I agree with a lot of this but I’m a bit iffy when it comes to makeup. I think that the normalized use of makeup for women has put unhealthy expectations and pressures on women to look different rather than accepting someone’s actual appearance. I don’t think extending that to men would be a good idea and in my mind it would likely only increase these pressures.
Of course people are allowed to like makeup and use it for different reasons, including covering up blemishes, but a lot of people feel the need to spend an hour putting on makeup every morning just to be accepted and I think that’s really bad.
I’m working on a indie video game that’s set on a large ship and I’m looking to have it be a very hidden and elusive boat. (Speaking vaguely to avoid spoilers)...
Maybe there were so many satellites that at some point two collided and caused a bunch of space debris, which makes sending up satellites incredibly difficult and satellite usage limited to mostly communication?
You could have satellite detection rely more on using another range in the electromagnetic spectrum since having enough coverage for visual detection is too difficult (think RADAR for example) with the ship providing some unique solution for it. Either like airplanes do to prevent the signals bouncing off it to begin with, or something super high-tech where it analyzes that spectrum of radiation and then calculates what the response would be if it wasn’t there.
But that might be getting into too tech-garbled territory.
Since it’s solid hydrogen I think it’s to be expected, however I didn’t see any information regarding energy losses which I imagine would be quite high when you have those kinds of cooling requirements.
On the bright side, after fascism comes a “golden” period
I’m not so sure about that, there are plenty of countries that have been dictatorships for generations. Modern developments in weapons technology and surveillance also gives the governments of today, and tomorrow, a lot more alternatives to suppress a population than in the past.
I don’t think disdain for a government that thinks concentration camps are a good idea is something that should be considered controversial, but that’s just me.
Not only her rights, the rights of people who aren’t straight, the rights of people who aren’t cis, the rights of kids to have a decent education, the rights of indigenous people, the rights of non-whites. That’s even not to mention that they’re against providing people with healthcare so that they don’t die, against trying anything that might make this planet livable in the future (for the kids that they claim to want to protect), and against not trying to fucking overthrow democracy. I don’t need to agree with my partner’s every opinion and political ideal, but at the very least I have to be able to respect them, and throwing everyone who isn’t a well-off white man off a cliff for “lower taxes” isn’t something I can respect.
What makes you think they took offense? If they responded another way that they don’t do it, you’d believe them? I think you’re just coming up with excuses to claim that you’re right.
I don’t really like the take that it is solely Batman’s responsibility to kill the Joker. Batman acts as a vigilante, and in order to not take actions that one cannot provide restitution for, he has a strict rule that he cannot kill. He enforces the law but he doesn’t act like he’s the judge, jury, or the executioner. He stops them and he lets the judicial system sentence them. The people he hands over the Joker to every single time has far more ample opportunity to kill him. The police, the judge deciding on capital punishment, prison guards, a random bystander with a gun. None of them carry the same extrajudicial responsibility that the Batman imposes on himself in order to remain accountable or at least not start taking charge of life and death.
The problem wouldn’t be that the Batman kills the Joker. The problem would be when he starts deciding whether others are better off dead than alive.

Rishi Sunak is considering introducing some of the world’s toughest anti-smoking measures that would in effect ban the next generation from ever being able to buy cigarettes, the Guardian has learned....
You mean attacking Darth Vader who was actively trying to kill him? While telling him that he’d turn his sister to the dark side? After the emperor was gloating over his friends getting ambushed and slaughtered? That’s the situation you’re referring to?
Also, I don’t think that just because Anakin, who Luke never met while growing up, killed tuskens and younglings, Luke would act entirely differently than in the original trilogy. That’s just weird.
You are buried in a coffin 6ft deep, with no light or cell phone. There is only a small tube connected to the coffin from outside that allows you to breathe (edit: you can breathe with no difficulty). After 48 hours, you are dug up and given 1 million dollars. Do you do it?...
I’m not sure you know how much a million dollars actually is or how effective drugs are on your mental well-being. They’re not magic, it’s still probably going to be years of problems and while a million dollars is enough to make you live very comfortably, it’s not enough to actually make you rich rich.
I personally don’t think you can put a price on your health, mental or physical, and being immobile for 48 hours in a wooden box is going to be very hard on your physical health as well.
It’s possible to ruin the planet enough that the things supporting life, the ozone layer and the atmosphere for example, are wrecked beyond repair and that the planet becomes permanently lifeless. Sure, technically the planet will still exist, but so will every other dead rock in space.
No one is saying that biological sex isn’t real, you’re making up a position that you’re arguing against.
If you want to actually understand, ask questions more than you make assumptions. Something simple like “How do you view biological sex?” would actually tell you something.
With that said, can some of y’all come down here to Florida? We’ve got a Nazi problem that’s getting out of control and can use some support.
I don’t mean to be negative but what can other people do? I feel like it’ll be difficult to motivate the average non-racist to move to a place where they might have worse job prospects, get ostracized for their political/social views, and get both harassed and potentially arrested/killed by the police for trying to protest against racism.
Talk is cheap. The real-world implications of mass-murder are not as easy as one would like to imagine.
What do you think is more likely, that the powers that be go “Oh, they were nazis, that’s fine then” or “Look, the left are the violent ones, we need to take away the rights of anyone who associates with them!”?
While I would otherwise probably reiterate that it’s pretty easy to type in words on a keyboard compared to actually having to go through with actual actions, I see the real world and how it functions might not be interesting enough for you so I’ll pass. Have a nice day.
What’s the alternative here? Only letting big companies without any ethical regards rent housing?
Sure, there’s a good argument to be made that housing is essential to survive and as such should be provided by the government, but that’s not the world we live in. In this society, it’s likely someone is going to have to rent it out and I’d rather it be a person who actually gives a shit and can be held responsible rather than some faceless corporation.
Russian authorities on Friday designated Nobel Prize-winning journalist Dmitry Muratov as a "foreign agent," a move often aimed at critics of Kremlin policies.
Out of curiosity, what are you’re thoughts on the below scenarios:
attempted robbery If you go to a bank and attempt to steal money, but you were unsuccessful in doing so, there wouldn’t be any loss, but you’d still go to jail and it’s widely accepted as wrong.
getting a service, e.g going to the barbers and running out of the store before paying There wouldn’t be a loss again
Those aren’t really good equivalents since in the first example, you’re trying to take something away from someone but you fail. The law is not concerned with your skill, just your intent. Attempted murder is illegal even if the victim is still alive.
In the second example, there is absolutely a loss. The barber would have spent time and used resources in order to provide you with that service that they wouldn’t get compensated for. Your involvement directly costs them money and time, unlike with piracy where even a billion people pirating won’t cost the developer any more money than if those people just never played it to begin with.
