[WON]: Rumoured talks of CM Punk and WWE (kbin.social)

“Regarding C.M. Punk, there is obviously tons of talk regarding him returning. There have been rumors that it’s happening, but those in WWE have only said that no deal is completed and those close to Punk have told us that it is his intention to return and the two sides are in talks. One would expect if such a deal is made...

hoodlem,

Bizarre. WWE has nothing to gain from this except locker room problems.

hoodlem,

I use Voyager because it is very similar to Apollo. Also, you can self host it.

hoodlem,

Glad I moved completely away from Hue and now use mostly ZWave devices. From the article:

When asked what drove this change, the answer is the usual: security. Well Signify, you know what keeps user data even more secure? Not uploading it all to your cloud. Just allow a smart home to talk to Hue using the local API or Matter.

Security. What a load of nonsense.

hoodlem,

More DW11 for me. Can’t get enough. 😊

hoodlem,

“Divinity”. “Source”

hoodlem,

I backup Proxmox VMs and templates onto my NAS, and from there into the cloud. If you don’t want the cloud maybe auto backup to an external drive and keep it somewhere safe (out of range of a possible disaster to your home)

What is your contingency for when the ISP goes down?

In my ever-ongoing struggle to disentangle myself and my family from our corporate overlords I have gleefully dived into self-hosting and have a little intranet oasis available; media, passwords, backups, files, notes, contacts, calendars – basically everything I needed the Big G suite for at one point, I’m hosting locally,...

hoodlem,

I have a 5g home internet backup connection. My primary internet is fiber, so my thinking if there is a cut somewhere it could also affect cable, so I use over the air as my backup.

hoodlem,

Very well thought out post. It seems like they are considering pretty big measures. I think the next logical place to go for them is to whitelist instead of blacklist. Sucks for self hosters, but in general gives Beehaw what they want.

Moderation tools seem to be the biggest problem for the poster. They also say the devs don’t see it as a priority. They say they’ve even offered bounties to add better tool support. Moderation tools get brought up all the time on Lemmy—I agree that it should be the main focus or development right now TBH.

Should I go with a prebuilt or custom built NAS to get into self hosting?

Hey all, I’ve been doing a bunch of research on selfhosting the last few weeks as I’d love to lean on more open source projects for my daily productivity & entertainment. My main goal is to backup all my personal documents, photos, and videos (around 1tb so far over ~5 years, so not too demanding) and host a few services to...

hoodlem,

I went with a Synology and have been very happy with it. Easy to use, very nice GUI, yet quite powerful with the features provided.

From there I moved on to NUC. I used to host several things through Docker on the Synology but I’m now moving many of those things to the NUC.

hoodlem,

Reminds me of when I vacationed in New Orleans. I passed by the city hall at 9 in the morning and out of the building came several men in suits with Hurricanes in hand. Definitely weren’t the only ones with drinks either.

hoodlem,

Yup. Frodo is seen as the main character but poor Sam does all the work.

hoodlem,

Mehta even appeared briefly confused by some of the references to today’s tech, unable to keep straight if Mozilla was a browser or a search engine. He also appeared unclear about how SEM works and struggled to understand the options for Microsoft to promote Bing ads outside of Google’s SEM tools.

This is not the first thing I have heard troubling about judge Mehta regarding this case. He also ruled that it would not be considered that Google employees and executives purposely destroyed evidence related to the case. It’s not a good sign for the antitrust argument with a judge like this.

hoodlem,

He should have been. Especially after the photos of Abu Ghraib came out. But it is the U.S. so he payed no penalties.

hoodlem,

If you are feeling it is wrong, then it’s not right for you.

I personally don’t have any problem with age differences. Unless the older person is deliberately taking advantage of the younger.

hoodlem,

There’s a lot. In the late 1800s it started becoming something of a tradition for billionaires to move on to philanthropy after their retirement. J.D. Rockefeller was worth several hundred billion dollars in today’s money. He gave away close to 200 billion of it.

A more modern example that people have brought up is Bill Gates.

hoodlem,

the switch to USB-C means the new devices cannot be charged with existing Lightning chargers that they may already own.

Ok, makes sense. Although it was dumb of me I wondered if the phone would come with both ports.

Apple staff will be trained to caution that while a USB-C to USB-C cable is included in the box, a USB-C charger is not

Ugh really? Come on Apple, you’re switching to a new port. Just put the charger in with this one generation at least.

hoodlem,

Yeah, bad list. Use Mastodon.

hoodlem,

I’m surprised it didn’t happen way back after his incident with the Elite.

hoodlem,

Dragon Quest XI is probably the only one I spent most time playing. Going to keep playing it.

