Doing cross country skiing in the winter cures the winter blues so well. Try to go during the day when the sun is out is even better. You get exercise and really realize how cold out you can still enjoy the winter. Added bonus you get really excited for snow
Sauna especially if you can get out in the cold at the same time. The humid air and heat will warm your bones and then you will really appreciate the freezing cold air. Extra bonus is by doing the temperature extremes your body gets recalibrated so you feel less cold when bundled outside and in your house.
We love our record player. It's soothing to listen to a whole album that's higher quality and to take the time to pick it out. We still stream but it's nice to own something analog
Before I begin, let me just say that I love D&D, have for years. And despite its flaws I love 5E; its probably the most accessible version of D&D I've played... and I've played a fair few versions....
I love the lax world building because I want to make it myself. With the depth of old books, most of which your can get for cheap or free you can look it up if you need to. I also don't live the forgotten realms too much. I do love the adventure without settings books like ghosts of saltmarsh
So like the post says I will have about 30+ people coming over tomorrow. I want to cook this frozen pork shoulder in the slow cooker for pulled pork sandwiches. The thing is 13 pounds. How long and what temp? Also is it even possible?
I've had good luck with this seriouseats recipe that uses Dr. Pepper as a base. However I've only done it for at most 3 pounds of pork which takes 4-6 hours I think.
If you can get multiple crock pots try to split it up and maybe try some different sauces and recipes to make it faster and have people try multiple merhods
I know it’s not even close there yet. It can tell you to kill yourself or to kill a president. But what about when I finish school in like 7 years? Who would pay for a therapist or a psychologist when you can ask for help a floating head on your computer?...
At the end of the day AI (no just the LLM we call AI now) are really good at doing boring machine work. These tasks are repetitive, simple and routine. This includes all the LLM which can summarize boring text and generate more boring text. It can't generate anything new but just output and rearrange.
What there will be always need for are human work. This includes creativity, emotions and human interaction. A machine can't replace that at all. Psychology and therapy are all emotions and human interactions so it might be the most safe career choice. Same with something like haircutting or other career that involve human wisdom and personal skills.
Boring jobs like sending and receiving emails might be replaced. The reason businesses are so scared is that the majority of people in an office just do that
FFG star wars is great. We did a few sessions with my current group and it was pretty fun. Easier online with the automatic counting of successes and failures
I would love to play a retro clone like Old-School Essentials, Labyrinth Lord and Swords & Wizardry. I wanted to try the old school DnD mega dungeon system.
For non-Dnd system I would like to Apocalypse World system like Monster of the Week. I downloaded a new system called Coyote and Crow that seems very interesting. It is set in a North America that was never colonized with some cool magic elements. The setting looks dope but I have no idea about the mechanics. I didn't get that far in my reading of the rules yet
It's hard to really understand what each roll means outside of combat. Like you can fail but have a great success at the same time. The passing of bonus to weaker members during a group check is pretty cool
I have a great idea for a campaign that's roughly based on the Jackie Chan Adventures TV. They got to get the 12 talismans with one talisman per level with those talismans being the magic items.
Great item to throw in a random loot pile. Can fit in a pile of any creature of any CR. Why is it there? It was part of different treasure and no one bothers to use it or get rid of it. It's a dungeon white elephant
Social media is one hell of a drug. It’d have you swallowing giant gummy worms whole at the back of a sip’n’strut. Oh sure, the catharsis is nice, but at some point you’ll need to ask yourself “why are we like this?”...
I used to think that was the case. But Twitter and Facebook show that people can be awful with their full name, address, place of employment up front and center.
That being said I'm glad there's at least some singing. Renee Rapp is super talented and I'm know the rest of the cast is as well. So we should hear their voices
If you can find one in your location we have been trying to shop more at a package free stores. We have found that the cleaning products which we have purchased are generally similar in price and work just as well if not better than we used to use. After living in a city that charged for bags at the grocery store we have gotten used to using a reusable bag for all grocery trips even though lots of items still have the single use plastics in packaging. For those we try to reuse that plastic as small garbage can liners or other uses but most get thrown away.
We have been trying to reduce our consumption in general (the high costs of goods has helped with this). We have been trying to only purchase the high quality long last version of any item instead of the cheapest one available. This has been difficult since the high quality is more expensive and its difficult to find what items are actually worth it instead of a brand name. Overall it difficult but being mindful of it has been helpful
I remember hearing all of the Trump appointees being so angry that no one in DC wanted to date or sleep with them. What did you expect to happen? Taking away women's right isn't the turn on you think it is
Well everyone knows that Alpha males are only in their first round of testing. They should be sent back for updates to become a complete man. Alpha tests never go well
That is a great point and I wish they went further on the better social safety nets. If you really want healthy children that should be the focus regardless of gender of the parent. I think its odd when people talk about how marriage is only for children or you need to be married to have children its gross and so old fashioined.
Navigating interpersonal relationships in a time of evolving gender norms and expectations “requires a level of emotional sensitivity that I think some men probably just lack, or they don’t have the experience,” he added.
I like the quote above about this topic but it does still seem like men are the problem. The problem is that we as a society haven't taught those skills and worse yet reinforce the opposite. We should be concerned with men's internal lives and mold them to fit into modern society
I don't think most people who get married do it for religious reasons or even to start a family in the US anymore. People do it since they see it a formal a commitment and want to announce their love in public.
The current assumptions and expectations that society has about monogamy and commitment are insane. The idea that one person should meet all of your social, relationship and sexual needs is insane. Especially for those people who consider being attracted / look at other people / looking at porn to someone else as cheating. Like you don't stop feeling physical attraction or even get crushes if you are committed. You just don't do anything that violate other peoples trust.
The queer communities take on monogamy and commitment that does have any assumptions is really the best method going forward. Not to mention the removal of gender expectations for house work etc. Its exactly like you described it. An on-going discussion about what your commitment means and what is and isn't allowed. It priories the relationship over everything else.
Exactly. People and relationships should change and mature. We should also look at different measures of success. A couple of was married for 15 years and then got a divorce but don't hate each other. That is a successful relationship but it didn't last an entire lifetime
I don't think that is going to be happening for a long time. It took decades for gays and lesbians. The marrying of a primary partner is the best solution so far.

Exactly. Do better with your money. Hire garden hermits. Make beautiful timeless jewelry or make your own museum. What do they do? Spend it on Super PACs, cars, ugly modern houses and stupid business investments.
My dnd group has a garden hermits outside their base. Well the garden hermits is just one part of the multi personality monster in the basement but same idea
The governments of Colombia and Peru would be that equivalent I guess. So hopefully the Colombian government gives some back to the Peruvian government but I doubt it.

This is great news. It's glad that the government is helping with something that everyone agrees should happen. Take these empty businesses and make them homes. It's about time and I'm glad it's happening
