Given the harmful effects of light pollution, a pair of astronomers has coined a new term to help focus efforts to combat it. Their term, as reported in a brief paper in the preprint database arXiv and a letter to the journal Science, is “noctalgia.” In general, it means “sky grief,” and it captures the collective pain...
A few years ago, I moved from Chicago to a medium sized city in Colorado. Even with the light pollution we have in my city, the stars are still great. In Chicago I was lucky to see fifteen stars on a clear night.
I was an older teen when it came out and didn’t see it until just a few months ago. I don’t think it’s great but I was more entertained watching it than the new animated movie. It’s totally bonkers.
My significant other ate cucumbers and onion with some ranch. I called it a cucumber onion salad. She says there aren’t enough ingredients to call it a salad, because “it takes multiple ingredients”. I pointed out she had three and asked what the minimum is. She refuses to answer so I ask Lemmy.
I get it. My wife and I still watch TV shows but it’s at a slow place. This idea of watching an entire season in a few days is lost on me. I watch about 2 to 4 hours a week so seasons usually take a while.
I keep both the 4 hour and the 12 hour time-released versions at home. There’s no substitute. I’ll gladly spend a few extra minutes at the pharmacy counter to obtain it.
I’m now 25 years into my IT career and the older I get the more I understand those former co-workers who retired and just wanted to fuck off, go fishing, and never look at another computer.
I don’t have a seed box but I constantly seed a few hundred torrents on my 1 Gbps connection. Many of them I’ve been seeding for over ten years. I couldn’t care less about people like OP. Everyone should just do the best they can. If the best you can do is leech, that’s okay with me.
Somehow this is the only country on earth where this seems to happen. When talking about shootings involving guns, okay, fine, the US is certainly an outlier there, but every country has cars and police....
They could just let her go. They know what she looks like and they know the car she’s in. Unless she goes on the lam for a few bottles of booze it seems easier and safer to follow up with her a day or two later for what is presumably a misdemeanor.
Some brewers can’t help themselves. Even when they brew a style that would traditionally have low IBUs they bump it up by about 10. Lagunitas totally messed with Newcastle Brown Ale once they got their grubby hops-loving mitts on it.

I’m close. I was looking at SSDs the other day so that I can install Pop!_OS and dual boot. I used to be at least somewhat interested in the latest version of Windows but I have zero interest in 11.
I don’t have any. I’m technical enough that I’m confident I can figure it out. For me it’s more about finding the time and energy. There’s only one application that may give me trouble and that’s the cloud backup solution I use.

So far so good. It’s Tmo so if that coverage works for you then you’re good to go. Where I live has crappy coverage for every provider so cost was my main concern. The price is fairly inexpensive if you’re willing to prepay far in advance. They let you prepay for 3, 6, or 12 months with healthy discounts each time you go up a commitment level.
And every day they say “Bappity, You’re welcome, but please stop calling and texting us so often. We’re busy. A weekly or even monthly thanks would be plenty.”

I know it’s fun to rag our boomer parents and grandparents but it was boomers who designed the older, “complex” UI for usage by other boomers. Since boomers are now dropping out of the workforce (25% of it right now) it seems likely that the UI is being dumbed down for the much larger Gen-X/Millennial/Gen Z workforce.
[Raises hand] I’ve been paying for a family music plan for years now. YouTube Premium was always just bundled with it. If they ever stopped the bundling I’d hop back over to Spotify.
