TheProtagonist,

TheProtagonist,

Not a mod, and not using the default app either. So probably this won’t affect me too much.

TheProtagonist,

But doesn’t it make the whole thing extremist if they tolerate an extremist local organization on state level within their rows?

TheProtagonist,

RLADB

TheProtagonist,

TheProtagonist,

Hey, coal and gas were cheap in those days… - why thinking about the future?

TheProtagonist,

Could be the start to a fruitful “leave or stay“ discussion.

TheProtagonist,

Yes shit post! This is Lemmy shit post.

TheProtagonist,

I see faces most of the time…

TheProtagonist,

“Privacy-focused YouTube channels” - sounds like a contradiction…

TheProtagonist,

I use Piped, too. But recently it became really slow and unreliable for me. I am using it through Yattee with the default API.

TheProtagonist,

This map was brought to you by Britain, the great!

TheProtagonist,

Having said that, the Palestine territory was not chosen arbitrarily, but probably because of the significance Jerusalem has to the Jews, where their ancient kingdom and temple had been.

TheProtagonist,

Pretty good summary, but I would object, that “Hamas” is something like a “government” in Gaza. It’s a terrorist group that took control of the Gaza territory and it’s people without ever having been elected by someone (in fact, they are suppressing any kind of election since they took over the power from the Palestinian authorities). They are also using the Gaza population as “living shields” against counter strikes to their terror attacks. Nowadays they also have international hostages, which would make a counter-offensive even more difficult.

A possible - although very unlikely - solution to the conflict could be a de-radicaiisation on both sides and the Palestinians finally overthrowing the Hamas-regime and any other terrorist groups, because those are not fighting for Palestinian freedom, but for some crappy “Jihad” ideas and the destruction of Israel.

Unfortunately this will never happen…

TheProtagonist,

I would say the agency dealing with homeland terrorism (I guess this is the way Israel looks at this) would rather be Shin Bet than Mossad.

Children’s picture book flagged at Alabama library because author’s last name is ‘Gay’ (www.al.com)

Madison County Public Library administrators were asked to go over a list of potentially "sexually explicit" books to be moved from the children's and young adult section to the adult section. The majority of these books were about the LGBTQ community. At least one was added to the list because the author's last name is Gay.

TheProtagonist,

Soon there will be a law to change her name automatically into “Marie-Louise Straight”, so that administrators will be happy.

TheProtagonist,

TheProtagonist,

TheProtagonist,

Is there a definition of what’s “legal” and what’s “illegal” in terms of hairstyle?

TheProtagonist,

Alles ganz normal, wie immer…

Windows pc calling home (even while asleep) (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

I have a network-wide pi hole and I noticed that it requested activity.windows.com, a url blocked by my pi hole, even while my pc is suspended. I pinged 10.0.0.217 and it is currently unreachable. So, somehow, windows pc’s turn on networking, phones home, and turns off even while suspended....

TheProtagonist,

This is why I disconnect my machines from the network while in sleep mode (I use only wired connections). For me it’s perfectly sufficient if they update the apps while I use them.

TheProtagonist,

TheProtagonist,

This looks more like an “all you can eat“ approach…

TheProtagonist,

How brainwashed could someone be…? - Yes!

TheProtagonist,

I am also not a big fan of religion, but I wouldn’t put this in the same basket. This is more like a cult or a sect, where members are blindly believing what their master says.

This reminds me more of Jim Jones and his followers, resulting in the Jonestown massacre, rather than the average religious person (except radical evangelicals, taliban and such extremists).

TheProtagonist,

There are many religious people (at least in Europe) who are occasionally going to church, but other than that harmless, while the other ones are dangerous, because fanatic in their beliefs.

TheProtagonist,

Religion can be a weapon used by those in power to suppress the people or parts thereof (like women).

TheProtagonist,

So Google will not let me log in to my account unless I provide them my phone number? But at the same time they require a regular log in (at least once a year or every two years), so your account doesn’t get deleted?

I have an old Gmail account, I don’t use anymore, but it’s tied to my name, so I wouldn’t want someone else to use it at some point. I thinks there’s one email client that regularly connects to that account. I hope that will be sufficient to preserve it, but I would not feel comfortable giving them my phone number, when I have no other links to Google services (this may be different, if you use an Android phone anyway).

Why doesn't the United Kingdom rejoin the European Union?

Admittedly, I don’t know much about Brexit, but from what I have been exposed to, it seems like a decisively economical and political impairment that made travel and business with the rest of Europe more difficult and costly. Since it is so highly criticized as a terrible move, why doesn’t the UK just rejoin the EU?

TheProtagonist,

It’s like thinking about marrying your ex-wife again, just after you went through an awful divorce, that took years to get accomplished, which you had insisted in. It would make you look somewhat stupid and the question is whether your ex-wife would let you move back in to your former house (i.e. the EU). Who knows…

You wanted it, you got it, now live with it!

TheProtagonist,

I guess they are currently at step 2 or 3…

TheProtagonist,

That’s no surprise to me. Ads are Google’s core business. Why should they support technologies that potentially limit their profits?

TheProtagonist,

Just change the constitution until it fits their needs…
