Strykker,

Man I must have been doing something wrong. I hated reheated spaghetti, texture and flavour were never quite right after freezing it.

I’ll make a pot of sauce that lasts like 3 months but cook just enough pasta for one meal.

Strykker,

Basically any recent septic line is setup with a fresh air vent. Yes it’s gonna stink like hell probably but there is an actual fresh air source in there

Strykker,

They aren’t saying the us government can take land in like France whenever. But like Canada has expropriation laws available where if needed Canadian land can be seized from the land owner, usually with compensation.

This is often done for things like infrastructure, highways and such. Turns it from needing the owner to be willing to sell into “we are buying this land now, heres what we think the land was worth”

Strykker,

It’s weird, Ontario does the same thing with our health card renewals (I think it’s opt in still though). But the article is claiming most of the new volunteers are from Ontario? I guess taxes come around more often than health card renewals do, but the jump seems odd.

Strykker,

But it’s still dirt fucking cheap to produce.

The expensive parts of fibre are the transmitters/receivers at each end and the labour to splice/terminate it properly.

Strykker,

Are you actually suggesting that you need to spend and extra 40k on a vehicle so you can lug some gravel around twice a year instead of just hiring a dump truck to do the delivery?

The amount in gas alone you’d save would cover the costs of getting someone else to do it

Strykker,

Depending how often you go it absolutely can be cheaper to rent. Gas is expensive

Strykker,

When you are competing for customers not providing the illiterate morons of the world a simple UI leads to them going to your competitor which does.

And unfortunately those illiterate morons outnumber every one else by a significant chunk.

Strykker,

This isn’t about that though. This is advertiser’s going “we don’t want to advertise on X because Elon promotes content we don’t agree with” and then Elon freaking out because much free speech. Even though no one is blocking or removing what he says, they just no longer want to be associated with it.

Strykker,

When I’ve driven an auto rental a few times the most I accidentally do is try to put my left foot through the floor when going for the clutch that doesn’t exist. The brake is far enough to the right your engrained habits shouldn’t cause you to reach for it with you left.

Strykker,

Have you seen a 3D printed house? They look like shit with their lumpy walls, and you still have to run all the plumbing power, and ventilation.

Strykker,

USPS is you fucking moron.

Strykker,

Yes, but here you are expecting a landlord to actually think about the future.

Strykker,

My old landlord ignored a water mark hole in the ceiling below the bathroom until the leak got to the point they had to tear out all the drywall in the bathroom, and probably should have replaced all the framing too.

(It was there when we moved in, and we mentioned when we noticed it getting bigger)

So no. Unless they are a “professional” landlord they tend to not act on issues until it costs them more than early action would have. All while making life a pain in the ass for the tenant.

Strykker,

Except “shot and killed” it self can be ambiguous. What did he kill them with? Did he shoot him then kill him with a knife?

Shot dead, means the shooting is what killed the man.

Strykker,

Well if you don’t actually mention what part you are comparing people are going to assume its the part the majority use, ie VDSL and fibre.

Everyone has always known normal satellite internet sucks dick, it’s slow and high ping.

But musk is too stupid to market his starlink as a replacement for that, instead trying to win over VDSL and fibre users.

Windows pc calling home (even while asleep) (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

I have a network-wide pi hole and I noticed that it requested activity.windows.com, a url blocked by my pi hole, even while my pc is suspended. I pinged 10.0.0.217 and it is currently unreachable. So, somehow, windows pc’s turn on networking, phones home, and turns off even while suspended....

Strykker,

Modern sleep modes are internet connected, with the intent to allow systems to perform updates while sleeping.

I don’t like it but that’s how it’s designed to work.

Strykker,

There is no limit on what you can change the rent by between renters. Only what you can increase while the same person lives in the unit. The moment they move out its perfectly fine to increase the rent for the next renter.

Strykker,

I had the ethernet in my desktop mobo not work when I tried upgrading to win11. Worked fine in 10 but no internet on 11.

I also had a very difficult time getting a Xbox wireless controller adapter working on win 10 without spending about 2 hours searching.

Windows usually works but sometimes it just fucking doesn’t. Linux isn’t perfect either but I usually don’t have issues with my Ethernet ports not working.

Strykker,

Then why are you here parsing it around like it’s something new.

Strykker,

Usb could have been great, then they decided that with every minor version bump they needed to go back and fuck with the name of the previous version…

Like FFS just do 3(5gbps) 3.1(10gbps) 3.2(20gbps) etc or whatever the fucking difference even is between them all at this point.

Strykker,

Mine is built from enough concrete and brick to sink most ships. And most wood frame houses are built from timber trucked in on a flatbed.

Nobody does large amounts of hauling with a pickup.

They get a transit van if they actually need to move things around.

Strykker,

“use my instance please”

“No not like that!”

Holy fuck this is what we left Reddit to avoid…

Lemmy had a garbage web UI. And the other apps I have used are not nearly as smooth as sync.

Strykker,

The pto thing is because most office/tech jobs let you take unpaid time off too. Just means you won’t make your full salary for the year based on the number of unpaid days you take.

Strykker,

Yeah it’s pretty shit. Since some places they only offer 1 or 2 weeks vacation a year if you want a longer one you end up needing to take the unpaid time off.

Strykker,

Its a stupid as hell law, but I think the not having news on Facebook could be good? Since anything posted is basically all outrage baiting anyways, this would be reducing that and forcing people to leave their circle jerks/echo chambers for actual news.

Though people will probably just fuck it up more and start quoting hearsay without even nothing to find an article…
