mryessir,

Was ne geile community. Appreciated

mryessir,

Deine Redewendung ließt sich wie Unrecht an der deutschen Sprache.

mryessir,

I use OpenBoard and never had any issue.

mryessir,

stopslurking

I feel caught…

mryessir,

Meta+F4, please. vimmer btw.

mryessir,

Top, 24 px. So everything of overview/context is at the top. Aids my posture as well.

Making a window big respects the panel. Maximizing it overlaps the panel but everything is still accessible via window switching. Neatly, while switching, the panel outlines other windows and the tab on the panel.

I never use Fullscreen.

DE: XFCE4

mryessir,

Naturally I cover up with more trivia and try switching switch to a more fundamental topic.

mryessir,

Came here to say this. They earned their success. Hopefully their current values remain.

mryessir,

THUMBS OF ORCAS!

mryessir,

Oh man. Appreciate it. Couldn’t fix my missspell. :(

mryessir,

Actually the modulo operator is the wrong solution.

mryessir,

Please elaborate. When and why would his suggestion be worse?

mryessir,

You call it premature optimization. I call it obvious.

You use a flat head as a Phillip’s.

mryessir,

What statement do you flag as assumption? Yes, I do. The modulo operator is only a subset of bit masks. It is more explicit to write:

if ( (variable &EVEN_MASK) == 0) …

To act upon even numbers then:

if ( (variable %2) == 0) …

How would you name the 2 in the above statement for more expressive power?

EVEN_MODULO_OP ? That may throw more people off imo.

mryessir,

Each clause already returns

mryessir,

You are right. I have been biased.

mryessir,

trällertWieso? Weshalb? Warum?

mryessir,

mryessir,

STOP BELIEVING EVERYTHING ON THE INTERNET. THIS FLUID MAY BE TOXIC AND YOU ARE IMPLYING THAT IT IS 100% HARMLESS.

mryessir,

What kind of workstation? Is your software fully compatible with arm and the gpu stack?

I would verify that the new Nvidia gpus work well with the arm-kernel; Though I cant possibly imagine why it would differ to x86_64. I don’t know though.

Personally I would not consider any Nvidia card for linux. Simply due to the fact that nvidia may hide capabilities after the purchase. If you need e.g. virtualization in the future the flag may already hidden or change afterwards by nvidia (happend before). They will force a non-consumer card at you for this.

I am a happy linux-arm user.

mryessir,

Truck driver have timelines. It is totally okay, if they need to occupy the middle lane. Sometimes even the left lane. It is more rare then middle lane sitters.

But what is not okay is that the cultural habit of “don’t clog” has forgotten. People are ignorant shits these days when entering cars.

If you decide to travel via 100 kph and do not want to flow with the traffic, then just stick to the right lane and flow with the trucks?! This way you have the most fuel savings as well.

mryessir,

Truck drivers are running a commercial operation, I shouldn’t have to be inconvenienced so they can more easily make money - especially not when that inconvenience is caused by them not following the rules of the road.

It is about the person sitting inside the ferry. Once you work together with drivers you will change your attitude torwards them immediately. They working conditions are very difficult. Especially when they are crossing jurisdications/states.

When I am driving I have no problems eith truck drivers. They even help going onto the highway or mention radars.

The people sitting in the middle are the problem. Most of them doesn’t even accelerate passing another middle-lane-sitter.

Im driving for two decades. I did multiple years of disposition. I’m telling you: Middle sitters are the problem and responsible for most crashes on the autobahn.

mryessir,
  • running on a certified windows laptop.

Also, prob. some graphic issue or no compositor installed.

For me Firefox on linux without a compositor ist the best. Doesn’t feel so sluggish.

mryessir,

Are you One of the holy masters mentioned on the credits page yet?

lowershisleftknee

That feeling when you're googling the answer to some technical question, and your own Lemmy post appears 4 results down. (lemmy.one)

Hopefully this kind of content is ok here. Up until recently, when I would be searching for some kind of technical info, the top (and best) results would usually all be Reddit posts. I was very pleasantly surprised to do that this time and find a Lemmy post instead!...

mryessir,

Google Page Rank. I heard of that myth once before.

mryessir,

People like the meme creator will turn the tides around. Perfectly crafted meme.

mryessir,

XFCE has two different launchers: alt + F2 for executing anything on your $PATH and alt + F3 for starting installed programs (I think these need an *.desktop entry). The latter is neat, because it learns what you open the most. Also, you can entirely hide the category tab by resizing it. This way you can use your arrow keys to change the selection more easily.

fliesaway

mryessir,

Very nice to hear!

