I have been experimenting with react native as I heard it’s one of the good ones, and so far it is not a particularly enjoyable experience. Lots of irritating things like no global styling, lots of ugly, hard to read properties on tags, etc...
This question was inspired by my hatred of Temporal Anti-Aliasing which, in many games nowadays, is poorly used as a performance bandaid. On lower resolutions it will smudge and blur the image and certain bad cases of TAA will cause visible ghosting....
Ive got myself a DTU-1031X which is a graphical drawing tablet, it uses usb-B for input output, display. In my case I’m able to draw but beyond that there isn’t an output to the tablet, I have install displaylink, and wacoms drivers. Any advice?
I used Ubuntu once a few years ago but had compatability issues so I went back to windows. Not a great programmer but I’d like to learn. I’m not looking to do much gaming beyond DOOM2 and factorio. Mostly looking for privacy and a way to get back into programming (I have this pipe dream of learning Assembly). I’m not to...
I mostly use AMD and have been using Wayland since GNOME 40 without any problems, loving the consistently perfect frames and fantastic scaling (with Wayland programs, but nowadays I use nearly no X11-only programs)....
For me jetbrains ides are just not okay. They lag my PC so much that I can’t even play Minecraft 1.8.9 at the same time. The plugin list is so tiny - Rust, Color highlight thingy, and builtins!
Also personally I don’t like these IDEs just because they aren’t open source - I can’t modify it if I want to, which in this case doesn’t fit the spirit of Rust - making it opensource; the plugin API is so obscure to the point I considered switching to nvim (that was a year ago, not much has changed)
Kitty with catppuccin and 50%-ish transparency. Works like a charm. And also if you add something like what kitti3 does (look it up on github), will be even better.
Yeah, did get these sorts of issues with the same setup (me when im a nixos user). Tested both kitty and hyprland transparency, they were both kinda borked. After some time, tearing commenced and i turned off all transparency.
Hi, Im searching for a secure distro for normal daily use for my laptop. Currently Im running arch linux with full disk encryption, secure boot, linux hardened, firewalld and most apps as flatpaks (with some disabled permissions using flatseal). I think its pretty secure laptop but it could be more secure....
EDIT: The only reason why I still had it at this point was because I could use it with other apps. However, now that my Spotify Subscription is cancelled, it doesn’t work with anything. It’s mildly infuriating because today, I can’t still use it with other apps like I was able to yesterday....
For a long time, I’ve just put on DejaVu fonts and been done with it. Generally good enough Unicode coverage for me. But I know it’s been years since DejaVu’s been updated, and I wonder what’s very common today....
I have a weird selection- Jetbrains Mono with Monocraft and the bold Minecraft font. Jetbrains Mono is for everything except discord. Monocraft with Minecraft Bold is for Discord which i have IRCified with a custom Vencord theme.
Anyone else have it ? The more work I do setting things up like dockers, reverse proxies, single sign on, etc. the more I want to do it. But I’m running out of ideas of things to host that would actually benefit me. But I have that itch where I want more lol....
I’m currently running Arch and it’s great, but I’m noticing I’m not staying on the ball in regards to updates. I’ve been reading a bit about Nix and NixOS and thinking of trying it as my daily driver. I’ve got a Lenovo x1 xtreme laptop, I don’t do much gaming (except OSRS), use firefox, jetbrains stuff, bitwarden,...
For me it shines in the replicability. For example recently (at the time of writing this) I have gone to a different place without the ability to take my pc with me (its not a laptop duh). I prepared my config and pushed it to the git repo. With me I only brought a usb drive with all my ssh keys and another one with the headless NixOS installation environment. I set it up, had to do some UEFI smashing and hardware adjusting but that’s just hardware specific. In like 30 minutes I had my full setup, my hyprland, my doom emacs, and most of that time it was downloading packages.(not to say cache.nixos.org is slow but the internet there was dogsh…)
Would I recommend? If you are ready to do some table smashing and if you are experienced enough with Linux and the nitty gritty of it, then HECK YEAH. You have to know that NixOS is not for beginners. It is a bulletproof distro for ultra power users that, if you use correctly could lead to a impenetrably stable system, which you could reproduce on ANY other machine. And also rollbacks are awesome.

I personally hate rounded corners and shadows added everywhere. Makes most things look crappy and smudged.
