Why do people upvote this post, without reading comments that say its nothing new?

Aopen,

Why do you want to make people feel bad on purpose?

Aopen,

People on driving on highways drive on them either because they need to, rural public transit is non-existent, it is cheaper or long distance transit is shit. They have their reasons and seeing train flying by wont change them unless it makes a better alternative.

Aopen,

You are stuck on twitter mentality where everyone is radicalized and fights the other side.

You describe people as monsters. Go outside, touch grass, no one kills anyone on purpose. System is problem, not

Carbrains

Aopen,

Make options better. If two cities are linked by highway and objectively better rail line and majority of people still choose to travel on highway then there is a problem somewhere, but building second train line next to highway wont solve anything.

Otherewise if two cities are connected only with highway, then why how people travelling on it would make worse decision if it was their only option?

Aopen,

You dont want to solve any problem. You want to make people suffer

Aopen,

What problem are you solving by

build high speed rail next to freeways only because it would make drivers feel like complete losers all the time

?

People suffer from not optimal train route and see it as they drive on a highway

Aopen,

I want transportation system to be improved for people’s welldom and without trying to impose any views sacrifiing quality in the process

“See these losers on train? They built 20% longer route only because they wanted to make passagers see losers on highway”

Aopen,

You live in a bubble world where you feel comfortably smug and want to talk down to other people. You are stuck on a Reddit mentality and it disgusts me.

Its my perspective on you

Also, since you smugly (and deepy ignorantly) claimed no one kills anyone on purpose because you’re that high on your own farts in that bubble world of yours, here’s some people that kill on purpose, a lot more than no one. The source should be liberal enough for you to not whine about “bias” either. Maybe. www.splcenter.org/fighting-hate/hate-incidents

Its easy to find on internet people killing in US.

duckduckgo.com/?q=shooting&t=fpas&iar=new…

Ultimate measure of safety is percieved personal safety. I have to admit I didnt know situation in US is so bad with over half of people feeling unsafe

newsweek.com/young-americans-most-likely-feel-uns…

As I live in a country where 13% feel unsafe

britishpoles.uk/do-poles-feel-safe-in-their-count…

Realistically speaking ordinary people probably dont encounter agression on daily basis as they run errand, but violent acts happen more often so more people feel unsafe. Ordinary people dont kill for sure

Carbrains go out of their way to make pedestrians and cyclists feel bad on purpose, and society subsidizes their planet-burning nonsense and needlessly plans cities around humoring their personalized pollution machines. Fuck 'em.

I still disagree with your view of drivers on a highway

Aopen,

I oppose the inital idea of building high speed rail line next to a highway with only goal of making drivers feel bad on purpose as I dont see shitting on a minor group of radicals a meaningful way of helping whole society

Aopen,

This finding wont fix anything and will only make car-brained vs commie-bikers flame war worse

Samsung joins Google in RCS shaming Apple (www.theverge.com)

Samsung has released a new video in support of Google’s #GetTheMessage campaign which calls for Apple to adopt RCS or “Rich Communication Services,” the cross-platform protocol pitched as a successor to SMS that adopts many of the features found in modern messaging apps… like Apple’s own iMessage.

Aopen, (edited )

Google’s RCS is as proprietary as iMessage

Aopen,

No, its not available. There is no FOSS RCS app, because its not available

Aopen,
  1. Google controls RCS servers. Collects data and sales it. Apple adopting RCS would mean monopoly situation

Yes, a FOSS protocol/standard would be better

Open standard is the only option

RCS is at least allowed to be used by other companies so it’s at least a small step in the right direction

…of a single company controlling major sms functions turned on by default by every phone?

Aopen,

Google is spying on you

Aopen,

Point of this article is protection from russian energy blackmailing and not climate change

Aopen,

I aint native english and I cant understand a word from title. Is this normal?

