Wtf are you talking about? What I said, is that the licensing fees google charges for use of their products already covers the costs of development they put into android. They don’t use Google play store revenues to cover costs, because those costs are already covered before anyone makes a purchase from the Google Play store,
Android exists because it was developed by enthusiasts. It was purchased by Google, not created by them.
Anyways, if we look at googles revenue streams, it’s clear that advertising is significantly more valuable to them than Play store, and they get much of their valuable data through the android platform. Personally, I’d argue it’s far more logical that androids continued development serves their advertising business than it is to say that android is an avenue to Google Play revenues.
Play store revenue, while sizable, is less than a quarter of the revenue collected by their advertising business. As I said, much of the data requisite for that advertisement business’ revenue is collected from the 1 billion android devices with Google services installed. You’re saying, Google would give up the data of 1 billion people, which feeds its most profitable division, because of losing the ability to earn less than a quarter of what the advertising portion of their business brings in?
I guess it’s an irrelevant point anyway, we don’t live in that world, but that’s an interesting perspective, and I don’t think I share it. I think Google could stop charging entirely for all Google play services and they would still develop android because it brings them hundreds of billions of dollars a year. I don’t think they will, mind you, so it’s again, an irrelevant point, but my point is, as I said above, Google Play revenues do not support the development of android, that development is supported by costs to manufacturers in licensing Google services, before a phone ever makes it into the hands of a consumer for them to buy apps in the Google Play store.
In most cases you can, usually it’s a bit more convoluted, like inserting your disk then upgrading through the in-game pop up, or through the dlc menu while the disk is installed.
The point is, the US has no assets on the ground, and cannot confirm or deny any intelligence from the region with any meaningful measure of certainty. They’re entirely going off of the statements of the IDF and Israeli government. Organizations which, have been shown to multiple times just in this conflict, spread false information as justification for their actions. Conversely, we do have plenty of journalists on the ground, who often contradict these intelligence briefings, and who often provide primary source documents or visual evidence of their claims.

Yeah I feel that also. That’s why I believe in democratization of the workplace. Instead of obeying the whims of a single dictator-leader or small board of directors, labor should be able to collectively decide the motivations and direction of their labor power.
With such ownership of development, instead of working for someone else’s vision, we’d be able to collectively develop and manifest a vision that isn’t predicated solely on the extraction of profit, but on the collective needs and desires of those within and without the company itself, meaning those within the community who will also be affected by the decisions of the company.
But of course, as of now, this is just the rambling dreams of one person, and not an actualized reality.

It gives a cover for their inevitable escalatory retaliation when the indigenous are forced to turn to violence to protect themselves. These tactics have been analyzed for hundreds of years, and they don’t work on people who actually read history. If you want to be an Israeli civilian, live in Israel’s territory, not the illegally occupied settlements.
A one state solution that results in the dissolution of the state of Israel entirely and the creation of a new state where Arabs aren’t held as second class citizens, where both groups live under the same laws and are prosecuted in the same Justice system.

You’re right, I can’t do much. But to say nothing we do matters is contrary to the evidence we have. Biden has gone from full throated support of Israel, to calling for a humanitarian pause, to warning them that their actions are dissolving support for them around the globe. A majority of Americans support a cease-fire, and that’s bipartisan support, republicans and democrats. The pressure is working, and no one should let up until the genocide is halted.
But suppose I concede that nothing I do will change anything, even collectively. All that means is that we’re set for WWIII. The Middle East is not going to watch the genocide of 2 million people happen without themselves retaliating. So, it’s either, we convince Israel to stop peacefully, or we risk the safety and security of the entire planet because some ethno-nationalists decided this was the perfect excuse to enact their Final Solution and we decided to fund it without any questions.
