What's your opinion on Opera browser? (kbin.social)

I've been using Opera for a few years now and I've been enjoying its features, UI and everything. However, I (surprisingly to me) haven't noticed many people mentioning it. Also, when I was on Reddit and mentioned that I use it I got downvoted which left me somewhat confused haha....

mryessir,

Pin comment and close thread! :)

mryessir,

Users depend on websites trusting the client? In what fucking world are websites trusting the client??? Literally the only case is the media DRM that should have never been part of the web in the first place.

Sometimes I see people with multiple toolbars in their browsers. These could sniff/leak data.

If you provide a service for your user, you may want to restrict access to your peticular customer.

I do not like it either. But the explainer to me does not appear like DRM in the first place.

And I am wondering if the client could just encrypt some fake data. How should the web server know? They get one ID and the content binding, which does not appear to be anything new (fragment/data from URL). But I am not developing websites.

C and Lisp:

st -terminal

tmux -workspaces

vim -editor

vim-fugitive -git UI

make -did not require more power yet.

everything vanilla except some custom lines to have vim and tmux share the same pane/window navigation keys.

mryessir,

docker on the command line because there’s no docker desktop for Linux. There is for windows and MacOS tho, although Linux is literally the thing where it runs on the kernel and whose concepts the whole thing is based upon. Fuck them.

You could wrap the Docker/podman commands in a Makefile or create bash aliases/functions.

This is awesome. Though mlmym.org does not have any impressum, so I googled it. It should be the instance run by the creator but my mobile device I am currently using does not show me the entire certificate details.

I note this because one should be aware that this has implications regarding security.

Though the creator chose the correct licensing, works under his real name and the code looks good, too.

github.com/rystaf/mlmymI did not spot any data gathering things in my fly-through. He gives all the things needed to deploy an own instance to omit this concern.

Bravo!

Anyone else gradually stopped drinking alcohol?

I stopped drinking alcohol some years ago. Before that I hardly consumed any alcohol at all for many years, but in my college years and maybe some years after that, I drank socially like “everybody else”. But I gradually kind of got tired of dealing with the bad feelings (physical and emotional), so I drank less and less....

mryessir,

Any adult pushing you to drink alkohol is weird (when not yet drank any, I shall prepend).

The coolest thing to do is your own thing. So just pass with a smirk and tell them right out:

I don’t need a drink to think you are fun!

mryessir,

It formed XFCE though.

And with it you can simply create a borderless theme (just save a empty theme file) and move your windows via ALT+click, iff you make use of floating windows.

I use it now for eight years on multiple laptops and desktops. Otherwise all default settings are sane.

mryessir,

This sound ridiculous but vitra chairs are just so good.

I was invited to a meeting in a goverment facility where all chairs have been vitra. They look like normal chairs. Within the first coffee break I had to flip my chair over to check for the manufacturer and model (EA 118).

Since then I am seeking such a chair - in used condition. There is an entire niche of firms renovating used ones.

Didn’t find mine yet but I will. You really just have to experience such a chair.
