The wonderful thing about all this is, whether we elect Trump or Biden, we’re still stuck with a brain-dead asshole who can’t string together a coherent sentence.

Lauren Boebert's Beetlejuice companion owns pro-LGBT bar that hosted a drag show: report (www.rawstory.com)

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) is getting some heat after video footage showed her in close contact with a male companion at a Beetlejuice musical from which she was booted after allegedly vaping in front of a pregnant woman. That companion is reportedly the owner of a pro-LGBT bar that has hosted a dra...

politicians are willing to compromise their values as well

98% of American voters compromise their values every two years by voting for political parties who, as a rule, vote against their constituencies.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Nothing odd about it.

The system’s set up so our lawmakers can easily grift. Hell, they can legally loan their campaigns money at 20% interest and pay themselves back with your donations.

It’s why I always tell people. Don’t donate to political candidates. Put the money in your investments instead. You won’t have representation, but your investments definitely will no matter who’s elected.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I’d get so much more excited about these headlines if these people didn’t invariably end up being pro-corporate shills every time.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

You’re not wrong.

But it’s also not incorrect that Biden’s son is a piece of shit, and I would really like to see our president spend as much effort trying to get a living wage for the American people as he does trying to keep his offspring out of jail.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Agreed.

"Write a Check for $11,000. She Was 26, She Had Limited Value." [Seattle Police] Officer Jokes with Police Union Leader About Killing of Pedestrian by Fellow Cop (publicola.com)

In a conversation with Mike Solan, the head of the Seattle Police Officers’ Guild, Seattle Police Department officer and SPOG vice president Daniel Auderer minimized the killing of 23-year-old student Jaahnavi Kandula by police officer Kevin Dave and joked that she had “limited value” as a “regular person” who was only...

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Can’t expect anything different from the police when both major parties will do nothing meaningful to hold them accountable. You want change? You have to vote for it.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

The problem is it won’t change anything.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Might as well, really. Most people in this country experience no meaningful difference in their life regardless of who we elect.

And they know it, which is why so many don’t bother.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

If you blast your music loudly enough to bother your neighbors you deserve to reap the bullshit you’ve sown.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

This.

I don’t know about Reddit, but YouTube 100% drives engagement by feeding users increasingly flammable and hateful content.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I almost want Trump to bite it just so I don’t have to see any more of these headlines made by people salivating over an imprisonment that’s just never going to happen.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

He has proven to be remarkably hardy for someone who subsists on big macs.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Unfortunately, it could happen.

Most of the country is dealing with a 30% to 50% cost of living increase, and they’re going to blame Biden for it. Trump got elected the first time because 6,000,000 were foreclosed upon when Obama was president.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

That was the argument people made for Hillary’s certain victory on Election Day, that the notion of Trump being elected would mean a huge Democratic turnout.

Thing is, people aren’t going to give a shit who the candidate of change is when they can’t afford their grocery bills, and Trump isn’t going to have to lie about how little Biden has done to alleviate people’s poverty.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

It’s good to vote, for sure.

I’ll be voting Green myself.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I’m guessing most of you have lived in America long enough to know that we prefer our public policy to exercise cruelty in any way possible.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I am the only person at my gym who consistently takes steps to keep myself safe.

I wish everyone did, but I know better. There was a two-week period in June 2020 when Kansas City reopened without a mask mandate, and the carelessness on display told me everything I need to know. And then we had the Delta variant, whose epicenter was Springfield, Missouri.

People are disgusting. I 100% trust people to do the wrong thing.

Push To Strip Fox’s Broadcast License Over Election Lies Gains New Momentum (abovethelaw.com)

Last July, we noted how media reform activists had petitioned the FCC to revoke Fox News’ local broadcast license in Philadelphia. More specifically, the group argued that Fox News’ rampant election fraud propaganda technically violated the “character clause” embedded in the Communications Act the FCC is supposed to use...

Maybe it won’t happen, but this is the kind of clever stuff you see The Satanic Temple doing, and for that reason, it’s probably worth the effort.

Reddit users are reporting Christian websites for violating Virginia's new porn identification law, citing vulgar passages in the Bible (www.insider.com)

As more and more states pass laws targeting "pornographic material" in books and online, they are repeatedly running up against a problem: The Bible has not just a few passages that could be considered indecent

I mean, it wasn’t that long ago that we learned PD’s in major cities were running black sites.

'Trump isn't funding any of us': Co-defendants in Georgia case are struggling with mounting legal bills (www.cnn.com)

Some of Donald Trump’s co-defendants in the sprawling election subversion case in Georgia are trying all sorts of ways to fund their mounting legal bills – yet the costs of the 2020 election fallout may quickly exceed their abilities to pay....