Aopen,

Thanks! My previous interpretation: Snopes Shows™ - company related to film industry Folly™ - name of another company, surprisingly there is no comma or “and” between them X’s - unknown high number or Twitter New Link Presentation™ - Proprietary feature made by big tech company I have never heard about

So it looks like Clickbaity Capitalisation Of Every Word fooled me. IMO title should look like: “Snopes shows the folly of new link presentation on X”

Aopen,

TIL English capitalisation rules in titles. I tought they are same as in Polish. Quick search for Polish rules:

Question:

I would like to kindly ask you to clarify whether the name of the “Polish Biographical Dictionary” should be written in lowercase letters, like other multi-volume compact publications. Wikipedia editors stubbornly insist on spelling the dictionary in capital letters, guided by, among other things, prefer authors (PBD editors) who use capital letters of all title elements on the title page.

Answer:

In single-word and multi-word titles of books, scientific dissertations, films, laws or declarations, we write only the first word with a capital letter, e.g. Zarys grammar of Polish, [translator capitalized non-first words] The Little Princess, Orthographic Dictionary of the Polish Language, etc. (exceptions are: Old Testament, New Testament, Holy Scripture and Magna Charta Libertatum). It is also allowed to write entire words of the title in capital letters on the covers and title pages of books, in the titles of films, plays, advertisements or sporting events (e.g.: THE LITTLE PRINCESS). Please do not be influenced by what Wikipedia suggests. Regards Anna Sokół-Klein

Microsoft cuts ties with the Surface Duo after just 2 Android version updates (www.windowscentral.com)

Microsoft is done supporting the original Surface Duo, three years after it first launched on September 10. The company has stated from the very start that the Surface Duo would receive just three years of OS updates, meaning today is the last day that Microsoft has to stay true to its word....

Aopen,

I wish I could just install upstream Android on anything that can run it, instead of special binary images for each vendor’s make and model.

Why doesnt it work like that though? Combined with mandatory open bootloader it would free people

^pls,eu🥺^

AI could ultimately improve both the efficiency and the accuracy of diagnosis as healthcare in the U.S. gets more expensive and complicated as individuals live longer, and the overall population ages

When you read some bs on internet but thankfully its US only

Aopen,
  1. Listen on YT with adblock
  2. Download audio with Newpipe (OPUS 160kbps)
  3. Manage files with Amaze
  4. Listen with VLC

I like this model, because YT has niche creators and I dont have to care about “Spotify changes X” news. Note: I have 1.5GB songs stored locally and listen ~30 minutes daily. I acknowledge discovering new songs is slower

In June, Google announced a competition for researchers to come up with solutions to A.I.’s inability to forget

Free labor? Hope researches wont fall for this

Aopen,

Its better in all regards.

I wish it was true. My strategy is to use ddg in first try to find something and switch to google when ddg ducks in wrong way. Currently google is better in images and searching for “this particular site” instead of answer on any site

Aopen,

there’s been a shift to entertainment-based video feeds like TikTok — which is now being used as a primary search engine by a new generation of internet users.

I hate when journalists use data from Arse Research Institute to boost sensation

But if that last 25 years of Google’s history could be boiled down to a battle against the Google bomb, it is now starting to feel that the search engine is finally losing pace with the hijackers. Or as Marwick put it, “Google has gotten shittier and shittier.”

“To me, it just continues the transformation of the internet into this shitty mall,” Marwick said. “A dead mall that’s just filled with the shady sort of stores you don’t want to go to.”

Worth citing

Dash is one of the web’s earliest bloggers. In 2004, he won a competition Google held to google-bomb itself with the made-up term “nigritude ultramarine.”

In Poland we have OSM based jakdojade.pl

The Spotify Car Thing cost $100, but I can't use it anymore. (lemmy.ml)

EDIT: The only reason why I still had it at this point was because I could use it with other apps. However, now that my Spotify Subscription is cancelled, it doesn’t work with anything. It’s mildly infuriating because today, I can’t still use it with other apps like I was able to yesterday....

Aopen,

Im not audiophile so I scrape audio with newpipe. Downloaded and stream quality are indistinguishably satisfactory.

Aopen,

TIL “driverless” cars are driving in cities. Maybe its because I live in EU

Aopen,

In Poland railway is a national joke
