My #cat, Botch, insists on eating her food straight from the can. If I don't let her, she will knock over the trash can and dig around to lick it clean anyway. This has the side effect of her face being constantly covered in dried Fancy Feast. Any attempts to get it off her face are stealing her food, after all.
She finally got a bit of comeuppance from that policy. You'll notice a tuft of missing fur on her left cheek right around the base of her whiskers. A clump of dried on food got stuck there but, instead of like normal where she eventually gets it off through licking paws and scratching it, this time a hunk of fur came with it. Now she's got a bald patch that is screwing with her ability to judge how wide things are with her whiskers.
Poor kitty, just let me help you and this won't happen.

Long gone are the good old days when a cat's biggest worries were mean dogs or a bath. Modern cats must confront satanists, online predators, the possibility of needing to survive in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, and countless other threats to their nine lives.
I, for one, am all for our our Lord and Savior, the #cat !! 🤣 🤣
"‘It’s nothing to do with me,’ he said, ‘I am not involved with people. The Lord knows I am not a cruel man.’
‘Ah!’ barked Zarniwoop, ‘you say “The Lord”. You believe in something!’
‘My cat,’ said the man benignly, picking it up and stroking it. ‘I call him The Lord..." from #therestaurantattheendoftheuniverse by #douglasadams ( #thehitchikersguidetothegalaxy series)
He's been following me around the house yelling all morning because he's now decided he won't eat anything at all unless it has sardine oil drizzled over it.
I noticed that he was tilting his head to one side and kept walking in circles to that direction. I also noticed he seemed to have a tremor to his head and was doing a strange thing with his back leg on that side as well.
I was wondering if he was perhaps having a neurological event (he's 17 years old now, and has hyperthyroidism, and I'm pretty sure he may have dementia), and was assessing whether I needed to take him to a vet today or if it could wait for his monthly vet visit on Monday.
Then I noticed that he tried to sit and scratch his ear, but got distracted by Lilith... so I grabbed his brush and gave him a good brushing on the side of his head and ear - and he's fine now.
He was itchy and kept getting too distracted to scratch his ear.
I'm now also wondering if he's been yelling at me all morning because he had an itch.. because he's settled right down now.
Today is both the autumn eqinox and time for this: https://www.skogsmaran.se/
Those passing my window on the finishing 200m are still running (at 12.15)
The less fit will come walking later …
We have had some serious rain this morning, to the extent that even the magpies sat under roof on the patio, so those passing are not only tired but also very wet. #sarassummer23
Me? I stay inside preparing meatloaf … #cooking#weather#autumn#running
This thread is coming to an end. Time to set the clocks for #wintertime
It’s 0kt 28 and outside it’s only a couple of °C. Tonight we get frost.
This very rainy summer ended in garden chaos, huge grief and disaster during October (as if not wars, and climate disasters was enough). #cat Alice is no more after 17 years together, my only companion the last 5 years. It’s very empty, quite and depressing. I lost all motivation to deal with anything - outside or inside.
