They taught us this in fire academy. If you run out of air this is an option. But typically, hopefully, they know where you are and will be there with a RIT bag or spare bottle quickly.

I am an American all aboard the “America has some serious issues” wagon, but dude not wearing ear protection was doing so against every single rule. If he got caught by the wrong person him and his boss would be in deep shit. Everything else you said is pretty accurate though. At least for big cities, the type of place tourists go. Just remember 90% of the country is not there. You visited the worst places in the country. It’s still bad though. It is a dog eat dog country and very little help for the needy. The help that there is takes so many hoops to jump through that some people with any problems just can’t do it and they don’t have any advocates.
Mental health is the issue. Just like anyone who would drive a car through a school yard mowing down kids, that person has mental issues. The vehicles driver should be licensed and the owner should be registered. I am a gun toting liberal in a state with essential zero gun laws. I believe in the second ammendment, but not absolute. You should be able to have a gun, but you should be licensed (psyc eval, background check, gun safety classes requirement) and your guns should be registered. If a gun you own ever kills someone, you are responsible. Your gun is your responsibility to keep locked up and if it’s stolen you should have reported it.
Then owning a gun in a civilized country with no legitimate threat from outside forces to it’s individual civilians and a military that has higher funding than the next 10 countries combined should not be a right in the 21st century. It should however be a privilege that you have the most basic of accountability for.
Toyota Motor said on Wednesday it is raising the wages of nonunion U.S. factory workers just days after the United Auto Workers union won major pay and benefit hikes from the Detroit Three automakers....
If I’ve learned anything over the past few years the prices of vehicles will double in the coming decade as a “fuck you” to the working class. If you can’t beat em, starve em out. And they’ll be God damned if the CEOs will take the hit.
If you pull your main breakers and they shut off then they are running through your meter no? Also, your main breakers are probably like 100-200 amps instead of the 15-20 amps that should be on an outlet and it’s wiring. Those outlets are essentially unprotected. Anything goes wrong and it’s death or fire, or both. Are you in north America?
The expanse goes into some interesting generational changes between people who live on earth, Mars, and in the asteroid belt. Belters are tall and scrawny and when they go to earth they can’t stand and the gravity crushes their bones, extremely painful. The only way they can be there comfortably is in water. I’d imagine different areas with different "weather " would have different types of adaptations and travel wouldn’t be as common/easy.
Without any context, anyone who sends things to space can easily pay $150k. For context though, they are worth $3.35 billion as of September. $150k is probably less than a days electric bill for their offices.
I found that dish will screw giant lag bolts right through the shingles of your roof, right next to 3 other abandoned dishes. They are no longer allowed in our complex. I finally identified all the abandoned ones (alost all of them now as they are phased out), removed them and patched all the shingles. Filled an entire dump trailer. It was ridiculous. Had to repair ceilings from the leaks. Cable company is almost as bad. They leave all the old wires up, run new ones right over top. Putting nails through all the siding. But at least they aren’t destroying the roof.
As an also actual living human, I rent strictly to seniors, our rent is $4-500 cheaper than anything else comparable in town because they live on fixed income and I am a paramedic/firefighter that works 3 jobs to survive. I am not one of the scumbags (I don’t think?) I don’t make much of a profit because I refuse to raise the rent on a bunch of widowed old ladies living on fixed incomes and I put my resources back into the units to maintain or improve their living conditions. Yeah, it increases the property value. So I’m not going to pretend it’s pure charity, it is a business. But I am not gouging my tenants while I very much can during the housing shortage like every other landlord in my small town.
If I gave it away it would just be bought up by the same monopoly that owns every other complex in my town. He has offered me 3 times what I paid and I refused to sell. Not because I wouldn’t LOVE the money, but because the tenants that are pretty much family, that have watched my kids grow up, that have gone to my wedding, would all immediately be out on their ass.
This one’s got me right now. Not crazy editing or anything, it just REALLY drives the point home for the song. Probably mostly because it’s a nostalgia bomb for me.:
Ever had one those moments in life when you know, beyond any shadow of a doubt, you are making a very, very bad decision, with a great chance for instant regret and a miserable, probably long lasting, outcome and notheless followed that path?...