The F2 version enables one to directly call scripts by e.g. issuing sh myscriptfrompath.sh. Or start a program within a terminal: st -e top. The F3 version wouldn’t accept these.

My usage is 95% of the time F3 - and I am a sw engineer. So very specific reasons.

I am really glad you liked it and prompted your question. I was playing for hours until I simply dragged away the categories 😅😃!! Now it is preserved :)

It is an opportunity to bind with your child. Make them face their fears playfully. Probably will strenghten its braverity.

Also, any matress needs air circulation beneath below it. Otherwise it will get warm, stinky and very dirty.

mryessir,

Nonnative tounge - I meant below grabsthetoolbox

mryessir,

Apparently you didnt read about the update process.

What you do in debian is simply beautiful:

You rock stable and once a newer package is required, you install from backports. When a the package goes to a next stable version, you can remove the backports. It will transition automagically.

Take this and put it in your pipe!

I'm done with NextCloud

Just had NextCloud denying my credentials (not for the first time). I know they weren’t wrong because I’m using a password manager. Logs didn’t say much. Was about to reinstall (again, not the first time nextcloud went bonkers on me) before I tried a docker compose down && docker compose up. Lo and behold after a restart...

mryessir,

Underrated comment.

To put it into user perspective:

Exception X with error code xxx means Y. Y should be shown via a modal dialog to the user. The state of the application has to be reverted to a valid state as error handling.

The exception/error gets logged, the user doesn’t receive a exception but the interpretation of the error is shown to him via the UI.

mryessir,

That is awesome work. Congratulations on releasing it.

mryessir,

Listen closely and you can hear the amazing chirp of a NEUNTÖTER here: sweet chirp.

mryessir,

Fixed it:

Hey, cat here. I just deserve it.

mryessir,

Using telegram for years. Its the best messenger.

Don’t have any troubles. I can use e2e-chats if needed.

I truely trust them. Besides, their Android client has the best Android source code I have ever seen. Very good resource.

mryessir,

I can block user without problems. Plus I can decide for each one my own privacy settings.

I don’t see it. There isn’t even any option to buy premium. And I just updated…

mryessir,

Thanks I see. Didn’t know other messengers allow that by default. You are right that I am unaffected.

Is the blockchain an interesting innovation, aside from cryptocurrencies ?

For a long time, I thought of the blockchain as almost synonymous with cryptocurrencies, so as I saw stuff like “Odyssey” and “lbry” appearing and being “based on the blockchain”, my first thought was that it was another crypto scam. Then, I just got reminded of it and started looking more into it, and it just seemed...

mryessir,

What?

I just wrote in Cell A5441 that you owe me 354000,- EUR.

Ownership has to be calculated by all participants, making a Blockchain unneccesary environmental load. You should revisit more reliable sources about the technology.

mryessir,

You would need to start with a literature research. scholar.google.com

mryessir,

mryessir,

I suppose the same amount of experts are on stackoverflow and they live in good times. There isn’t too much spam to hate about.

The mosts visits to SO does a novice programmer. Currently they live off of AI answers and from more experienced co-workers.

I think the school of SO will last and the community is not hostile; But some people tend to forget that the quality of a question is very important.

Other factors:

SO jobs was shut down.

There is no new technology which enables a new SO chapter. There aren’t too many new questions about AI.

What do you think?

mryessir,

Wenn eine Hauptverkehrsader nicht ausgebaut werden kann, ist eine Seilbahn optimal.

Eine Verbreiterung der Ader ist zudem teurer. Passagiere der Seilbahn entlasten zusätzlich den Autoverkehr.

Also: Günstiger, ökologischer und spart Platz.
