Figured it our without reading the comment, nicely done! Fun little game and fully playable on my Android phone.

One pan to rule them all, eh? ;)

That’s the Bialetti Impact covered Saute Pan.

a.co/d/bfbwppG

It’s non-stick, but with a micro divot texture, so it’s safe for metal tools (still a bad idea, get a silicone set).

youtu.be/30CdnBWuOpc

Oven safe to 400° F. You can pretty much cook everything in it. If you need more versatility, they have an entire set for around $100, but this pan is NOT included in that set.

a.co/d/d9XOJRS

It’s deeper than a fry pan, and it has a support handle and a lid.

It basically does everything those infomercial pan sets say they do, except Bialetti is a known and respected brand.

My personal preference is Le Creuset enameled cast iron, that’s my go-to. Not everybody can afford it. IIRC Bialetti Impact does NOT work with induction stovetops because it’s aluminum. Electric and gas only.

If you have an induction range, look at the Bialetti Sapphire deep saute pan:

a.co/d/ejAv6DY

Same deal, deeper than a fry pan, and it has a support handle and a lid.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

It’s not a traditional non-stick coating. It’s created by firing micro pellets at the aluminum to make wee indentations all over the interior surface. There isn’t anything to peel off like Teflon.

Still, I wouldn’t use steel utensils. Scratches won’t do you any favors. Get a good silicone, bamboo or wooden set.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

The Bialetti doesn’t need seasoning and enameled cast iron doesn’t either. You get the benefits of cast iron without the hassle. It’s heavy though.

The one thing to be aware of is there are 2 kinds if enamel, black and white, and they do different things:

Well, Blue Beetle has beaten it’s production budget, not that that matters given marketing and Hollywood accounting.

Abuse. Don’t take it. Know your worth.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

I was an admin at a company that was borderline psychopathic. Yeah, tons of abuse at all levels. No progression unless you were a member of the executive teams family or married to one of them. Completely dysfunctional workplace.

Would be nice if they had included Song of the South with all the appropriate cultural sensitivity warnings.

People forget that was the source of the classic song Zip A Dee Doo Dah.

Not sure how they could reduce it, right now it’s 3 taps. Center icon at the bottom of the screen -> Accounts -> Account to switch to.

I guess maybe if they had the accounts listed at the top under a drop down or something? Would still be 2 taps, one on the menu, one for the account you want.

Microsoft to Drop Support for Third-Party Printer Drivers on Windows (petri.com)

“With the release of Windows 10 21H2, Windows offers inbox support for Mopria compliant printer devices over network and USB interfaces via the Microsoft IPP Class Driver. This removes the need for print device manufacturers to provide their own installers, drivers, utilities, and so on. Device experience customization is now...

“via Windows Update” - key piece of info missing from the headline “for some reason”.

Yeah, I don’t see a need for Windows update to do any 3rd party stuff.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

Because Microsoft manages Windows update, it’s not like a package manager in Linux.

I don’t want Microsoft telling me when I should update an Epson printer driver.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

Because Microsoft has no more business managing Epson applications than Epson does, I dunno, Kensington or Belkin.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

Only watched one and it was the Flash, so, um… yeah…

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

I actually laughed out loud at the Babies in Danger^tm scene. I’m not sure it was supposed to be THAT funny, but the CGI was so awful you couldn’t NOT laugh at it.

I think they blew the budget on making the two Ezra’s look decent.

But then Blue Beetle comes in with 1/2 the budget and blows the roof off the joint.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

There were parts of it that were well done. Having the two Barry’s, one older, one younger, was absolutely believable. Later adding Dark Flash also worked. Michael Keaton Batman was fantastic. As you say, Supergirl was excellent.

But the only way to enjoy it is to look past the really awful VFX shots. I give them total props for putting in George Reeves, Adam West, Christopher Reeve, Helen Slater, and freakin’ Nicholas Cage fighting a giant spider… but man… the shots were plastic. Some kid could have done a better job with action figures.

Even if you want to argue that the Time Bubble/Cross Universe stuff is supposed to look distorted, that still doesn’t excuse the Babies in Danger^TM sequence.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

Google should have bought it out, finished it, and made it Stadia exclusive… Ah well…

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

Back in the day, some phones shared an antenna for Bluetooth and Wifi, so you could do one or the other but not both.

Try turning off Bluetooth and see if Wifi miraculously works.

It’s too bad Justin Roilland got canned, because this is prime for another Rick and Morty court transcript video:

Consumer Nintendo Switch 2 rumored to have more RAM than the Xbox Series S (www.notebookcheck.net)

A new Nintendo Switch 2 rumor has surfaced claiming that the next-generation hybrid console could actually arrive with more memory than a powerful rival like the Microsoft Xbox Series S. The same source has also offered an update in regard to the Switch 2’s potential DLSS support and ray-tracing capabilities.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

Low bar. :) The Xbox One X has more RAM than the Xbox Series S.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

More shocking is the speed of the RAM involved.

