In the future, cultured meat will replace all animal-based flesh in any pet food and human food. Cultured mouse and chicken flesh, and an infinite assortment of other fish proteins, are set to appear on pet food shelves very soon.
Ethical feeding friction will become a thing of the past.
Audible recommended Kitty Cat Kill Sat to me. I was pretty sure it was a blatant attempt to get cat lovers to part with their credits and will be a sycophantic attempt at fan service. But, it was on sale and I decided to give it a go.
I was very pleasantly surprised. The cat antics are mostly kept at a low volume and Argus employs a novel approach to the problems faced by a cat "manning" a space station built for humans, approaching it as an accessibility issue.
Lily is a lonely immortal uplifted cat. As she tackles an unending series of technical issues with her space station, while trying to fight off an endless series of attacks by old tech junk left in orbit and around the solar system, as well as emergent events spewing monsters that threaten what little is left of Earth's population. It's a post apocalyptic tale of constant jerry rigging of old tech in an attempt to survive.
However it is more than that, it is a first person account of Lily's journey to deal with her loneliness and pain, to find companions that will help her get out of the rut of constant trouble shooting and find out the secrets lying at the heart of the disaster that befell the solar system.
It is not a perfect book, there is some repetition and perhaps it could have been shorter. But it was very enjoyable and the long setup pays off very nicely. It is much more than just: Cat in Space.

I do! She's a fun character. Another good one (vaguely a long the same lines) is the Katie The Cat Sitter series. They're skewed slightly younger, but are also fun reads.

This is Mila. She is 17 years old. We got her exactly 5 years ago just before Thanksgiving. She’s our thanksgiving baby kitty. For her adoption anniversary, I am going to give her a tiny piece of sashimi. Seeing her little heart-shaped nose every day has been a blessing.
He's been following me around the house yelling all morning because he's now decided he won't eat anything at all unless it has sardine oil drizzled over it.
I noticed that he was tilting his head to one side and kept walking in circles to that direction. I also noticed he seemed to have a tremor to his head and was doing a strange thing with his back leg on that side as well.
I was wondering if he was perhaps having a neurological event (he's 17 years old now, and has hyperthyroidism, and I'm pretty sure he may have dementia), and was assessing whether I needed to take him to a vet today or if it could wait for his monthly vet visit on Monday.
Then I noticed that he tried to sit and scratch his ear, but got distracted by Lilith... so I grabbed his brush and gave him a good brushing on the side of his head and ear - and he's fine now.
He was itchy and kept getting too distracted to scratch his ear.
I'm now also wondering if he's been yelling at me all morning because he had an itch.. because he's settled right down now.
