seathru,

Laugh now. But when the hoveround army comes for you…

seathru,

…littering the ground. Ankle deep in places.

seathru,

In the song, it’s a disease that causes people to get all stabby.

seathru,

Lol, you’re getting salty at the people ordering pickup because you’re being inconvenienced by the way the store handles it?

Yeah, blame the people, not the corporation. Good little consumer.

seathru,

The store shoppers are usually gathering orders for multiple people. If they weren’t there, 3 other “average size Americans” would be in your way.

You know who doesn’t get inconvenienced? Me as I sit in my car listening to the radio while someone loads my groceries for an extra 5 fucking dollars. My entire bi-monthly shopping trip takes 15-20 minutes vs. an hour or more inside the store (and also having to deal with the people inside). Money well spent.

seathru,

Death wish? I love kei trucks but I fear getting into a mash up in one of them.

seathru,

Exactly. Death wish is inversely proportional to vehicle size.

seathru,

2 wheels for me please.

But, thank you for taking the time on that well thought out, informative post.

seathru,

specifically designed to kill toddlers

“Lead designer to ensure child lethality” is such a badass job title.

seathru,

A string attaches to the sear and runs out the small hole above the barrel.

You’ll have to print/machine your own tho. And this probably falls under the NFA’s AOW category, so you’ll have to ask the ATF permission and pay for a $200 tax stamp.

seathru,

Clutch - Power Player has been stuck in my head since last night for reasons unbeknownst to me. Now it can be in yours.

seathru,

Sounds like it’s time to break out the bouncing word screensaver again.

seathru,

Growing up I was taught to never lie to your doctor, lawyer, or mechanic. But after getting some life experience; I will absolutely, positively never admit to smoking pot to a medical professional. Being honest about that has done nothing but worsen my quality of service.

seathru, (edited )

Is blocking instances going to make it into .19?

Edit: Heck yeah! I’ll toss a donation for that.

seathru,

Nay. Only good for fertilizer.

seathru,

“Well I have a microphone the money, and you don’t, SO YOU WILL LISTEN TO EVERY DAMN WORD I HAVE TO SAY!”

seathru,

Yeah, but that’s because they manage to post in every. single. thread. It’s impressive.

seathru,

At a point the garbage to quality ratio gets too high to do that. Yeah, I’m sure some decent folks get blocked when you block a whole instance, but there’s plenty of other people in non shithole instances to more than make up for it. I just use whichever method is most efficient at cleaning up my feed at the time.

seathru,

Not so hot take: My time is finite, why force myself to see shitty facebook memes, dog pictures, crusty “battlestations”, etc.?

seathru,

I just uncheck “Show bot accounts” Gets rid of most.

what budget 3d printer would you suggest for a beginner?

so im a teen with not alot of money but i want to get into 3d printing, another community suggested the ender 3 original. it looks like a solid printer but who know im a noob after all. my budget is around 100$ or less. im looking into making mini figures and painting them or whatever nerdy thing i find. i know the budget is...

seathru,

Absolutely one of the Ender 3s. Easy to find around $100, especially if you live near a Microcenter. They are such popular printers that any problem you may have has already been asked and solved.

If you’re mainly interested in figurines, then a resin printer will give you better quality. But it comes with smelly chemicals and more work/cleanup.

seathru,

A vacuum sealer is your friend. I buy giant bags of everything now and split it up into single serving portions that last a long time.

seathru,

This dude in Maine had tried to get a silencer. Wonder how much worse it would have been if everyone didn’t hear the reports and start running.

Hard to say. It’s not like the movies. With the firearm he had (.308 with ~14-16" barrel), a silencer/suppressor only brings the volume down from “instant tinnitus” to “still loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage”. It’s far from silent. I’d never thought about it until now but I wonder if a silencer/suppressor could have increased surviveability. When people heard gunshots at volumes they would expect, they might be less disoriented. Verses the muzzle flash and concussion that comes from what he was shooting (basically a semi-auto flash bang).

seathru,

They aren’t. Suppressors require a $200 tax stamp and background check to purchase in the US. The only illegal part is possessing one without paying that tax.

seathru,

For 60k miles or just past the powertrain warranty. Then he says “later suckers! Find yourself a new tranny.”

seathru,

sunjournal.com/…/multiple-victims-reported-follow…

Lewiston public information officer Derrick St. Laurent told the Sun Journal at about 8:15 p.m. that another shooting had been reported at the Walmart Distribution Center on Alfred A Plourde Parkway.