I was at one and moved an unscanned item to close to the bagging area and the screen froze then showed an areal cam of me getting too close to the bagging area.
“Dear neurosurgeon man, I know you have like 15 years of college and 20 years of experience and you are the only qualified neurosurgeon in 100 mile radius but remember that one time you rubbed your dick on that intern? Yeah, your going to need to let the next 15 patients die and we are going to need to let you go. I know it downgrades us from a level one trauma center, hundreds of people might die, and we will lose MILLIONS of dollars by letting you go, but it’s the right thing to do” - Said no chief of surgery ever.
They just pay the lawsuits and move on. It’s shitty, and it’s why surgeons are giant dicks. They don’t have to treat conscious patients and they get away with anything because they are nearly irreplaceable.
TVs have gotten stupid cheap lately because the TV isn’t the product. YOU are the product. People buy tvs because of the screen, size, and if it has built in Netflix/prime/Hulu. Everything else is a blank check for them.
The New York City police department plans to pilot the unmanned aircrafts in response to complaints about large gatherings, including private events, over Labor Day weekend, officials announced Thursday....
A US lawmaker from the state of Arizona has introduced legislation in Congress that would impose a 300 percent tax on the sale of water-intensive crops grown by foreign companies in the state, in a bid to curb the extensive use of water in the drought-stricken state.
Whatever reigns this shit in. I say this as a liberal stuck in a rural Arizona town who’s water is being stolen. About 10 years ago a farm popped up just outside of town and it now consumes most of the valley we live in. This farm pumps 10x the consumption of the entire city with a population of 80,000. Peoples wells are running dry and this dude pays nothing for this water.
This is the desert. Nothing is supposed to grow here. We probably shouldn’t even live here.
Fuck these guys, I don’t care where they are from. But if it takes xenophobia for the idiots in this state to vote on it, go ahead. If the crops are for local use, well, we did fine before they showed up. We didn’t need those farms. So they will go away. If the market for these stupid unethical crops isn’t propped up by foreign consumption they wouldn’t exist.

No, I think the majority of people are fine being sheep. The size of the open source alternatives will never reach a number that plays a significant role otherwise they already would have e destroyed it.
If an onlyfans ad was on a park bench in the US it would be hung up in the courts for years and people would be sued for tainting their conservative Christian beliefs. It would be removed, and replaced with an NRA ad.
I am a paramedic/firefighter. Over the past few years our department has been crazy short handed. A lot of times I am the only paramedic on duty in the entire city (vs EMTs, who are a lower level of care). I essentially was not only allowed to work whenever I could but was sometimes required to. I think I averaged 96~ hours a week last year. I am not stealing from anyone other than time with my children. I am being compensated for my time and service i provide. Public servants are not ALL shitheads, sometimes we are filling vital roles and then get shit on for it. Pay better hourly and you get more employees and don’t have to pay people like me time and a half when a pandemic hits. I also work 24 hour shifts, so I would just work for 4 days go home for 3. It’s easier for me to hit those hours than someone who works a desk job.
It is Ironic that this dude is a safety monitor though. The main people that shit their pants when you work that many hours is payroll, obviously, and the safety officer.
I run a small senior living complex in a rural town. We have the cheapest rent in town. We scrape by, trying to make improvements here and there. They are maintained though. We seriously charge hundreds of dollars less than the next closest complex in the area. We refused to raise our rent in the past 4 years dispite rising taxes and utility bills. Most our tenants are widows/widowers living off a fixed income. We are either too nice or bad business owners because that “fix my AC” One always stings and reaches into my personal budget. And by “personal budget” I mean I eat ramen for a couple weeks.
Anyway, I actually feel like this meme. Other than my tenants are usually happy. Occasionally we get someone who is just never happy no matter what you do. I know all the other complexes are owned by one company essentially creating a monopoly and they have exploited this town. We get calls from people crying because they will be homeless.
And a slot machine simulator is not actually gambling. Gambling is the wagering of something of value (“the stakes”) on a random event with the intent of winning something else of value, where instances of strategy are discounted. (Wikipedia) . If you are not paying or receiving money you are not gambling. You are just playing a game.
