agitatedpotato,

Therapy doesn’t fix any of the most pressing issues I have. I’d wager about 85% or more of my stress is economic or environmental in nature. My big three worries are how am I gonna afford a house by myself, how am i going to be able to retire on little money and without kids, and is the envrioment going to lose the ability to sustain human life while I’m still alive and on nothing more than a fixed income.

I don’t need to journal my thoughts and pretend the outside world doesn’t exist, I need some damn material security in my life.

agitatedpotato,

Being content despite not having needs met feels like a skill thats more valuable to my boss than me. Nah im gonna get my needs met.

agitatedpotato,

Im glad working on a viable plan and panicking are mutally exclusive for you, but they’re not for me. This is why my therapist started suggesting I simply stop paying attention to everything outside of my immediate daily view. My brain also failed to make itself happy through that kind of ignorance. Not to mention I couldn’t simply make that information unexists from my day to day social interactions. I was encountering at work what my therapist told me to avoid and since it was word of mouth it was less reliable than if I had just read it myself.

Actual doctors have tried, years have been spent and by the time I stopepd going id been going on about a year of weekly visits where I was no longer being taught anything new, simply checking in and making sure I was doing all the things I already learned. Copays were eating away at my actionable steps to fix the other problems in my life and I was no longer learning anything new or noticing positive behavioral change.

agitatedpotato,

True. It’s also a good formula for PTSD. When your traumas have to take a back seat to material needs, disorders develop.

agitatedpotato,

Ive been to multiple therapists, usually I switch when I get to the maintainace phase, except the last time when I just decided to save the money all together. This isn’t something that happend in isolation, and like I said last comment literal doctors have also intervened in some of these areangements. Please stop acting like you posses some truth I have yet to find. ‘Emotional response’ or not, having needs going unmet causes mental and physical duress and side effects, necessarily. No matter how happy you pretend to be about it.

agitatedpotato,

Once you’re aware of the phenom it’s a balance act, but you’re ‘balancing’ what you can afford to deprive yourself of depending on the circumstances.

agitatedpotato,

Yes and I’m telling you I’ve spent years going to professionals trying to feel ‘content’ and it doesn’t really change shit. Either you can swallow it and smile or you’re gonna gag. Therapy didn’t move the needle nearly as much as investing in the knowledge and infrastructure to remove myself from the problem, which is property and small scale farming. Notice how the only thing standing in my way is means, means I was slowly giving an insurance company who took more than their fair share from my doctor or therapist to tell me to try and smile about it instead. Therein lies my point, therapy solves my bosses problems not mine, it’s a distraction from mine. You’re mileage may vary, but like I said way up top, therapy can’t solve every problem. Hell therapy can’t solve the same problem for every person either with how wildly different peoples brains are even on a chemical level. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn’t. Like every other medical treatment.

agitatedpotato,

Nintedo lawyers are second only to Disney Lawyers. Fuck nintendo.

agitatedpotato,

If you honestly think the US under Trump is going to put liberals in labor camps despite watching his whole first term flounder on anything that wasn’t already galvinized by the GOPs platform I think you need to watch less sensationalized news.

agitatedpotato,

How’d that work for him last time?

agitatedpotato,

He’s literally on trial for a coup that failed and thats surprisingly well? What went well in your opinion the coup that didn’t work, or the trial(s) that are ongoing?

agitatedpotato,

My favorite thing about this is somehow Biden has little power as president to materially change things without congress, even when he had a slim majority, but Trumps somehow single handedly gonna put democrats in camps. Its sensational bs thats never going to happen but you can use it to pretend you’re being victimized for being a liberal, you’re not.

agitatedpotato,

Im not going to defend the court draging their ass but its a hell of a lot easier to try a dead man over one who won’t shut up. Hes also in the same situation as his little insurgent fans, those cases took and are taking quite a long time too, I still wouldn’t call that better than expected. If he doesn’t see the inside of a cell thats better than expected but by all meausre of lawyers commenting on his cases, ‘better than expected’ is not a take I’m hearing.

agitatedpotato,

And I think people who claim Trump is going to put Americans in camps do nothing but polarize the political landscape more than it already is. If you sincerely believe Trump would have the ability to line up political dissedents up in mass and send them to camps, you’ve reached a level of delusion that is unhealthy. Theres no evidence Republicans are going to gain nearly enough seats for a supermajority, so please explain to me how Trump sends democrats to camps. It’s a sensational divisive claim that does nothing but worsen an already shit electoral climate. Its the same level of crazy as claiming Bidens going to take away your guns. Even if thats what he said he wanted, he lacks any way to do so.

The only people actually goin to camps are immigrants and last I checked those are still open and functioning.

agitatedpotato,

When your step-healer gets stuck you gotta do what you gotta do.

agitatedpotato,

Easy mistake, the US de facto supports the fash, they just forgot Myanmar doesn’t have anything they want so there’s no reason to say it out loud.

agitatedpotato,

I try to remember that a lot of people are the way they are because of the conditions surrounding their existence, but that just depersonalizes my dislike for them in most cases, doesn’t really make you like someone who you wouldn’t otherwise.

agitatedpotato,

If I have clear sinuses but I obstruct one of my nostrils, I breathe out of the other one and under no duress I feel calm and display no need to unobstruct the other nostril.

If one of sinuses and nasal passages is fully stuffed such that no air can go through, catch me flipping on my sides an laying upside down so I can open up a small sweet path for fresh air.

