Yeah, maybe bottom shelf kindle.

I’ve had an Oasis for a few years and it shits all over competition at the time I got it.

I just upload my own books to it.

Still this is a neat option for tinkerers.

Never mention you don’t use Linux or Firefox otherwise the neckbeards will come at you.

StarCraft could return, according to Blizzard president, but not necessarily as an RTS (www.pcgamer.com)

While Blizzard is very much focussed on its big money-makers like its various Warcraft games, from WoW to Hearthstone to Warcraft Rumble, as well as Diablo and the much-maligned Overwatch 2, he’s still open to StarCraft making a comeback. That said, RTS fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. While the series might return, that...

The next Total Annihilation is going to be balls to the wall good. Check the trailers.

Storm Gate and Zero Space are being made by ex Blizz staff. Both in alpha.

RTS is back on the menu, boys.

And the new Total Annihilation game!

OpenSUSE is very Windows like if you want a similar setup.

We have Wing in Australia and gotta say getting small tech delivered or medicine by drone is very convenient. It gets lowered instead of dropped.

Sounded nasty so I looked out up. Seems it wasn’t intentional.

This has to be satire, no (most) corporate organisations that aren’t tech builds their applications for Linux first.

To add to this you would also need to teach your entire human staff base how to Linux good luck.

AustralianSimon,
@AustralianSimon@lemmy.world avatar

OpenSUSE looks the most like Windows. The real problem is driver support being Windows first.

AustralianSimon,
@AustralianSimon@lemmy.world avatar

I’d suggest try openSuse, it’s way better than Ubuntu. I used to use Ubuntu but prefer the desktop feel and rolling updates.

A little rant about lemmy.ml

I like a lot of the communities on that instance, but every once in a while I just get hit with a random wave of toxicity by them for no reason. For example, there was a post asking which communities from Reddit do you wish existed on Lemmy, and I answered honestly saying more car related communities as they are one of my...

The people replying on your comment aren’t even from lemmy.ml

Where you see a user name with an instance after, the instance is one with access to the same content. Lots of users access the big insurances.

AustralianSimon,

I had a look at his post and none of them were actual lemmy.ml users

They changed their licensing and specifically for robot users so I suspect it’s to funnel those users into licenses which is a lot more than consumers.

NP++ is more lightweight and has some useful stuff builtin and easier to justify to IT dept to than a full IDE 🤷

Personally I prefer pycharm and Atom for my home needs.

AustralianSimon, (edited )
@AustralianSimon@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah it’s on my personal machine, I use it alongside pycharm but it’s (atom) not my main IDE, I keep it because of a few things it does. I disagree vscode is the same, it’s a poorer implementation of pycharm IMHO. Just my opinion though everyone is different in workspace.

AustralianSimon,
@AustralianSimon@lemmy.world avatar

Big brands like Lenovo, Dell, Intel work with Ubuntu pretty fine, there are compatibility tests for distros. I blind installed openSuse (after running Ubuntu beside W11) on my Lenovo Yoga from 2020 without issue aside from fingerprint scanner. All my NUCs have been great on Linux.

AustralianSimon,
@AustralianSimon@lemmy.world avatar

Look at Atom community. Speed to load is night and day.

For me, Vscode feels like a cheaper pycharm which is my primary IDE and wouldn’t change as I’ve tried vscode as an alt and it wasn’t good enough for how I work.

The lack of real stories was a disappointment but I like the whole empty world find your own fun kinda thing in NMS, we started playing after MP was fixed and within 10 mins I had a carrier 😂

Firefox always memory bloats out on me. Mobile app crashes.

I switched to Brave then moved to Vivaldi. I’ll revisit if FF gets more stable.

I really liked the Mass Effect Series, it’s no Freelancer or Freespace but if Starfield even feels a little bit like what No Man Sky was doing it should be good. Fallout series and TES proves it will be buggy but fun.

Reddit had automod which was highly configurable.

AustralianSimon,
@AustralianSimon@lemmy.world avatar

You don’t get their ip when they post from other instances. I’m surprised this hasn’t resulted in defed.

AustralianSimon,
@AustralianSimon@lemmy.world avatar

What? Reddit automod is not a source for porn. What would be happening is the large quantity of content it reacts to there.

It literally reads your config in your wiki and performs actions based on that. The porn communities using it are using it to moderate their subs. You can look at the post history. www.reddit.com/user/AutoModerator It is commenting on posts IN those communities as a reaction to triggers but isn’t posting porn (unless they put in their config)

Not worth it if you don’t moderate on reddit but read the how to docs for reddit automod, it is an excellent tool for spam management and the source is open prior to reddit acquiring it and making it shit. www.reddit.com/wiki/…/full-documentation

AustralianSimon,
@AustralianSimon@lemmy.world avatar

I mean defedding the instances the CSAM is coming from but also yes.

AustralianSimon, (edited )
@AustralianSimon@lemmy.world avatar

So you should understand that what you said is invalid. Automod doesn’t post porn without a subreddit owner configuring it to and just because it posts 2/3 to NSFW subs doesn’t mean it is posting content just working more there.

We could 100% take advantage of a similar tool, maybe we some better controls on what mods can make it do. I’m working to bring BotDefence to Lemmy because it is needed.

AustralianSimon,
@AustralianSimon@lemmy.world avatar

Too stupid to argue with. You don’t even understand your own “data”.
