I would argue that just because something that could work doesn’t mean it is the best fit for the job for one reason or another.
We have multiple programming languages, database, filesystem, media formats etc…etc… Those also generally perform the same thing but some do certain things better and you pick whatever one best fits your needs.
why can block chain and go both existing and fit whatever role best fits them?
Not saying block chain / NFTs are the answer to ownership tracking just saying we shouldn’t write them off just because something else might work.
Probably a boring answer but I know my grandmother’s credit card information. I live with and help take care of her, so she doesn’t mind sharing it with me. Not like I’m planning to do anything nefarious, but I guess technically it could ruin her financially.
I would also include support for Dynamic DNS and API access as well. Those both can come in handy depending on what your doing. I know this wasn’t as common years back but maybe it is more supported now.
I used Namecheap and I think they required that I have like $50 credit on my account before the API access would open up. Maybe that has changed, like I said this was years ago last time I need to look.
Author can’t seem to understand that Valve’s the only company that can properly do the console-style “subsidize hardware cost based on the cut you’ll get from selling the games”
I disagree on Valve being the only company. I don’t think your traditional PC hardware companies could pull it off, however I think a company that has an successful enough online store could do it. Microsoft could do it If they wanted to. They might already be in that path as the Xbox becomes more PC like. It wouldn’t surprise me if there was an option to buy Windows for the Xbox.
Also depending on your definition of PC, love them or hate them but Apple potentially could do something like that. However I would be very surprised as Apple isn’t in the business if subsided cost on hardware lol.
Also why are there flames erupting from the consoles anyways. Shouldn’t those just be a bunch of computers? Do future computers run off propane or something?

Sure there are ways around most of this. Presentation of a death certificate usually will get you access to most things eventually. But sometimes that takes time and a lot of administrative for the family.
At least that is what I have heard, thankfully I haven’t had to deal with a family death personally.
Almost every smart TV I have played with you can set them up to just go to an HDMI input and turn off any “home” menus screens. You also can usually skip any Network setup.
I have played with LG, Vizio, Samsung and Sony TVs all have had options to do this. (But this has been over the last 1-7 years).
Speaking of holographic food, could you eat holographic food and have the same taste? Guessing you couldn’t get nutrients from it but I am just imagining. Eating cake and pie and no calories.

I swear I have seen a machine, but it was super expensive and I think you had to give I it clothes in a certain way. At that point I think I would just fold them myself.
I wanted to just give it a laundry basket and let it go to work.
