How much is that, like several doses or just one dose or what? Also I realize the question is vague, I just don’t have a good frame of reference for mdma and looking for clarification

Trees grow inside an uncompleted nuclear plant in Washington State, USA. The property is now used as an office park, and the old buildings have served as sets for several films....
Perhaps most importantly, it establishes that the mods/admins/etc of the community are not complicit in dissemination of the material. If anyone (isp, cloud provider, law enforcement, etc) tries to shut them down for it, they can point to their active and prudent engagement of proper authorities.
It’s like the Halloween 3 of the Pirates franchise: pretty good but quite a departure for the series. Notably, neither Captain Sparrow nor Captain Stagnetti make an appearance at all - amongst many other differences.
Burning stuff is a classic protest move though, and that shouldn’t be restricted either - within safety limits of course; i.e. Don’t leave your burning flag, book, bra, whatever where it might destroy unrelated stuff.
Not necessarily, if I were to burn a Bible and no one cares but they still continue revoking abortion access (and further bigotry) then I will probably keep burning bibles ib protest of the christofascists.
Lots of people burned them when they were released because they are morons. Now I bet they defend her because she expresses hate towards the same people they hate.
Personally I like algorithms if they are up front and honest about it, and I can understand the inputs and ranking used, at least at a high level.
The closest I can think of (though theirs is far from perfect and I certainly won’t come to their defense) is Spotify’s. Like- yes, I want more of this sort of thing, but group this sort of thing with its similar stuff, so when I want something completely different, I can click a different playlist or “radio” mix.
Given the open nature of lemmy, etc, I’d expect this to eventually exist if only because us nerds like making stuff. And the “no algorithm” version will still be there.
Heh, as a general term, yes- it’s sort of in my job description as a programmer ;)
But I definitely recognize how they can be used for evil contributing to the downfall of our society and life on earth, and therefore the general reasons people don’t like them.
So I’ve switched to lemmy since the reddit meltdown started, experienced quite some withdrawal symptoms, occasionally turned back to reddit, more often logged out than logged in. Now I am merely using Lemmy occasionally and by far not as often as I used reddit before. No more doom scrolling....
Exactly. Joey stopped working for Reddit, so I started trying out lemmy clients. Sync and Eternity (previously Infinity) are close enough, I’m trying to decide which one to stick with. But one thing is for sure: Friendship ended with reddit, now lemmy is my best friend
No need to waste money on a phone case if you smash your phone or throw it in a river every time you make a call. You don’t want the feds to catch up with you, right?
I do think they will essentially die. They will morph into completely different websites, but I think they will be around for a long time, and I think their userbase won’t shrink even a bit....
Hi5 was bought by Tagged which was bought by The Meet Group (MeetMe).
I worked at Tagged when the acquisition happened, but was not in the team that made the technical changes necessary to migrate the product.
Tagged and Hi5 are now essentially the same site with barely-different skins - the current site is an evolution of Tagged. I believe the Hi5 codebase was scrapped, for the most part.
A few years later, The Meet Group bought Tagged (which had rebranded its company - not the products - as “if(we)” by that point).
This is tangential, but I feel compelled to share: I started my job at Tagged due to another acquisition, when Tagged bought Digsby (company: dotSyntax), a multi protocol instant messenger, social network, and email desktop app which me and some friends built from nothing. We were the first 3rd party client for Facebook messenger, and I believe MySpace IM as well :)
I doubt anyone cares about these properties anymore, but if anyone has questions I’m happy to answer what I can.
The Covid era’s surge in air rage incidents is aiding flight attendants’ demand for a benefit they’ve been seeking since 9/11 — legally mandated self-defense training....
I’m a tall guy (6’4) and when the person in front of me reclines it brings the top of their sear closer, but the lower part moves forward creating more space for my stupid long legs. I can actually move my knees around and reposition instead of having to be angled towards one side the whole time.
