Just dumped to a “Android is Starting”, sometimes it boots up fine but there is no status bar/bottom pill/gestures. It does not boot on the other slot. How can I get a dev build? Thx!

jvrava9,

Newest update. It boots now (idk why) but there is no status bar/bottom pill/gestures.

The Internet is always going to do the opposite of what you wanted it to do, so no.

Its all staged, just so you know. You can search up debunking videos on youtube. SunnyV2 made a good one.

Nice to see that you know him too. I thought you were talking about the YouTube channel under the name Primitive Technology.

Matrix but thinking about XMPP as Matrix leaks a loy of metadata and is pretty slow and new.

I’d recommend you to install Timeshift. It automaticaly creates backups of your system. Just in case, you’ll need it if you break something. It has a GUI and is easy to configure.

Artix user here. I started on Mint too, its a great distro.

jvrava9,
@jvrava9@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Happened to me too. Now that I look at it, I was just a beginer and fucked something up. Had no problems on Artix so far tho.

jvrava9,
@jvrava9@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Yeah, Artix repo’s have the majority of popular packages requiring systemd converted to the init system that you use. Ex: syncthing-openrc.

jvrava9,
@jvrava9@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Haha, I previously broke my mint install multiple times due to nvidia drivers… Now I just have timeshift backup to an internal hdd two times a day, just in case. I use Artix btw.

Getting nvidia drivers to work

Why delete the pkst? Someone could’ve had the same problem as you and would’ve found the solution in this post. Now he needs to go through all the hoops you went through to find the answer…

I saw today the infamous pop-up of YouTube again that they will block the video player after 2 more videos if I keep using uBlock Origin. ** Google.

I have tried it. Works really well but I prefer LibreTube’s UI

Issue with Samsung Odyssey G3 and squashed windows after a period of inactivity (i.imgur.com)

I have two screens, one of them is Samsung Odyssey G3. This model has some sort of “deep sleep”, it takes more time to wake one up after a period of inactivity (i.e. AFK). As a result, all windows that are placed on this screen are squashed. See the attached screenshot....

Google is an ad company, what do you expect.

jvrava9,

I got Arch on one, works like a charm. You need to install one driver for the wifi though.

You can try Artix, its Arch but withous systemd. You can chose between dinit, runit, s6, and OpenRC (which I use).

I swear I used timeshift so much when using a NVIDIA card

Same here, too clickbaity-ish. The videis are not really worth watching anymore.

I started on Mint too! Great distro. I would suggest using timeshift for easy automated backups. You never know if you will need it to undo all the mistakes you made.

Your favorite web UI for your linux server?

Do you use any web ui’s for your Linux server? I’m comfortable managing my server using the command line, but I also want a graphical interface that shows an overview of what is running on the server, the way the resources are being used what containers are running and so on. Also file download uploads would be great to...

anyone willing to walk a noob through getting some services running?

I’ve tried to figure some of this stuff out but I really don’t know what I’m doing. Most documentation is written with a vocabulary I don’t understand. Tutorials assume a high-level understanding of coding, software, CLI and a bunch of other stuff....

Check out Wolfgang’s channel and Youtube and blogs are your best friend in this situation. DigitalOcean has some good walk through’s too.

jvrava9,
@jvrava9@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Im talking about the tutotials on DigitalOcean’s website. You litteraly just need to make a google search.

jvrava9,
@jvrava9@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I dont either, use any search engine lol.

jvrava9,
@jvrava9@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Looks like your search engine is not giving good results. Google, DDG, Bing, Startpage and Mojeek all give me the right site and not youtube ad channels.

Near USA? Nope. Use njal.la, the servers are in Sweden tho.

jvrava9,
@jvrava9@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I use OpenRC and find it pretty easy to use, compared to runit that I tried before.
