I was going through Pine64’s page again after I found the latest KDE announcement. With that said, I seem to see a lot of issues with firmware on the Pine, whilst the Librem is just plain out of budget for me. Was interested in how many people here run a Linux mobile as a daily driver, and how has your experience been?...
It would be awesome if we could just install whatever like we can on pcs. On phones you still need a developer to make a specific rom for that device, we were close with Generic System Images (GSIs), but I don’t think they really went anywhere
The game is pretty good, but it definitely does get pretty repetitive. Especially the side missions which pretty much all come down to tracking some footsteps and killing a few enemies

It’s a feature that no one wants and is annoying and badly thought out but you can turn it off but they haven’t disabled any functionality to add this feature
I was talking to my dad yesterday and he talked about how he dual booted windows and Linux in his college days. I immediately left to download Ubuntu, I feel so dumb for forgetting it’s an option. It is google Android but they do not pay for the name so they call it ‘FairphoneOS’.
That’s not how that works, they call it FairphoneOS because they added their own customizations. Default Android is pretty barebones nowadays so nobody uses that. You dont have to pay Google to use the Android name
Depends on how many applications you have I guess, I keep my number of applications down, so the amount per letter is at max like 5 or 6, so searching doesn’t take a long time at all
I don’t know how much that 8350 uses at idle, but that cpu is really old now and certainly not known for being power efficiënt. Honestly I think you’re better off getting something more modern, if you buy used it doesn’t have to be expensive either.
With modern hardware neither of those really are an issue. You can get a 1 TB nvme ssd for €50 and 2 TB for less than a 100. That should lend you plenty of storage and speed
I have a Deezer subscription and use an application called Deemix to download all my music in FLAC format. I’m not sure if there’s still a download available for Deemix, but there are alternatives as well
Alice in borderlands was pretty good, although the conclusion of season 2 didn’t feel satisfactory and the teaser for season 3 in that last episode was even worse imo
There are some brands of bicycles that can cost more than the down payment on a car. Why? Surely making a bike lightweight and reliable isn’t so difficult that it warrants that price? Is it just the brand name or maybe it has to do with customization options?
I haven’t played the games and even I knew the movie wasn’t accurate to the games, although there are a lot of references according to friends. The movie isn’t very good, a few plot points could easily be explained away, typical “I don’t have time to explain” type stuff. But it could still be a decent watch, although don’t expect to get scared because it’s not very scary

You can train a cat to shit in the toilet and flush. Also, we accidently locked our cat out of access to the litter box at night ones and he shat in the corner of a closet, which I honestly just found very sad but polite
I have not, you have to train them from a really young age as cats get stubborn when they get older. We got our cat from a shelter, so we never got the chance to try. but basically you have to start with getting a litterbox which you can put on the toilet, after a while you can remove it and they keep dumping their load there. Not sure how you would get them to flush, but I have heard of cats doing just that
I’m not against distros as a whole, some extra work will be inevitable because people have different preferences, but it feels like a waste having a Firefox package for arch, ubuntu, fedora and Debian while essentially all being identical. Indeed flatpak isn’t perfect yet, but it works great for me and it’s steadily improving
How many of you run a Linux phone (Pine64, Librem etc) as your daily driver?
