spaghetti ala bolognese is my lazy to cook recipe or chicken paprikás (or rather it’s less sour creamy version which is called pörkölt). if I make it from chicken, it’s done pretty quickly

or, chili con carne. it’s also in the super easy and quick category

kuneho,
@kuneho@lemmy.world avatar

it is, at max 35-45 mins.

obviously I don’t make it authentic so calling it actually bolognese is a bit further stretch I allowed myself than should have 😅

I use dry noodles from the store, prechopped meat, boxed/canned tomato sauce, dried spices… only thing that needs actual prep work is some onions.

Tho it’s a show and watched only the first season, but Star Trek: Lower Decks is kinda ruining the whole Star Trek world to me.

It’s an OK cartoon, not bad at all. but so not Star Trek to me, at least the first season wasn’t. I get it, it’s the “Go” of the series, the cool and hip genz implementation, you either like it or not, and honestly, I kinda like it, but not as Star Trek.

what is a skill you wish you had, and why?

Ok, I might as well go first: I wish I could draw. Not at the level where I could make photorealistic portraits, but I’ve always been envious of those who are able to scetch something together in a few minutes that perfectly captures what they want to convey. Sometimes words aren’t enough to express what I want to say, and...

would be nice if I had more graphical imagination, but I just can’t create detailed images in my head. I can either “see” the big picture but with no details, or can focus on some detail, but then loose the big picture.

this way I really can’t draw stuff purely from my brain, I need references. and again, I can’t really vary from those references.

there’s room for practicing, obviously, but I have less and less time (and need, tbh) to develop my drawing skills, so I kinda gave up on it.

isn’t that division sign I only saw Americans use written like this (÷) means it’s a fraction? so it’s 6÷2, since the divisor (or what is it called in english, the bottom half of the fraction) isn’t in parenthesis, so it would be foolish to put the whole 2(1+2) down there, there’s no reason for that.

so it’s (6/2)(1+2) which is 33 = 9.

the other way around would be 6÷(2(1+2)) if the whole expression is in the divisor and than that’s 1.

tho I’m not really proficient in math, I have eventually failed it in university, but if I remember my teachers correctly, this should be the way. but again, where I live, we never use the ÷ sign, only in elementary school where we divide on paper. instead we use the fraction form, and with that, these kind of seemingly ambiguous expressions doesn’t exist.

I Looked up doing factorials and n! = n(n – 1) is used interchangeably with n! = n*(n – 1)

yeah, the way I have been taught is that either you put the multiplication sign there or not, it’s the exact same, there’s absolutely no difference in n(n-1) and n*(n-1). in the end, you treat it like the * sign is there and it’s just matter of convenience you can leave it off.

Debian + KDE Plasma if you want a working, stable operating system.

but only if you don’t want to experiment, distro hop and god knows what arbitrary challenges to face and never be completely satisfied.

it’s just my opinion, but I think because it’s LTS and has a philosophy behind the OS that doesn’t ring well with hardcore modding.

I kinda feel that Debian is sort of the “boomer OS” in the community; it just works, the way it works, it’s the “easy route” (if it makes any sense). also, some people doesn’t like APT or initd, I don’t know what’s up with nVidia drivers on Debian, or the support for any other super proprietary stuff.

you also don’t always get the freshest of stuff with it.

I personally love Debian, but granted that I haven’t tried out the whole Linux repertoire and I really don’t need too exotic stuff in my life if it’s about my main computer.

but to me, for developing, working, browsing the web, fuck around with documents, consuming media, networking etc etc., is more than perfect.

checking in from an european country; for petrol, we say “benzin” and for diesel we either call it just “dízel(olaj)” or “gázolaj” (olaj -> oil, so they translate roughly to diesel-oil or gas-oil)

for the fuel that gas operated cars use we have the “autógáz” word, which means… well, car-gas

they are fine. except the 4th. that should have been never existed.

I know lots of people hate the sequels, but they add to the story, it’s another question they are… just action movies with a little bit of early 2000s cringe.

I understand that, but this reasoning as well don’t really help on it at all. ruining something nice because “fuck you all” is just… I don’t even know.

edit: I think Matrix could have been a great series, even with something main plot that the 4th one had. or a cartoon. I know lot of frenchise went downhill after taking this path, but it’s something that would have fit nicely with Matrix.

based only on the fact that it’s proprietary™®©?

kuneho,
@kuneho@lemmy.world avatar

well… it can be done IMO, but there’s no one-click solution.