But, I never recline myself. I try to be very polite and courteous to strangers when interacting, but overall I’d rather not have to interact at all. So I’ve never asked the person behind me. Without that information, I can’t be sure what they’d prefer. Then, since so much in our society is treated as “zero sum”, if I don’t take my option to recline, my “suffering” must mean their pleasure, right?
That’s what goes through my head anyway. Writing it all out, it sounds like nonsense.
You’re probably right, and paired with my experience being “reclined on” it likely is best for everyone if we all recline. I’ll try it on my next flight and see how it goes. Maybe I’ll even ask the stranger behind me…
Fair enough! I’m sure our experiences vary. I don’t really fly that often (maybe a couple trips a year, at most). Also you say “very tall” which I’d assume is taller than me, from context.
Plus I think it also depends on airline - some of them tout their coach legroom. So I’m sure that’s different too.
I know it’s a joke (or a point made in a humorous way) but it raised a serious question in my mind-
Are lemmy instances indexed by Google? Does it find/know about them through crawling or does it only do the bigger instances? Basically, could someone be led to a lemmy post from a google alert?
I’ve listened to some music that is only a few steps away from white noise- atmospheric black metal, dark ambient, etc. Stuff that many people would scoff at and not even call it music. But it was intentionally created, and put out there for people to listen to. Regardless of the quality or enjoyability of the music, it’s unreasonable to draw a line as to what is or is not “sound meant for other people to listen to”.
Just because someone has found a way to make “music” with less effort and doesn’t make it “not music”, regardless of what it sounds like. Hell, one of the most famous pieces of experimental/avant garde music “4’33” is literally silence from the performers and the “music” is the sounds of the environment you are experiencing it in.
If I want to listen to any of these things on Spotify, well, they better pay whoever the rights-holder is that licensed it to Spotify to stream at the agreed upon rate. Spotify, other artists, and (most importantly) their labels can whine all they want. These are the contracts they’ve agreed to and as a subscriber I’ll exercise my contractually-agreed-upon ability to listen to whatever is on the platform for as long as I want. Maybe I’m awake, maybe I’m not, maybe I’m subliminally absorbing the music while sleeping. That’s no one’s business but my own.
I’m sure this comes as no surprise, but they need to fix their algorithm. Don’t advertise me Morgan Wallen when I’ve been listening to speed and thrash metal for the past six months and the last country song I listened to was Hank III over a year ago.
Honestly I think it’s like Facebook, the advertiser can pick and choose what demographics see it- and some of them don’t care, and just hit “select all”. Waste of their money and annoys people who have no interest in the artist/genre being advertised because it should be targeted.

Traditional floridaman posts as a result of the sunshine law were offbeat, wierd, and humorous.
It’s the modern “Governor Floridaman” news that are truly worrying to the sane parts of the country, and that’s got nothing to do with the sunshine laws (except insofar as he is trying to circumvent and subvert them to consolidate his power further)
I’m a conservative. I don’t mind the liberal stuff here. It’s good to learn the other side, but I don’t want a liberal echo chamber. I’d like to be more politically balanced in the fediverse. Is there any way I can do that?
If you got an ID sent to you when you turned $AGE I’d support requiring it to vote. But any proposal of free/automatic IDs gets shouted down by fanatics who think it’s the mark of the beast from Revelations. It’s a non-starter.
A lack of cultural nostalgia attached to the toy and wariness of the film's feminist messaging may have kept the Korean audience away from the Hollywood mega-hit: "There is no real fan base for 'Barbie' in Korea.”
You’re not advocating against CI like the meme seems to be, but rather for CI builds to be runnable on human’s machines and the results should be same/similar as in when running w/in the CI system. Which is what CI folks want anyway.
I like using other sites like imdb, trakt.tv for my watchlist, and then hooking up sonarr/radarr to monitor them. I’m not sure if it’s feasible for your friends/family to do private lists and provide auth for you - sounds like a UX nightmare for them unless they are also technical - but, if they make their watchlist public on those sites, you can probably subscribe your tool to them easily.
