I mean the one you do when you want something easy to do, but not when you’re tired at the point you microwave a frozen-meal, or just cut down a piece of cheese and put it in a bread
Pretty neat. This isn’t my area of expertise but I’ve been digitizing some of my families old home movies. The quality is obviously not great, so it’s interesting to hear there may be a reasonable way to improve them.
I’m in the market for a new laptop. Preferably under $2000 and have good specs. 16 GB ram minimum and 500 GB SSD minimum. What recommendations does Lemmy have? If more details are needed please specify what and I’ll answer...
Apologies if I’ve missed this, but it hasn’t popped out to me. Are there shortcuts one can use on a connected keyboard/trackpad that one can use to go back from a post to a community, for example? Like Cmd-[ or Cmd-⬅️? Or swipe with 2 fingers? If not, can this be a feature request?...
Unfortunately, the ghost bikes in my area usually partially block the sidewalk and/or impede maintenance of the infrastructure that is there, making it less safe for everyone. Wish they would stop or find another way.
They do different things. Microblog/follow people vs discussion forum/follow topics. Just because they share a protocol doesn’t mean it’s compatible at a practical or desirable level. I wouldn’t want microblogging coming to Lemmy personally.
This could bring a lot of new users based on the name of the app and past popularity. I don’t use the Play store but will this automatically update over the old Reddit app? Too bad Apollo didn’t pull the same thing.

I’ve had an iPhone 12 mini since launch and the battery life has become pretty abysmal. However, I’m reluctant to replace it with a newer, bigger model. My battery health is sitting at 86%, which really doesn’t sound that bad, but I feel like the actual battery life is way worse than when I bought it. Has anyone replaced...
I’ve been wondering about that too. Specifically how long can old posts persist, and how long are instances compelled to host older content especially from other servers.
How will Lemmy handle illegal content like drug dealing, child porn, snuff movies etc? On Reddit, the corporation is accountable so they will make an effort to ensure non of this exists on their platform. And they would face legal troubles if they failed to act....
I started with Star Trek after watching the Star Trek (2009) movie in college. After that I went wild watching everything I could since I was young with loads of time. I watched most of TOS, all of TNS, all of DS9, all of Voyager, all of Enterprise and all of the movies. I then stopped since I didn't have the time and wasn't...

A driver ran into a ghost bike memorial, and it’s a sad and awful metaphor (cyclingmagazine.ca)
This happened last year, but it’s a reminder that “stray bullets” (i.e. moving vehicles) are still a danger to everyone.
