bans are already temporary in the sense that offenders can acquire new accounts, hardwares, or networks to circumvent them anyway. all that permanent bans does is guarantee that people who are falsely banned, arent repeat offenders, or even got hacked themselves get permanantly banned.
appeal processes arent a guarantee to getting an account back.
Games have much more strict bans than they need imo.

these are good green flags. warfork is free on steam, and is a quality quake clone that makes a lot of the speedrunning techs from quake much more accessible, while also adding a movement redirect. results in speedy fast gameplay.
high skill ceiling and a lot of fun, with no microtransactions.