Yee haw! Same here for me this weekend.

hoodlem,

It’s a 2D RPG in the style Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger.

Oooh, you have me curious, I’ll look into it

hoodlem,

How could I have forgotten about the Mewtwo raids? I’ll be doing those too.

hoodlem,

Yep I have :-). Right now it seems like I may be close to the end of the game so I am occupying myself with Tinkington stuff and trying to find mini medals.

hoodlem,

LDS leader Lorenzo Snow started tithing in the late 1800s because the church was broke.

Now the church has billions upon billions, but have never stopped tithing. They need that Gen Z’er minimum wage money, right?

hoodlem,

You are right, my bad. Lorenzo Snow presided over a debt crisis and encouraged members to pay tithing, but tithing itself was implemented in 1838 as you said.

hoodlem,

Oh wow I didn’t know. I guess I need to find a real skunk and get sprayed.

hoodlem,

Sanity prevails.

I understand wanting to keep porn away from kids, but this wasn’t the way to do it. A few U.S. states have implemented it.

hoodlem,

Sure, why not. Gotta ban something.

hoodlem,

Actually well said. The elderly on all sides are sending our young boys out there to kill and commit other acts for which they will experience trauma they rest of their lives.

hoodlem,

Nice way of putting it. My feelings and vote exactly.

hoodlem,

I’ll find time to cry about this later today. Condolences to his family for their loss and the anxiety they must have all felt during the heart condition preceding his death.

I know it’s selfish but from my perspective as a fan we’ve lost a brilliant creative person and I will miss seeing him perform.

hoodlem,

I know right?

hoodlem,

Smart home. Probably over 10k over the years

hoodlem,

I haven’t gone that rabbit hole but I probably will 😊. Right now I just have o e ESPhome light bulb

hoodlem,

I was thinking the same thing. Stop storing the images and offload to Imgur or whatever. They likely already have a solution for this issue. Show images inline instead of a link. Looks the same, no liability.

Saying that, this is tremendously cool. I was given pause though by another poster on the thread mentioning the legality of using this in the U.S.

hoodlem,

Ugh, what a mess. Thought about this for a while today and three thoughts started circulating in my head:

  1. Hire an actual lawyer and get firm legal advice on this issue. I think this would fall to the admins, not the devs. Maybe an admin who wanted could volunteer to contact a lawyer? We could do a gofundme for one-time consultation legal fees.
  2. Stop using pictrs completely and instead use links to a third party such as Imgur or whatever. They’re in this business and I’m sure already have dealt with it and have a solution. Yes it sucks that Imgur (or whatever third party) could delete our legitimate images at any time, but IMHO it’s worth it to avoid this headache. At any rate it offloads the liability from an admin. Of course, IANAL and this is a question we would want to ask a lawyer about.
  3. Needing a GPU increases the expenses for an admin significantly. It will start to not be worth it for quite a few to keep their instance running.

Thanks for bringing up this point. This is obviously a nuanced issue that is going to need a well-thought-out solution.

hoodlem,

Phone. I would like to get a dumb phone and switch to using my laptop to limit screen time.

hoodlem,

I just block them. Nothing wrong with them—I’m just not interested in the topic.

hoodlem,

I think he’s dead. But I didn’t know about the body double thing. The thing is, all of Wagner leadership getting on a plane together and flying over Russia seems so, pardon me, idiotic. So idiotic that now I know about the body doubles I am questioning the whole situation now.

hoodlem,

I’m embarrassed and a little ashamed I lol’d at that. Being a body double is a pretty crummy vocation.

hoodlem,

The Mole: Undercover in North Korea

Putting that on my watch list now, thanks!

hoodlem,

There is no Hiroshima scene in the movie, anon, unless I somehow completely missed it? The detonation shown is the first test bomb and was in New Mexico.

Anyway, I guess point is Koreans hate the Japanese or something? Is that a thing I didn’t know about?

hoodlem,

Good lord, never knew. 94%, that means that virtually everyone walking down the street has a problem with the Japanese on some level.

hoodlem,

I’ll have to watch it again! I wouldn’t mind, it was a good movie.

hoodlem,

LMAO. So, so true and I have no problem with it. Self-hosted seems to be one of the most active communities on Lemmy. I learn a lot and y’all all seem cool.

hoodlem,

Nothing. Unless it’s for a product I exceptionally like (count=1) I just allow bug reports.
