I would love the child of a Surfacebook with a Framework laptop; or A bare keyboard attached to a screen, that I could plug my phone (possibly running Phosh) and use it as a hardware for a laptop experience
Whoa, I’ve been having this exact problem for years and it’s been troubling me, especially in my new job. I keep needing to ask people to repeat themselves unless I’m facing them, focused on them, and within a short distance of them. We also use earpieces at work and I’m sometimes struggling to hear what I’m being told through them. It can cause embarrassment.
I’ve never been diagnosed with ADHD nor do I have any diagnosed hearing problems. I’ve always wondered if its just related to my shy personality or if I have poor active listening skills, but your comment made me think that I should speak to someone about it.
One of the most aggravating things to me in this world has to be the absolutely rampant anti-intellectualism that dominates so many conversations and debates, and its influence just seems to be expanding. Do you think there will ever actually be a time when this ends? I'd hope so once people become more educated and cultural...
Science is the best means by which we can understand the objective truth about the world around us. It’s a shame that people are rejecting it in favour of conspiracy and superstition.
Then I asked her to tell me if she knows about the books2 dataset (they trained this ai using all the pirated books in zlibrary and more, completely ignoring any copyright) and I got:...
One of the things I hate the most about current AI is the lecturing and moralising. It’s so annoyingly strict, even when you’re asking for something pretty innocent.
I got AI to generate an image very similar to a piece of digital artwork I did, based on a description. In the space of 10 or so seconds, it created something that looks much better than the piece that took me like 4 hours to do. And I think it really captured the mood and spirit of what I originally made.
I think AI can generate some really excellent pieces, sometimes it just takes a few regenerations and changes to your description prompt. Although it’s not perfect, it’s become pretty amazing IMO.
Man I uninstalled Steep from my PC yesterday. I had to download an update to their shitty launcher and then login just to remove a game from my PC. I also have ghost recon on Epic games which requires you to use the launcher to launch another launcher to launch the game.
Buying the games is genuinely a worse experience than pirating them. Fuck Ubisoft but also EA and other publishers that do this bullshit.
Bing AI rocks! It’s so cool how it works with SwiftKey to make typing easier and faster. I love how it can suggest words, emojis, and even GIFs based on what I’m writing. It also helps me with spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Bing AI is like a smart friend who always knows what to say.
It’s a decent browser, but half the reason people hate it is because MS tries to force it on you. They should let it stand on its own merits then maybe it wouldn’t have such a negative reception.
Ridiculous how some are trying to obfuscate the man’s involvement with Nazism. He joined a Nazi organisation, he’s a Nazi. Nazis are bad and should not be allowed to escape justice. Call a pig a pig.
The Tories here in the UK are trying to emulate the GOP, of that there is no doubt. They’d also force us poors back into victorian era workhouses given the chance.
I think that we in the west sometimes fall into the trap of believing that our core values of freedom and democracy are supreme and are what all people across the world want to achieve and should aspire to.
Maybe a lot of people in China think that a strong centralised government guiding the economy and most aspects of people’s lives is the sign of a healthy society and they are happy with it. Maybe they think it’s we who are sick because we don’t like the state being too involved in our lives. To them, perhaps it’s complete insanity.
Idk, I might be talking complete bs. I just think that different people have different values and there’s no right answer to how society is set up.

Mr Trump made the gaffe about the threat of World War II — which finished in 1945 — during the part of his address in which he was questioning the mental acuity of 80-year-old Mr Biden.
People generally shouldn’t get mad as long as you’re behaving in good faith. It’s like accidentally calling someone by the wrong name, you just apologise and correct your mistake.
Trans and non-binary people often get portrayed as if they’re monsters, but most are reasonable people who can understand mistakes and are capable of accepting apologies.
Should we ever discover real aliens, I’m confident they won’t look like the stereotypical little green men that humanity has portrayed them as in popular culture for decades.
Once upon a time I actually liked Russell Brand. Thought he was intelligent and quite in touch with the ways of the world despite his eccentric character. He truly lost the plot when covid came around, although it wasn’t the first time he’d talked absolute shite.
In hindsight, it’s not really a surprise that he’d be this kind of person.
In the UK you can be blacklisted from all sorts of services if you have a criminal record or poor financial history. And our police have experimented with facial recognition + have arrested people for posts on social media. Not to mention the Tory government trying to outlaw protest & dissent.
Smartphones have just been so boring for the past few years. Ever since they all started getting full screen displays and multiple cameras, every year has felt like small incremental upgrades. You probably wouldn’t gain very much by upgrading even from a 3 year old phone.
iPhones won’t be interesting to me again until they get a completely new form factor like folding or something.
What is the device you want, but that does not exist?
