Are you on GrapheneOS by chance? Either disable Zygisk or try the build I linked here. They kinda rushed the 26 builds out the door without a lot of testing, which is a shame, considering there will be no more releases until v27

github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/issues/7489

However, be warned: my system was very unstable with Zygisk enabled even with this build. Everything would “work,” but apps would randomly crash, be unresponsive, or just display very strange behavior that all went away when Zygisk was disabled. I leave it disabled for now and will try again in v27.

For apps that have root detection, try web versions of those services when possible. Especially banking services.

Yep I’m on gOS, should’ve mentionned that. Do we know when v27 will be released? I’m still pretty new to all of this, coming from a jailbroken iPhone. Would you suggest building Magisk from here or trying the dev build in the meantime? Thanks a lot!

Look at the build I linked in my issue there. You will see an artifacts page where you can download a working build as a zip. You need to be logged in to GitHub to see the download link.

But like I said, Zygisk is still pretty broken even with that build. You’ll get “further,” but I wouldn’t recommend running it as a daily driver.

No one has any clue when 27 is coming. I just know 26.4 was the last 26.x build.

lemann,

I’m assuming you’re using Android 14.

Do you actually see your lockscreen or your launcher, or are you just dumped to a “Android is Starting” dialog after the boot animation goes? I’d try to get an adb logcat up to see what the device is doing/gotten stuck on, but you would have needed to authorize your device beforehand…

Are you using Magisk for root or riru? Seeing as you’re using a very recent version of Android, I’d say try a dev build of Magisk and see if that works any better. I would have also suggested using an older version of magisk that doesn’t exploit via zygote injection, but your version of android is too new. Have a poke around on the github Issues tab and see if anyone else has gotten stuck with the same issue as you.

Another thing would be to try changing your phone’s boot slot in fastboot (don’t flash, just change slot) - maybe something for the zygote injection is missing from the boot slot your device defaulted to?

Just dumped to a “Android is Starting”, sometimes it boots up fine but there is no status bar/bottom pill/gestures. It does not boot on the other slot. How can I get a dev build? Thx!

lemann,

You can get dev/debug builds from their official GitHub github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk#downloads

On the repo page, tap the “Magisk Debug” button that looks like this: https://camo.githubusercontent.com/44cb94bfdd68519c95813a3d7ff983cf3cd2d36161be2e58eb81ca563e5d5829/68747470733a2f2f696d672e736869656c64732e696f2f62616467652f4d616769736b2d44656275672d726564

If the image above doesn’t show, the button is half dark gray and half orange. Took me a while to notice it, so thought could try save some time lol.

Thanks!

alphapuggle,

Are you on an update before November and have multiple profiles enabled? If so this is a known issue. If not, ADB logcat (I’m assuming your computer is authorized)

Newest update. It boots now (idk why) but there is no status bar/bottom pill/gestures.