I don’t know the inners of Lemmy too much, but at first, without any reading up, my approch would be first create a Telegram bot and invite it to every channel you want to migrate to Lemmy as a Community or post in a community. Not sure how would you like to lay out channels in Lemmy, but let say this time it will be community/channel and one message in channel will be a post in Lemmy, and threads of messages/first replies of that message would be lemmy comments.

but either way, according to any logic, this Telegram bot would export all messages in a structured way; json or straight to sql. With this, Telegram part done, but for all the info you need to setup your Lemmy.

on your lemmy, the people used your Telegram channels should make an account. Make note of their IDs, your Telegram bot should do the mappings. if it’s irrelevant, link everything to a dummy/bot user

now this is the part I’m not sure of if possible, but the rest should be just the matter of merging your export into Lemmy db, to create communities, posts, comments. Probably media uploads are neccessary too. and you should see your Lemmy populated. yonly thing is, there would be no scores for the imported data, but users should have posts and comments.

this is all theoritical, of course.

Has Windows startup repair or a troubleshooter ever fixed your issue even once?

Yeah, basically that. I’m back at work in Windows land on a Monday morning, and pondering what sadist at Microsoft included these features. It’s not hyperbole to say that the startup repair, and the troubleshooters in settings, have never fixed an issue I’ve encountered with Windows. Not even once. Is this typical?...

kuneho,
@kuneho@lemmy.world avatar

strangely Network Troubleshooter always helped me when I was out of ideas why the network just… stopped working

tho never said the problem, things just got fixed in the meantime while it analyzed n shit and then it reported no issues :P

kuneho,
@kuneho@lemmy.world avatar

yeah, but if the troubleshooter does that it’s somehow works, if I do each step manually what the troubleshooter does, it never works.

there’s some black magic involved…

like the way how unresponding apps suddenly come back to life if I open Task Manager…

kuneho,

if you have a Hi-Fi audio capable VHS recorder, you can back up your music in excellent quality on it.

if not, you still can use a PCM encoder for the recording like the ones Sony made back in the day (today I guess you can get away with some pc software and a cheap USB S-Video card/stick)

I also wanted to take home a 386 PC that was rotting in the closet, but I missed that, tho that machine was massive.

edit: this was recently

kuneho,
@kuneho@lemmy.world avatar

Thanks for the tip, but I know, what I was talking about 😅

I use IDE HDD with this machine. The mobo has several SATA ports, but my HDD is IDE, it’s not a mistake.

Tho, that setting is, indeed is IDE, so I might set it to AHCI for Serenity, but the drive is still hoiked into the IDE bus.

But if the problem is the fact, that I’m trying to use IDE and should try with a SATA drive, I’ll look into it as soon as I can.

And thanks for co-piloting ;)

kuneho,
@kuneho@lemmy.world avatar

At the weekend I’ll have some time to fiddle with it.

I think I’ll try to boot Serenity first from USB, check if it wants to boot at all. Maybe I’ll got an Arduino to use as serial monitor to check the log.

Then move on to flashing the grub image to the HDD, again, with a different IDE drive. if thst doesn’t work, I’ll find a SATA HDD and flash that.

I really wanna see this OS boot on real hardware. Then take a good lookaround and develop or port something for it :)

kuneho,
@kuneho@lemmy.world avatar

I mean, sure, but this is no more than semantics.

AOSP can stand on its own foot on a device, you don’t need any peoprietary stuff to get it up and running (except maybe vendor specific things, like drivers, if the given device needs those). Maybe it’s my fault, but I would call that Android. (maybe it’s like Chrome vs Chromium, VSCode vs Codium etc…)

It’s another story people got used to the package Google provides, but in my understanding, it’s completely optional. You aren’t bound to the services they provide on a clean Android.

but I may be wrong.

kuneho,
@kuneho@lemmy.world avatar

So to call Android = AOSP = open source is a mass simplification and definitely hand-waving away the reality of how each system operates and the whole point of open source project

I absolutely don’t aggree with this part, especially the second half, but I see where you coming from and your reasoning.

kuneho,
@kuneho@lemmy.world avatar

Separate terms to tell different things apart

yes

I’m not sure what’s there to disagree about.

I’m disaggreeing with it, since it is an opinion 🤷🏻‍♂️