Cant be only me right?

agitatedpotato,

Sometimes it’s where the compliments come from. I get no shortage of compliments about my work, but those barely move the needle emotionally, I’ve always been a lot of labor for a lot of people, being recognized in that light isn’t exactly flattering. In fact it’s the only light I feel I get any recognition in.

agitatedpotato,

I think OP is just an optimist

agitatedpotato,

A moment of silence, for those that don’t get the reference.

Why do people hate on mobile games, call them "not real games" and mock them, when some mobile-exclusive games are the best games I've played?

The Infinity Blade or Minigore series, for example, or anything made by Illusion Labs. These games are genius and most consoles don’t even have a touch screen or utilise it well like some smartphone games do....

agitatedpotato,

I like how everyones complaining aboit micro xactions and monetization like console and pc games aren’t also doing that. Compare apples to apples, if you’re only going to talk about the free to play mobile games, you cant compare them to the $70 dollar titles on console and PC. Give it enough time and your PC free to plays and mobile ones will be monetized almost the same, weather thats due to new laws or the industries playing the long slow game of adding more and more monetization without spooking off the customers.

Meanwhile people still saying they’d rather be intubated than having taken a vaccine

I only wish they get what they ask for.

agitatedpotato,

Not it’s not, how dare you disagree with me

agitatedpotato,

So you’re saying they’re more suited for political ambitions?

agitatedpotato,

These situations taught me there’s no reason in holding back, you’re going to get in trouble for doing the right thing. May as well really earn that punishment. I can’t even imagine trying to deal with your bully in the age where everyone has a pocket video recorder. Make a statement I say.

agitatedpotato,

Oh man, If I was inclined to dox myself online I’d have a guy for you. A local construction company here has a green energy side company and they do both public and private installations of wind and solar, from large owners of open land, to farmers, to even residential. Hopefully theres something near you like that.

agitatedpotato,

Its a highly parroted false dichotomy. If not voting for Biden is akin to supporting Trump then not voting Trump is akin to supporting Biden.

What I do know is your vote is power. No politician can be elected without being given it. If you’re giving that power to the lesser of two genociders you’re endorsing a genocider. You handed material power to someone supporting genocide, that necessarily makes you at least a little complicit.

Choosing the lesser genocide is still chosing genocide, and that’s not what never again is supposed to mean. How is it hard to understand some people do not feel comfortable choosing any amount of genocide when your choice directly empowers a genocide.

Saying we have to vote for one evil is like saying a conscientious objector in war has to fight for the other side or they’re not doing anything to solve the problem. No the point is we disagree with all of it. Conscientious objectors don’t end wars, are they a wasted strategy too?

agitatedpotato,

Then it seems like you understand my position on never again. I don’t need or expect agreement but that’s what I feel.

agitatedpotato,

Then why is RFK pulling more prospective Republican than prospective Democrats?

agitatedpotato,

The company says in documents posted by government safety regulators Friday that a rear wiring bundle can come in contact with the rear axle housing. That can chafe the wiring and cause a short circuit, which can turn on the parking brake without action from the driver, increasing the risk of a crash.

So not to downplay Fords mess up or the big recall but its interesting to me how easy a fix this is as long as you know exactly what bundle of wires you’re looking for down there. Take it in for the free maintenance though, please do not DIY an auto recall.

agitatedpotato,

Man that’s environmental scientists catch phrase lately, “No one wants to be right about this.” I really wish people(cough governments) would take them seriously.

agitatedpotato, (edited )

The terrifying part to me is that cops across the nation have a long history of seeing that the tech they want to use is unreliable and based on junky science, but they still push it through anyway. Aren’t police dogs about as reliable as a coin-flip when their handlers aren’t nipping at their neck to get them to jump at anything? They don’t care if it’s right as long as they can use it to justify their behavior, so they make it policy.

agitatedpotato, (edited )

If the racism is institutionalized, the racists will always win in the end. I work with people with disabilities and the list of places I can’t take people with dark skin keeps growing. There was a park we used to enjoy until someone started stalking us, as if that wasn’t bad enough the cops were called on us every time by the stalker. They knew they only needed to get the racist cop once for it to work, and us knowing that too means we can’t go back. They got what they wanted.

agitatedpotato, (edited )

This is a lived expirence that actually happened. Don’t treat it like an arguement to do nothing because i never suggested people should do nothing. What it should do is inform how one approaches dealing with racism because asking a Disabled Black young man to risk bodily harm to get the same rights other people already have is not going to work. You can’t put the burden of changing a predatory system on the people the system preys upon. Thats the message.

agitatedpotato,

Lmfao just put the kids right into prison after graduation too why don’t you, but wait, even prisons have libraries. They really out did themselves this time.

agitatedpotato,

Thats just a Texas thing, they got rid of water breaks for workers too, kids have to be somewhere down the line at this rate.

agitatedpotato,

It seems the politicians are not so confident that the police they use on us are properly equipped to protect people. First time huh?

What a shame hes gone, he’d still be young enough to run for senate.

agitatedpotato,

Thats probably why I never get abducted, I’m def the type to steal some shit from people who kidnap me.

Which is why in a lot of dispos across the country youll get change back after using your card.

Men are not allowed to be spoiled. When they are they’re called babies, soft, gay, or lazy. Shanias out here emboldening the patriarchy because she wants to put someone down.

agitatedpotato,

Slow day to day growth is the kind you want to foster and plan on anyway. Cant rely on spikes and waves, but they are of course apriciated. The more content we make the more people will come over, for now it’s really that simple from a user standpoint.

agitatedpotato,

They sure won’t come if we don’t build anything though.

agitatedpotato,

I wouldn’t trust her even with desk duty and safety scissors.
