Catsrules,

It’s Epic

That doesn’t sound very Epic to me.

Catsrules,

Why stop there? Destroy all of our phones and computers disconnect yourself from the internet and go live off the land in the woods.

Catsrules,

Believing in God is about as realistic as believing the world is flat.

That is a bad comparison IMO. We have piles and piles of hard evidence the Earth is round. Saying the Earth is flat is just factually incorrect at this point.

But the existence of God. I would argue we have no hard evidence of God’s existence nor do we have hard evidence that God doesn’t exist. As far as science is concerned it is still a theory.

On top of that what makes a god a God there are multiple definitions of a God. If simulation theory is correct and we are all just in a simulation would be people outside of the simulation be our Gods? Or if an extremely advanced civilization existed would they be Gods to us? Or If we as humans advanced enough could we become Gods our self.

Catsrules,

Believe is a powerful thing I would ague even if what you belief is wrong if that belief brings you peace it is not a false peace.

Catsrules,

We also have a lot of evidence that snakes can’t speak, people can’t turn plain water into wine, walk on the water and so on.

If I am remembering my stories correctly the snake wasn’t a normal snake but more of a representation of Satan. And I think god turned the water into wine and walked on water. We aren’t talking about an average person. Neither Satan nor God is around to let us do some experiments on.

Claiming something which can neither be proven or disproven is what constitutes a pseudoscience. By that logic I could claim that we are in fact giant pink elefants hopping around on the moon, while imagining our reality as we currently think to perceive it. Since you can’t disprove that, I must be right. Or am I not?

Yeah fair enough but my point still stands that comparison between god and flat earth is still a bad comparison. Considering the Earth is here right now, and we can experiment on it.

Catsrules,

Is this an unpopular option?

Catsrules,

Meanwhile, the alien is a political refugee and freedom fighter fleeing from his own people who want him dead for —get this— existing.

To be fair they did offer him a chance to see if there was good in him but he insulted them instead, and after that they sentenced him to be banished on an asteroid not death.

Catsrules,

So why not just use the van?

Using the right tool for the right job.

Open bed of a truck is very handy for very tall items or stuff that needs to be dumped like rocks, dirt etc… Or if your towing a very large load with goose neck trailer.

Catsrules,

But a van and a truck are used for different things. Your not going to see a van around the farm for example because it just isn’t that useful for farm work. Just like your not going to see a truck out delivering packages because it just isn’t the useful for that use case. Many of these vehicles have the exact same frame and engion just with a different body on top for whatever best fits the use case.

Catsrules,

Here is the actual report by CR

consumerreports.org/…/electric-vehicles-are-less-…

There reasoning for this

“Most electric cars today are being manufactured by either legacy automakers that are new to EV technology, or by companies like Rivian that are new to making cars,” says Jake Fisher, senior director of auto testing at Consumer Reports. “It’s not surprising that they’re having growing pains and need some time to work out the bugs.” Fisher says some of the most common problems EV owners report are issues with electric drive motors, charging, and EV batteries.

Catsrules,

Yeah that is good, as they should as most of these issues are manufacture or engineering defects of the car. But it is still a hassle to deal with as a consumer. No one wants to get stranded on the side of the road in a broken down car.

This stuff might also affect your resell value as well,

Catsrules,

That is a hard one, honestly as someone who has been health all of their life I don’t think I can comprehend what your going though and can’t put myself in your shoes.

Sorry this will be the most boring answer but personally I would spend my final days with my family and friends. I don’t think it really matters what I do with them. We could go on a trip or say home and binge watch a TV show, go out to eat play video games whatever.

I do think I would continue to try and figure out what is wrong with me. I am naturally curious and want to try and fix things or at least figure out the cause. I would probably grab a Steam Deck and play some games at the hospital. Kill two birds one stone.

Help me choose my mobile browser

As per title, Help me choose a browser for android I have non rooted device. After all the researches I found best for me would be 1: Mull but with Some way for knowing which site have saved any data on my device (Maybe by extension or some defined page like about:config type) But as per my research I do not found any such...

Catsrules,

Why not go directly to the source?

github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/releases

Catsrules,

Yeah, you loose auto updates but just saying there is a way if you don’t want to use other options.

US govt pays AT&T to let cops search Americans' phone records – 'usually' without a warrant (www.theregister.com)

A senator has complained that American law enforcement agencies snoop on US citizens and residents, seemingly without regard for the privacy provisions of the Fourth Amendment, under a secret program called the Hemisphere Project that allows police to conduct searches of trillions of phone records.

Catsrules,

Glad to see my tax dollars going to a good cause. /s

Catsrules,

That looks really cool. That is very thin thread. Is the entire ball the same size thred or is it thick go create the structure and gets thin at the end?

How long did it take you.

Catsrules,

Not an Elon Fan but saying the richest man is the world was just incredible lucky is a little ridiculous. I am sure luck played a part but I don’t think Musk is the Inspector Clouseau of the business world. At least not in the 90s and 2000s.

Catsrules,

Except life is much more complicated than that.

