Elivey,

Mine has been WaiFu for the last couple years.

Elivey,

To you. That’s a you problem.

Elivey,

Business degrees have a curriculum designed for toddlers to make sure they have plenty of time to go to their frat parties on the weekend.

Elivey,

They do all that at their frat parties while spiking women’s drinks.

Elivey,

It’s absolutely worse!!!

Because it tastes like shit that’s all lol

Elivey,

Ah, you mean Firefox and ublock origin? I love free stuff!

Elivey,

Wants to be an oncologist because his father died from blood cancer… So tragic.

Elivey,

Dude there’s people who think the death is flat, this isn’t that crazy.

Elivey,

If there weren’t price tags in the pic I would have guessed this would be $25-$30. This type of convenient food, none the less fancier versions of convenient foods, are expensive. Go figure.

If “proper shopping” is buying cheap and healthy food then yeah OP you suck at it.

Elivey,

Unfortunately, not instead of, but as well as… We’re still dealing with the anti climate change and evolution people =\

Elivey,

It’s all about risk. Smoking doesn’t automatically mean you’ll get lung cancer, but it greatly increases your risk. Same goes for refusing any vaccine that could be potentially life saving to a child, it greatly increases their risk of death.

But sorry a meme wasn’t extremely precise with its verbiage lol

Elivey,

If they were arrested for endangering the lives of children I bet they wouldn’t.

Second person to receive experimental pig heart transplant dies nearly six weeks after procedure (www.cnn.com)

Lawrence Faucette, the second living person to receive a genetically modified pig heart in a transplant, has died six weeks after the experimental procedure. The University of Maryland Medical Center, where the experimental procedure had been performed, said the heart began to show signs of rejection in recent days....

Elivey,

Taking immunology right now, it’s incredibly complicated. Immune cells aren’t like any other cells in our bodies, they’re absolutely bonkers.

Elivey,

From what I’ve heard Europe is way more gatekeepey with their bathrooms. Having ones you have to pay for? It’s extremely rare for a place to not have a bathroom here, even in a city.

Edit: I think I grew up in one of the states where they’re pretty strict about having bathrooms. Blue states rule lol

Elivey,

I ain’t 'fraid of no -sleepin

I ain’t 'fraid of no -bed

Elivey,

Unless they’re renting a whole house or townhouse no, it’s not.

Elivey,

If I remember correctly, her labia got fused together… Super fucked up burns.

Elivey,

Smart phones aren’t killing us and everything else on the planet.

Elivey,

Yeah, me I do, which is why I want to get rid of these forever chemicals because that’s how we’re going to end up with 40 year lifespans again.

We aren’t getting rid of our nutritious diets and vaccines which are the two biggest factors in history that have extended average lifespans. Not Teflon pans and firefighting materials.

Elivey,

You underestimate the toxicity of PFAS chemicals and their manufacture. I work in a toxicology lab, I know a lot of people researching PFAS right now.

To make PTFE, they used to use a chemical called PFOA, which causes multiple types of cancer and other pathologies. Everyone has been exposed to it, especially since they have been found to just dump it in whatever river is convenient. They had to stop using it after getting sued, but now they just use a different chemical that had been show to have the same effects. And again, they’re just dumping it into rivers knowing the fines for polluting won’t be as bad as actually containing the chemical properly.

That is one PFAS chemical. There are so many others. Do not let corporations poison you for profit and then lick their boots for the privilege.

Elivey,

Four words: Investing in public transportation.

Elivey,

Uhh, you say .00001% that MIGHT? I think you mean: nearly twice as much because EV’s go through tires nearly twice as fast, and ABSOLUTELY ARE. Microplastics are shed from tires, I don’t know what makes you think they aren’t. All that tire tread that is now gone on your tires when they go “bald” didn’t just disappear, they shed into the air and the rain washes them down into streams.

Also fun fact, EV tire particles are even more toxic than regular tires. And regular tire particles are already one of the most toxic microplastics studied.

I work in a nano particle toxicology lab that has a pretty big focus on micro and nanoplaatics.

Elivey,

I mean, from this thread it shows people kinda remember stuff from those classes, but are missing a lot. Which is understandable, people left school and didn’t use that information, it doesn’t make you stupid.

But then you think, oh yeah! I remember how to make electricity, I need copper and an iron rock! So you spend all this time trying to manufacture some relatively thin copper wire, iron would probably be a little easier to find, wrap it around and then you’re like… Okay what went wrong? Annnnd you can’t remember you actually needed a magnet and you gotta spin it.

Then do you remember learning how to store it? Connect it to anything useful? Maybe kinda, but extrapolate the first situation to every topic ever and that’s what you’d get, half baked ideas that you don’t really remember the specifics of. And the specifics really actually matter lol.

Elivey,

Here’s a fun fact because I work in a lab that studies micro and nanoplastics:

Of all the plastics we have studied, tire particles are THE FUCKING ABSOLUTE WORST. They leach all sorts of nasty shit.

