palitu,

Toad in the hole. Australia

palitu,

Its late… what why 63?

Goes to 3 servos. Pays 11, gets 30 back

palitu,

That is a really cool idea. We often think of renewable energy as electricity. But this bypasses that.

I hope it catches on, and is affordable.

palitu,

I wonder how they would differ? Maybe more like a camera? Though that is pretty similar to ours.

palitu,

I concur. All those movies concentrated on the wrong thing!

palitu,

I know that sound from the 90’s

palitu,

Eye vents just sound weird…

palitu,

Up vote for saying bouy correctly!

Does alien.top do anything other than mirror reddit comments?

I have just realised that alien.top seems to be mirroring reddit accounts, posts and comments, without labelling them as such. What is the point of this one way mirroring? As soon as users realise, they are going to just leave. There is no point having a discussion with a bot that cannot respond.

palitu,

I think that right to be forgotten is untenable in anything you publicly put into the internet. I know a bit off topic…

Once someone has open access to it (like reddit/lemmy). You are implicitly implying that you want anonymous access of that information to the wider world.

Do you think it is even possible? (BTW, im not being a dick, just interested)

palitu,

Yeah fair enough.

palitu,

Account <1d. Downvotes ahoy!

palitu,

cool, that app looks great, and really cheap! like $7 for life!

what size pad are you using? i am looking at a 10.1", and there seems to be 2 sizes of iPads.

TIA!

palitu,

yeah sweet, 10" looks like a standard size

cheers!

palitu,

clever!

did anyone else read them all aloud?

palitu,

So… you did?

palitu,

It looks like it still launched, so no problem with the vehicle

palitu,

thanks. i will look at readarr and ubooquity as the server side.

I have seen some books i acquired as over 100mb, typically with kids books. not sure why, but there you have it.

I think i will skip the tablet, due to battery life, i love the weeks of use of my current kobo Glo.

thanks

palitu,

that would be good to know!

palitu,

i have an older Kobo Glo, which does not have the library integration, but i am wanting to do exactly the same as you. get a few to take with us, and use the library borrowing to get books to read.

palitu,

yeah, i have kobo glo currently, need to get some more for an upcoming long trip. thanks for the vote for Kiobo!

Introducing Bitmagnet: A self-hosted BitTorrent indexer, DHT crawler, content classifier and torrent search engine with web UI, GraphQL API and Servarr stack integration (bitmagnet.io)

I’m excited to announce the first alpha preview of this project that I’ve been working on for the past 4 months. I’m initially posting about this in a few small communities, and hoping to get some input from early adopters and beta testers....

palitu,

I laughed more than I am proud. The wife says that it is disgusting. I agree

palitu,

Interesting tid bit.

Ta!

palitu,

Cool work! Love the idea of hooking into the fediverse toolset

palitu,

Is the blurring so that air defence locations can’t be determined?

palitu,

yeah, quote a problematic video. surprised that he deleted everything, when is says it will break his system!

palitu,

I didn’t watch the full vid to see what he did to get there.

I was not happy with pop os when I gave it a 10 min trial. I am not surprised that it had some issues to getting steam to work.

palitu,

I don’t understand the title?

palitu,

Yeah, thought I may be behind in my memeage

palitu,

All good. What did you mean by it ‘at work’?

palitu,

Very nice. Cheers. I thought you meant work as a verb, not a noun.

palitu,

Pugs of the military world?

Forty years of GNU and the free software movement (www.fsf.org)

On September 27, the Free Software Foundation (FSF) celebrates the 40th anniversary of the GNU operating system and the launch of the free software movement. Free software advocates, tinkerers, and hackers all over the world will celebrate this event, which was a turning point in the history of computing. Forty years later, GNU...

palitu, (edited )

Started reading the FAQ on why we should call it GNU/Linux.

Ship had said my friends. I think Linux just won through being easier to say. (Yes I know how to say it…)

Edit: Ship has sailed…

palitu,

there are a number of blog posts that have different details about the how/why, etc. i just followed the links in the article to other parts of the series.

I expect that the use case is more prevalent than you think, where you are spending a decent chunk on cloud infra. I have been convinced for some time now that the costs are high compared to our on-prem. I really like the idea of a the “deft” type hardware management service, so that look after the DCs, hardware and connectivity, and we look after the software.

palitu,

never heard of him before. what about him?

palitu,

There Is a tool that someone built directly to scan images uploaded to lemmy for CSAM.

It is really quite clever. The image is put through a ML/AI model, which describes it (Imange to text), then the text is reviewed against a set of rules to see if it has the hallmarks of CSAM. If it does, it is deleted.

This is fully self hosted.

What I like is that it avoids the trauma of a person having to see those sort of things

palitu,

you mean the ML model?

I dont think it is too bad, as it is more like look for a description that has children and a sexual context. This can be trained without CSAM as the model generalises situations it has seen before - a pornographic picture (sexual context) and kids playing at a platground (children in the scene).

palitu,

That must have been a long time ago. They have had it for ages!

palitu,

hmmm… i may need to buy bitwarden… i currently self-host, but that sounds very tempting!

palitu,

Would be cool to do this for any particular area.

Draw a bounding box and see how you go

palitu,

Lightning that travels from the ground to the sky is just freaky.

palitu,

I am on a small instance, so if i am not subbed, they will never make it to “ALL”.

I am still interested in the others that i am subbed to, but i want the very small ones to float to the top easier.

I guess by NEW will help, but they will get flooded out by the larger comms that have more posts. catch-22

palitu,

Yeah, cheers. More or less what I do. I am chasing some algorithm though,.

palitu,

And a lot of people are happy/used to be smashed with Ads…

palitu,

this may sound like science fiction

I laughed…