Working hard and being smart doesn’t equal to having lots of money.

Luck also doesn’t equal having lots of money. How many “lucky” people have won the jack pot? And lost it all in a manner of months/years?

Not saying luck doesn’t play a part maybe even a huge part but it just seems silly to attribute someone’s success to luck.

Catsrules,

I bet D.E. Shaw & Co. Are kicking themselves right now lol.

Catsrules,

I had to guess he probably changed. You don’t think being super rich changes you?

Catsrules, (edited )

Please reflect on the fact that until you joined the discussion,

Please lets not be condescending here. I will rephrase, instead of success I will say wealth. I used the two interchangeably as many people judge your success based on your wealth.

we didn’t talk about equating success to luck.

Didn’t you say this here.

On the other side of the argument, the amount of people that work harder and smarter than any given billionaire and have nothing is simply staggering. If it wasn’t down to luck, they’d all be billionaires.

Catsrules,

Wealth itself is a stronger predictor for future wealth than individual performance.

I agree with that.

Catsrules,

Is there a solution to this issue?

Ultimately you need some kind of mods.

Catsrules, (edited )

Generally when I hear people discussing fiber the big costs is actually running the cables and terminating and splicing the ends, the actual cable itself is relatively inexpensive from my understanding.

But with regard to stealing cable, you really can’t do much with a fiber cable on the secondary market besides using it for fiber, and you also would probably need to re-terminate it that can be very costly. Compared to copper or other type of metal cables that can be sold very easily for scrap metal. That can be melted down and made into something else or just reused as cable.

Catsrules,

What happens if i pay $1.50?

Do I get .50 back? Or do i get half a sandwich or do I just get bread or just cheese or a bread with cheese but not grilled?

Catsrules,

I was thinking maybe they bake the coins in with the grilled cheese . Who doesn’t live a chocking hazard/chipped tooth?

Catsrules,

I would say that is more spam than ad.

Catsrules,

I never updated my address and they have still found me. Personally i think it is mortgage companies.

I guess that is one good thing about renting. Your name isn’t really tied to a property at least as far as public records are concerned.

Catsrules,

Yeah but games already take a pile of money to create. I would think the initial sales would be mostly used up to cover the creation if the game.

Catsrules,

I am pretty sure that is just a show funded by the US air force. Probably to discredit the real proof.

Proton Mail CEO Calls New Address Verification Feature 'Blockchain in a Very Pure Form' (tech.slashdot.org)

Proton Mail, the leading privacy-focused email service, is making its first foray into blockchain technology with Key Transparency, which will allow users to verify email addresses. From a report: In an interview with Fortune, CEO and founder Andy Yen made clear that although the new feature uses blockchain, the key technology...

Catsrules,

Blockchains are an immutable ledger, meaning any data initially entered onto them can’t be altered. Yen realized that putting users’ public keys on a blockchain would create a record ensuring those keys actually belonged to them – and would be cross-referenced whenever other users send emails. “In order for the verification to be trusted, it needs to be public, and it needs to be unchanging,” Yen said.

Catsrules,

That I don’t know the answer too. And i would like more information about how it works. I am mostly familiar with Crypto in block chains work and I still wouldn’t say i fully understand that either.

I am also a little confused when they say unchanging. Sure block chain are unchanging but I am assuming you can add new data that would take priority of old data. I don’t think you would want a system that you could never change your key once you add it. Because that is stupid keys can and will get compromised eventually.

People who read marketing emails, where do you find the time to do so? And why?

I assume there are people who read these things, otherwise companies wouldn’t send me so many of them. I seem to get daily spam from literally any company I’ve ever interacted with in any way, and they are long boys full of text and pictures that Thunderbird helpfully hides from me but I presume are full of jagged brightly...

Catsrules,

To be honest, I don’t read any email unless I specifically search for it. Not even at work. Email is an antiquated service and it needs to die

So what communication are you using that is basically universally used?

Catsrules,

Glad there is a chance for humanity after all.

Catsrules,

Personally I consider a tape only a valid solution in the 100+TB range. (At least cost wise) Unless you happen to have a tape drive already at your disposal…

Catsrules,

That looks really cool, it is a shame it couldn’t get where it needed to be for a long term business.

Catsrules,

If google takeout isn’t your thing I think you can generate this list using YT-DLP.

Catsrules,

Well it is a flooded crackhome now :(

Catsrules,

My favorite app.

Catsrules, (edited )

Because Privacy isn’t 1 or 0 situation. It is granular thing you may think using YouTube crosses the line but others might not agree.

We as a community can choose what crosses the line for this community.

Personally I am fine with YouTube links, there is usually a bot posting a more private link down below if you want. It makes it easy to pick one of the other it isn’t that big of a deal.

Catsrules,

I guess it could replicate itself but a slightly smaller version.

Catsrules,

Yeah that would work assuming there isn’t a part that is one single large part. I am thinking like a big side panel or support structure.

I guess you weld parts together after the replication.

Catsrules,

They can never recover from that.
