’m searching around for some type of movie database that can help recommend films by life experience to align with this now to see if I can find something. Super cool.

assembly,

Since you seem to be versed on this, is it a functioning artillery piece? Like could you actually fire something out of it and would you need to make your own shells or can they be bought?

assembly,

I have a pretty high end gaming computer with glass sides and they put stickers on it and draw on it. I think it’s fun. They also put stickers all over the inside of my Jeep which remind me of them. They draw on some walls too and sometimes with me alongside since it’s nothing a future coat of paint and primer can’t fix.

assembly,

Looks like we got a turret toss contender. Who is keeping track of the turret height records?

assembly,

What ordinance did that drone drop that practically vaporized that position? I wonder if it was an artillery shell dropped from a drone?

assembly,

I commented on another post of this but I am so confused as to motive. I mean if it was purely to down a plane, wouldn’t he have done it when he was flying it and not off duty? This is just weird.

How to deal with Ancient aliens in the workplace?

Two of my coworkers frequently mention shows like “Encounters” or “Ancient apocalypse” or whatever. I’m not the best at debating or forming arguments against these though I do feel strongly that bold claims require better evidence than a blurry photo and an eyewitness account. How do you all go about this?...

assembly,

Are you sure they are taking it seriously? I’ve watched a bunch of Ancient Aliens and it was fun entertainment so long as it is recognized as just entertainment. The main voice in the show makes me fall asleep so I’ve technically had most episodes play across my screen. Me and coworkers make comments regularly that “it’s aliens man” as the reason for things. None of us see it as more than humor and maybe that’s the case with your people.

assembly,

Yarrr….im going to blame this on Memmy as I really believe I hit the correct button and Memmy moved my comment. It’s easier to blame the app than move the comment.

assembly,

Life goal right there. Didn’t even know you could go in there but at some point in the future I’d like to visit Ukraine and do that.

assembly,

Should have thrown up some Rocky or Alma.

assembly,

This is a “actively, methodically, violently, and intentionally skull fuck the climate” type of policy.

The article mentions that Goldman signed the contract as a way into the consumer credit market and it looks like they want out. Out of both the Apple deal and consumer credit card market. So it sounds like they made some pretty big and terrible decisions here. Not just the deal with Apple but the entire strategy.

assembly,

Wow an indoor pool. This must be in some CEO’s house or perhaps a rock star? Is this the inside of the Playboy mansion???

Computer chip with built-in human brain tissue gets military funding (newatlas.com)

Last year, Monash University scientists created the “DishBrain” – a semi-biological computer chip with some 800,000 human and mouse brain cells lab-grown into its electrodes. Demonstrating something like sentience, it learned to play Pong within five minutes. They allowed the brain cells to act on the paddle, moving it...

The UN has consistently voted against Russia on this. There are a handful of authoritarian that back Russia but globally support for Ukraine is unparalleled.

assembly,

They do not forget! I had Comcast/Xfinity from 2005-2022. They wanted to charge me for an old cable box from 2005 that I didn’t have when I cancelled service. Turns out it was in the back of my garage and super rusty but they accepted it. They also said that while they would charge me if I didn’t have it, they are going to throw it out as it’s no longer supported and corroded.

assembly,

The Russians truly do not give a shit about anything besides the ego of supreme leader.

assembly,

Hey no lowballers I know what I got.

assembly,

This is amazing! I hope it stays compatible with the EPEL repositories. I see no reason not to start using it when available. If it maintains compatibility I could see Rocky or Alma starting to follow this as well.

assembly,

Is there a chance that he could push the trial back that far? It shouldn’t be allowed to happen. Imagine he gets re-elected and pardons himself. That is going to make the election insanely stressful for everyone.

assembly,

I laughed way too hard at this and forwarded to too many people.

assembly,

I’m sure everything is fine…just time to drop another ice cube in the ocean.

assembly,

As I put on my robe and wizard hat…

assembly,

This is the second time I’ve seen this mentioned regarding the Toyota battery breakthrough. I’ve been let down by similar release announcements more times than I can count in the past but not by a company as reputable as Toyota. Could this be legit? It would absolutely change everything. It would make battery flight practical. I don’t want to get my hopes but but it’s hard not to imagine how fundamentally this could shift the world. I sincerely hope this comes out.

assembly,

It’s the same story with AWS as well. They use vast amounts of storage and leverage different tiers of storage to get the service they want. It’s funny but they have insane amounts of SD cards ( cheapest storage available at the size) and use that for some storage and just replicate things everywhere for durability. Imagine how small 256GB SD cards are and they you have hardware to plug-in 200 of them practically stacked on top of each other. The storage doesn’t need to be the best, it just needs to be managed appropriately and actively to ensure that data is always replicated as devices fail. That’s just the cooler tier stuff. It gets complex as the data warms.

assembly,

Used to work there but it’s been a few years so maybe things changed but that was how we originally got super cheap and durable s3.

assembly,

Doesn’t sound like retaliation to me, it sounds like their scheduled web crawlers are finding that content they used to index is now no longer viewable and this removed from search results. Pretty standard. My guess is that there were 400 million URLs listed and as the crawler uncovers that they are no longer available, that number will keep dropping to reflect only content publicly viewable. If only 500 URLs are now publicly viewable (without logins) then that’s what they will index. Google isn’t a search engine for private companies (unless you pay for the service) they are a public search engine so they make an effort to ensure that only public information is indexed. Some folk game the system (like the old expertsexchange.com) but sooner or later google drops the hammer.

assembly,

I think the purpose of the dark net markets is specifically to enable illegal purchases

assembly,

I wonder if an instance can be created with an onion address and federated. It wouldn’t have to be JUST dark net market stuff but could also be anyone super privacy focused.

assembly,

I wonder if an instance can be created with an onion address and federated. It wouldn’t have to be JUST dark net market stuff but could also be anyone super privacy focused. I’m thinking either all Lemmy and kbin instances would need a local tor router or it would need a frontend proxy address.

assembly,

Goddamn it. He gave it the Cramer kiss of death.

assembly,

Doesn’t Russia have any “good guys” that can step in and lead? I hear that Navalney is just as bad as Putin and Prigozhin. They have to have at least one person over there that isn’t terrible and can unite them.

assembly,

Special coup operation underway. Nothing to see here, completed in three days max.

assembly,

This has to be a pretty legit threat to make the public aware. They usually keep people in the dark until after the fallout from something.

assembly,

So who we cheering for on this one? I mean if they could destroy each other that’s ideal. Ukraine wins by confusion on the Russian side but I can’t imagine Prigozhin is better than Putin. Seems like trading same for same.
