Maybe if I didn’t hear yelling and screaming out on the sidewalk because you mother fuckers can’t shut up while I’m trying to sleep in this city. Bro I should just move out to the country, and you guys stomp way too hard on the sidewalk. Like what the fuck are you stomping out there? Bugs? It’s cold out there’s no reason for you to be walking that loud. And don’t get me started on the people who use their stupid shitty small Bluetooth speakers to crank up their god-awful music. Or their friends that shout at each other from across the street, like use a cell phone you don’t got to yell like a goddamn animal. Fuck City Life man I can’t wait to move out of here
Okay you go ahead and try and sleep in a loud City and tell me how you like it? And I’ve already complained to the city about it but they just blow me off. People always say about how it’s so great to live in the city but I fucking hate it.
So that’s it then huh? Just stop throwing a tantrum? That’s how you’re going to end the argument now that vehicles are out of the question it’s just stop your tantrum? You’re so shallow
I’m glad I’m not the only one who sees this sort of thing. Yeah, cars are loud but people in cities are loud, too. And rude. And there’s so many of them.
Now do the hazards of transit in which you accurately depict how monorails have the potential for incredibly tragic death for people falling out of it if it’s overcrowded because ‘EMISSIONS’ cuz while we can talk public transport we better talk about the severely lacking supportive infrastructure for everyone going back to work when they could be perfectly fine working at home but oh no someone claimed we create just as much emissions staying at home but that is clearly ignoring that transit also creates emissions.
If you ever see a sign that says ‘don’t lean on door’ it actually means “don’t let people crowd so hard against you that you fall out the door” is more accurate of the scenario that happens. There are no bouncers on transit that can stop too many people getting on a vessel. There is also no limit on population. There is also no law stating “not everyone should show up at work at 9am exactly”
What’s your definition notion of speed? This one major street in my town was restricted from two lanes down to one through lane with turn lanes. They also reduced the speed limit and adjusted traffic lights.
Result: much safer AND you reliably get through in less time. No stop and go, no weaving or merging, just slow and steady winning the race
It is true that speed is more dangerous but how much more? Hopefully once we’ve dismantled most car infrastructure we can have separate travel lanes for bikes and pedestrians but right now I’m comfortable sharing. Bicycle collisions just aren’t very dangerous compared to car collisions.
Tell that to the relatives of that grandma who was run over and killed by a speeding biker in a pedestrian zone two weeks ago. He drove off when he saw her down and is still at large.
I agree with you that for deaths, this is nowhere close. But the relationship is there. You complain about the cars, but most bikers I see behave as badly to pedestrians as bikers claim about cars. They just don’t recognize that their behavior is as bad.
My city recently did 15mph for neighborhood residential roads and 20mph for the wider through roads connecting to them. I feel much safer now when walking and biking in the neighborhood. The roads here were never intended for cars to be parked up and down both sides.
With a title like this, it's kind of disappointing that the answer is just "good infrastructure planning" and not something like "the land is cursed such that all who walk upon it shall rise again forever more."
Instead of drafting new laws, administering fines, and criminalizing people who are just trying to get their fucking groceries home, how about spend that money on a second trail.