Elivey, (edited )

You know how you have to buy tires every few years because they “go bald”? As in, they’ve lost that material that was once tread? That material isn’t just disappearing, it flies off the tires in the form of tiny particles that are in the air and water. It’s actually really toxic too, way more than other plastics. Fun fact EV tires are even more toxic.

Source: I work in a toxicology lab studying microplastics.

Elivey,

Better than getting nothing during that time! $200/day for me would be a lot of money.

Elivey,

I didn’t see anything in the article about her applying to a religious scholarship. Source?

Elivey,

She was in the background of the video, dancing while a different girl in the foreground was twerking. Did you even read the article? So just never go outside and dance ever because someone might record you dancing near someone else twerking and post it? Wtf kind of victim blaming is this? It doesn’t say she applied for a christian scholarship either.

Elivey,

DON’T GIVE THEM IDEAS!

Elivey,

If you read the message from the screen shot it says in the form of an “Amazon gift card”.

Elivey,

Just move to America if you want unsafe roads for bikers and parking lot after parking lot.

Elivey,

Japan literally has privatized roads and it’s kind of a nightmare. You have to pay tolls for nearly all highway transportation because it’s owned by 3 companies.

Yeah, privatization is great…

Elivey,

You didn’t watch the video did you?

Pop Culture Detective is a channel with videos that take months for him to painstakingly write and produce. They are not lazy cherry picked videos for clicks and likes. He is a very intelligent, thoughtful, thought provoking, detailed, kind, and well read man who cares a lot about the way we portray many toxic attitudes in video media, and in particular, toxic masculinity.

The writing of BBT is far more lazy and unintelligent than the videos made by Pop Culture Detective. He cares about context, and he cares about accuracy.

Elivey,

Why the fuck would I spend like a hundred hours to a show that I already know is objectively bad? I’m gonna actually die one day, I’m not wasting my life on a shitty show I already know I don’t like based off the two episodes I have seen because someone on the internet is butthurt that people are pointing out their fav show is misogynistic, homophobic, and shitty.

You want to know who watched it in it’s entirety though? Pop culture detective, 3 times.

Elivey,

I use the ethanol and kimwipes to clean mine all the time lol they’re probably a little scratchy but better than my shirt. They’re just too convenient when they’re everywhere.

Elivey,

I saw a minivan go by just the other day that had large homemade foam (?) syringe on top of their car with the word “genocide” painted on. They’re still waiting for it to happen.

Republican opposition to abortion threatens global HIV/AIDS program that has saved 25 million lives (apnews.com)

The AIDS epidemic has killed more than 40 million people since the first recorded cases in 1981, tripling child mortality and carving decades off life expectancy in the hardest-hit areas of Africa, where the cost of treatment put it out of reach. Horrified, then-President George W. Bush and the U.S. Congress two decades ago...

Elivey,

I took medical anthropology recently and this is the best answer. Helping others, even if they seem too far away to affect you in your individualist isolationist country, will actually affect your health.

Elivey,

Uh, yeah, it is. What you just described kicks ass.

Elivey,

My boyfriend literally worked full time through his entire time in college which only covered rent, food, bare necessities, nothing leftover to cover books or tuition. He graduated magna cum laude, straight A student but he didn’t get any scholarships. Stayed up till 1 or 2 working at restaurants all week, woke up for 9am classes, both of which he had to bike to because he didn’t live on campus or at home like you.

You did experience the exception. Plenty of people make just as many and * way more* sacrifices than you and it doesn’t get them nearly as far.

Elivey,

Yes yes yes! Cannot recommend this channel enough! Thought of this video as well lol

Do you think we will ever have affordable housing again in our lifetime?

Considering how crazy expensive accommodations have become the last couple of years, concentrated in the hands of greedy corporations, landlords and how little politicians seem to care about this problem, do you think we will ever experience a real estate market crash that would bring those exorbitant prices back to Earth?

Elivey,

That would put me at getting my parents house when I’m like 65 because that’s how old my Dad is and his Dad only recently passed away (grandma died a couple years ago). Nice plan there.

Elivey,

How dare you make me see this with my morning tea.

Elivey,

Murder investigations can take years to get the person responsible on for trial even when in hindsight the evidence makes it seem obvious who did it.

This isn’t a murder obviously but it is multiple messy messy cases with lots of moving delicate parts that as people who have never done a criminal investigation can’t even imagine. I wouldn’t want to rush into a case and end up bungling it because I didn’t take my time.

Elivey,
  1. You say it’s widely known with no evidence. Widely known to some does not mean it is known to everyone.
  2. The guardian is reporting what they the family were told by the nurse. If you read the original Time article they say that precisely, the nurse told them that’s where the nearest place was. Whether the nurse was correct or not is not what they claimed.
