The action system in D2 is soooo good though. Like if I don’t spend every action in bg3 I feel like I wasted a turn. D2 lets you bank a few AP if you aren’t able to be effective that turn, or just position and save up for a wombo combo next turn. The pyramids let your party split up to explore too which is great.

It depends. If destiny was sub based and all additional content free? I might still recommend it. It plays like an MMO already, why not lean into it? Make players start at zero and play through all the campaigns so they know what’s going on in the story, they have to unlock and learn all the trees, that sort of thing. That would be a damn sight better than dumping new players in at 1250 or whatever base power is and letting them figure it the fuck out themselves. It’d be a bigger time sink, which is what bungo wants anyway, but new players won’t be dumped into a world they know nothing about with no tutorial beyond “press g to throw a grenade.”

The problem is they’re trying to split the difference between a long-play MMO and instant action shooter and only getting the worst of both worlds.

The point I was trying to make is you can’t play the old campaigns anymore. The old campaigns are gone. New players are stepping into beyond light not knowing who the fuck any of these people are, or what the significance of darkness is. If they’re f2p they don’t even have that, just the seasonal shit that is tied to campaigns they didn’t even do. The model sucks and alienates new players while older players drop off. I started in season of the forge and loved it. I played for years until the grind became too repetitive for me and I haven’t touched it in ages and probably won’t ever again. Sure, it’s cheaper than a sub, but the amount of content we get for it? Not worth. And locking weapons behind unplayable DLC is the scummiest shit I have ever seen.

Yup. With the current model, only the most recent content really matters as players start with a high base power level. You don’t need to do the old content with all that story (and now you can’t at all) to get up to the latest patch. It’s… “friendly” in that aspect, but I’ve introduced a few people to destiny and I’ve had to spend hours just to explain things the game doesn’t. I’ve stopped recommending it since they removed the old xpacs.

Meanwhile a game like FFXIV makes you play through the entirety of every expansion before you can get to the latest, a feat that took me nearly 200 hours of gameplay. That’s not great if your friend wants you to do end game raids and stuff, but the fact that they haven’t removed any old content and it’s actually easy to find people to group with is fantastic.

But the damage is lasting. NMS will always be known for the absolute shitshow it was on launch. Props to them for eventually delivering, but the game will never be as iconic as it could have been. Like compare bg3’s reception of “holy shit it’s so good” vs NMS’s “oh it’s finally good now.”

While we’re at it, mad props to facepunch. Rust was always a great game. Even through the weird bits with xp and blueprint scraps and aimcone, it always felt like a complete game.

Granted, I’m not touching it again unless a new plague shuts everything down for a month or I quit my job, but if you have 18 hours to waste every day it’s the best game ever.

3 and new Vegas had such effort to keep the same level of writing, and VATS was an excellent nod to to the isometric games. So while the form was different, the experience was still fallout. 76 was a copy-paste of FO4 with no story, no npcs, and the entire game revolved around the most controversial part of 4: settlements.

what budget 3d printer would you suggest for a beginner?

so im a teen with not alot of money but i want to get into 3d printing, another community suggested the ender 3 original. it looks like a solid printer but who know im a noob after all. my budget is around 100$ or less. im looking into making mini figures and painting them or whatever nerdy thing i find. i know the budget is...

100 is pretty tight, but you could probably find an original ender 3 for that much. It’s good for beginners because you assemble it out of the box which gives you a feel for how to adjust and repair it, it’s very modular so you can upgrade parts or add modules easily, and overall it prints pretty well right out of the box. Overall, definitely a solid choice.

One downside is no case, so ABS and other high temp or toxic filaments are no good, but PLA will print perfectly fine.

Another downside is no removable bed (they make removing the print easier), but you could easily buy one online or use tape.

If you go with the ender, make sure to get a program like Cura (free) and a micro SD card for slicing and transferring print files. You can also hook it up directly to your computer with mini USB, but that’s been finicky for me. Also mini USB is old as hell and I doubt his have one laying around.