Are there any applications that can turn an old smart phone into a wildlife/security camera?

Have been thinking about this for a couple years. I have old phones kicking around. Battery shot, hardware dated, but the camera(s) and mic and antennas still work. Would be cool if there were a way to set them up (powered) to stream audio/video or even take stills at intervals (or motion-activated) and then sync the content to...

seathru,

I doubt these cameras can sustain that kind of uninterrupted use,

I had an old HTC phone that I used as a garage security camera for 2-3 years straight. It had to be restarted every couple months, but otherwise worked fine. Now you can get a $20 IP camera that surpasses it in every way tho.

seathru,

I mostly use privacy.com for trials that I don’t want to have to worry about cancelling later. It’s also handy that privacy.com cards will allow you to put whatever you want as your billing address (for example, purchasing digital goods and setting your location to one that doesn’t have sales tax).

seathru,

Using it for trials? No. Using it to skirt taxes? Doubtful, but possible. If you stiff the state $6 on an x-box game, noones going to notice. Short them a couple thousand and they might.

seathru,

Is the silver tape a heater or a glass(?) breakage sensor?

seathru,

I knew someone from the War Thunder forums would come along.

Neat, it does look like some kind of sensor to confirm the canopy is no longer there. Very similar to commercial alarm glass break sensors from the 80s-90s.

seathru,

It was just a joke about how that forum’s users are constantly posting sensitive military information. Thanks for the video, it did answer my question.

seathru,

I leash/harness train mine. It’s nice to be able to mostly walk them around outside like dogs. Also I train them to ride on my shoulders for transportation. That way when they get too lazy to walk back to the house or I need to carry them around for any other reason I can just plop them on my shoulders and they will ride there, keeping my hands free. My neighbors probably think I’m crazy.

u/VegaLyrae’s suggestions are all excellent.

seathru,

Refraction is a harsh mistress.

seathru,

To a point. After that you’re just making more smoke, and washing out the cylinders, drastically reducing the engine’s life. I take some consolation in the fact that most of the bros rolling coal will absolutely not be able to afford a replacement engine once they trash theirs.

seathru,

Some people take the portrait vs. landscape argument way to seriously.

seathru,

I think they mean like a gallon of gasoline burned in a car does less environmental damage than the same gallon of gasoline just released into the environment.

Not saying it is or isn’t, just how I took it.

seathru,

I think “Who is still using them?” is a better question.

Cult of self-proclaimed 'Queen of Canada' threatens Sask. village with public executions (www.cbc.ca)

An extremist cult leader and her followers have set up camp in a small Saskatchewan village, 83 kilometres northwest of Maple Creek, near the Alberta border. The group has called for public execution of elected officials and other members in and around the community....

seathru,

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_McElroy

Just leaving this story here my Canadian friends.

seathru,

I don’t think most people mind curated reposts at all. No one wants to see every reddit post copied over en masse. Well, I guess a some do, but they suck, as is covered in the post title.

seathru,

Or, how about we let people put whatever they want into their own body?

seathru,

So if some can’t enjoy something responsibly, no one can?

seathru,

Combine that with the fact that you aren’t just putting it in your body but the body of anyone within breathing distance of you,

That’s part of responsible use. I’m ok with only letting smokers smoke in specialty ventilated & filtered areas. Easy for me to say, I don’t smoke. But if any adult wants to make an informed decision to, that should be their choice.

Put it another way, if cigarettes are legal then marijuana, LSD, MDMA, and a whole host of other drugs should be legal too.

I emphatically agree.

seathru,

If you have to use any kind of deadly force in self defense, it is always in your best interest to be the first one on the phone with 911. Police aren’t known for their critical thinking, so the first story they get is most often they one they are going with until proven otherwise.

If one of the teens had called 911 and said some creepy guy catfished and physically assaulted them first, this story would probably read a lot differently.

Disclaimer: Not victim blaming. More of a PSA. And really one of the very very few times I would recommend calling the police.

seathru,

“Kicking them out of their camps is surely the motivation they need to become productive members of society.”

seathru,

Love that the nose cone looks like it’s held on with black tape.

Can anyone translate the love letter written on it?