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Jesus.

Most of these people that went along with Trump are actually marginally intelligent… and yet they trusted him to pay his bills.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Unfortunately, it absolutely does.

These people aren’t stupid, and they leveraged his presidency perfectly. They were remiss in their failure to pick up a history book because they seem honestly shocked that Trump, while he demands loyalty, shows loyalty to absolutely no one but himself.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

“Fatally striking”

The AP is usually pretty neutral, but that language is way, way too euphemistic here. The real work is murdering. The cop murdered this person.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I couldn’t care less about the legal definition.

This cop had a history of pulling shit like this. He’s a murderer, and people being willing to make excuses for it and treating the police as some sort of civic religion is how we got here.

FlashMobOfOne, (edited )
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

It’s only a big deal if they vote in a way that makes it a big deal. Look at the Supreme Court. It’s majority is black and female, but that didn’t stop them from killing the right to abortion.

Otherwise, it’s just meaningless symbolism. (But I hope this person uses their vote to do good things.)

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Agreed.

Trump has a very good chance of making it back, and when he does, everything he did up to and including 1/6 will be validated. We will be an overtly fascist country for at least four years, but likely longer.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Won’t be hard to do when they don’t have to lie about what a shitty president Biden has been for the poor and middle class. He won 2016 because 6,000,000 lost their homes under Obama and he didn’t do anything meaningful to stop it.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t support it, but I’m a Democratic Socialist. You guys elect shitty people and don’t listen to us and then inexplicably blame us for your failures.

And I do sorta hate that team color is so important to you and yours that it’s going to lead to the US becoming a legit fascist country.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

What you think is irrelevant. You’re just as powerless as the rest of us to stop this.

We voted anti-fascist in 2020. What we got was (depending on where you live) a 30% - 50% cost of living increase, a trillion-plus war spending per year (and we can’t know the exact figure because we’re funding other countries’ wars now too), a national abortion ban, and zero action on housing scarcity on top of it. We got no meaningful action against anyone involved in the January 6th domestic terrorist attack, despite Biden having Congress on top of the presidency. We might be lucky and get one high-profile Proud Boy behind bars, maybe.

This isn’t an intentional misdirection. This is reality.

The people we voted for did a shit job, and as we saw in 1930’s Germany, no one is going to care if a person is fascist or not if that person is the candidate of change. 2024 is a lost cause, and it’s because Democrats didn’t do more when we handed them power.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I cannot caps this enough.

ABOUT. GODDAMN. TIME.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Both parties have let them do just that for 43 years. Of course they’re gonna sue. Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if a lawsuit becomes an excuse for Democrats to throw out exceedingly beneficial legislation like this.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I always expect the other shoe to drop whenever Democrats pretend to be progressive.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Yes.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Street preachers

They’re awful and disruptive.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Agreed.

I’ll gain an iota of respect for Frankie and Catholics when they unilaterally decide to stop donating money to this church until they purge all of the child rapists and reform their teachings on confessions so child rapists are no longer protected.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

100%

And the Catholics were cool with him.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Really though, the most evil thing is cancer

Another reason why, if God exists at all, they’re not worth a penny of my income or a moment of my time.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Taxing them all would just open the floodgates.

You say that as if it’s a bad thing.

These assholes should deal with a real flood for once.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

For me, in my deepest depressive state, I found stupid movies to be a really good tool for managing my symptoms. My go-tos were Ocean’s 8 and Rampage.

There was just something about pointless entertainment that occupied my time well without eliciting emotional responses. (ie, emotional responses I was incapable of regulating)

FlashMobOfOne, (edited )
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Umm, a few.

The IT Crowd, Ted, Dodgeball, Zoolander, Office Space

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I’m a skeptic but did once see something anomalous that fit the description of a Bigfoot.

This was pre-cell phone camera and I was a kid, didn’t have one on me, but I saw a large dark shape walking upright and chasing a herd of deer in a forest.

The other side of that coin is that I was a kid who enjoyed reading books about monsters, so I probably rationalized something natural in my head.

It was honestly a little scary.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

98% of the people who vote are voting for repressive corporate culture.

The people who don’t vote can’t afford to miss a day of work, and even if they did, they know the people they have to choose from won’t do anything to change it.

Therefore these polls are meaningless.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Somehwere between 3000-4000 hours, 23 years of playing persistent worlds on Neverwinter Nights.

Most of that occurred between 2002-2010. It was legit a gaming addiction.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Sounds to me like Pence was tipped off.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I hope you’re right.

Every other person who’s indicted or “booked” Trump in this country seems to have done it solely for performative political points, judging by the total lack of actual police procedures they’ve followed thus far.