Xbox Series S
8 GB running at 224 GB/s
2 GB at 56 GB/s

By comparison:

Xbox Series X
16 GB @ 560 GB/s

PS5
16 GB @ 448 GB/s

Xbox One X
12 GB @ 326.4 GB/s

Steam Deck
16 GB @ 88 GB/s

Switch
4 GB @ 25.6 GB/s

If it had 10 GB at the higher speed it would still be hamstrung, but not as badly as it is with 8 GB and 2 GB that’s essentially unusable except for maybe UI overlays.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

Or a variation:

“[Untranslatable] destructed leaving just an asteroid belt. Mars now uninhabitable. Terraforming of Earth seems to have been successful now that the saurian races are eliminated. Trying again.”

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

How long before they abandon this idea too?

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

As a console gamer, I don’t have to worry about it. Xbox Series X, PS5, Steam Deck are all AMD based. The Switch is Nvidia, but honestly, I can’t remember the last time I turned the Switch on.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

FTA:

“No matter what you choose or where you turn, you and everyone else sound like idiots, which adds to the realism of the experience.”

That’s not “realism” to me and was the #1 reason I refunded the game.

How to make an MP3 player work in 2023?

If I wanted an MP3 player again, in 2023, and wanted to rip cds to it and put digitally purchased albums on it, as actual owned files (not inside an proprietary ecosystem where I pay to only listen to that track within that service) could I still do that? What would I need? I don’t own, and can’t afford, a “real...

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

Your iPad is an MP3 player, but as far as ripping a CD, first you need a USB CD drive, which is easy enough to get.

BUT… iOS doesn’t recognize optical drives, so once you have the USB drive, you need some other device to connect it to in order to rip the CDs.

Could be something like a Steam Deck or an inexpensive laptop or Chrome Book.

Once you rip the files to the device, you need to probably upload them to cloud storage accessible by both that device and the iPad.

Once the files are transferred to the iPad, you should be good to go!

Political books are the ones everyone SHOULD read. :)

This one is fascinating, we would be better off if more people read it:

Huh, 2016… Never saw it.

Oh… opened against Batman V. Superman.

1 - Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice $81,558,505

2 1 Zootopia $9,543,178

3 - My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 $7,324,780

4 2 Allegiant $3,647,099

5 3 Miracles from Heaven $3,327,863

6 4 10 Cloverfield Lane $2,070,393

7 5 Deadpool $1,710,989

8 6 London Has Fallen

9 12 Hello, My Name Is Doris

10 8 Risen $312,493

Lost me at “Disco Elysium had arrived and absolutely blown the doors off the RPG genre.”

I’ve never played a more restrictive game with worse dialog choices.

a) Can’t tell if brain damaged.
b) Can’t tell if drunk.
c) Can’t tell if high.
d) Can’t tell if stupid.

No good choices. Thank god Steam let me refund it.

Looked pretty though!

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

Jod, but it’s pronounced “Yode”.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

How many $50 reviewers did they have to buy though?

Looking at Ophelia… huh, it’s not on Rotten Tomatoes anymore…

Well, looking at ANOTHER crappy Daisy Ridley movie, Chaos Walking:

www.rottentomatoes.com/m/chaos_walking

21% rating on 154 reviews.

So 32 positive reviews and 122 negative reviews.

To hit 60% they would need to add 151 positive reviews. 183/305 total reviews.

At $50 a pop, those 151 positive reviews would run $7,550. Chump change.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

It’s a boat anchor, it’s time for Microsoft to cut it loose and release a digital only Series X.

11/2020 to 11/2023, not a bad run, figure it’s 1/2 way through this generation. Time for it to go.

Define “privacy” and define “modern car”.

In the end, it doesn’t matter what car you’re driving if you bring your Android/iPhone…

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

And, again, what is your definition of “privacy” and what is your definition of “modern car”?

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

First, you need to differentiate between “dealer” and “manufacturer”, except in minority cases like Tesla, they are two separate entities.

Dealers, as a rule, don’t have the capacity to accept telemetry data from vehicles. Source: I’m a former dealer sysadmin.

What they can and do do, is download telemetry data stored onboard when you bring the vehicle in for service. This is done through the OBD-II port which has been in every car since 1996.

www.makeuseof.com/tag/obd-ii-port-used/

If you’re concerned (or curious) about what data is passed over OBD-II, you can buy your own scanner, $20 to $100 on Amazon depending on features.

Now, MANUFACTURERS, that’s a different deal:

chicagotribune.com/…/sc-auto-tips-0102-driving-da…

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

Telling them that a) dealers don’t have access to telemetry data beyond what’s passed on the vehicle data port and b) providing a news article showing that 3/4 new cars communicate data back to the manufacturers unless you specifically opt out isn’t helpful?

Guessing you didn’t actually read the article?

Queen of Summer’s Twilight by Charles Vess.

I’m more familiar with his work as an artist, especially with Charles De Lint:

agreenmanreview.com/…/circle_viking.jpg

Queen of Summer’s Twilight is his first crack as an author:

goodreads.com/…/61369669-the-queen-of-summer-s-tw…

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

Pretty flowery, like his artwork. :)

Story is similar to other works he’s illustrated for people like Neil Gaiman.

Young woman, growing up in England, isolated by her strict father, looking for information about her mysterious, missing mother.

Looks like she may actually be playing host for the spirit of the Faerie Queen.

I should say too… not a funny game, but for me, the funniest MOMENT in a game:
