donut4ever,

I’ve found Plex to be the best option. Available on Samsung, too.

YSK that YouTube shadow bans people (for a time) + implications to creators

I’m having my comments I made the past few days receive zero engagements. It’s not just me losing the early bird lottery too; my replies to a highly engaged comment has zero likes, while several comments immediately after me has double digits. It’s nothing incendiary at all, just normal people’s comments. But something...

donut4ever,

I’ve noticed this for a long time, but never really cared. Also, on some accounts, it just removes my comment completely until I manipulate it to not piss off the gods

donut4ever,

It sucks that apple solder everything on their laptops. I want to get one.

donut4ever,

Yup. I just can’t buy a machine that has nothing repairable/replaceable on it.

donut4ever,

That’s a dream. I’d get one for sure

donut4ever,

It has been working flawlessly on my desktop. That one has all Intel, though. Also, now on ext4, I have zero issues and this laptop has Nvidia. So crazy.

donut4ever,

I highly doubt it’s a distro issue. I’ve tried both endeavourOS and fedora. Two totally different distro distros with two different DEs. Literally the same exact thing. I honestly suggest that you back up your system and switch from btrfs to ext4 and see if that works. Just to investigate.

donut4ever,

On a laptop? I have, too, but on a desktop. This issue only happens on the laptop

donut4ever,

I created a 16 GB swap partition and chose “swap” in the file type when partitioning

donut4ever,

Swap partition. Do I need to make a swap file for it to work? Also, this happens even without Nvidia drivers installed.

donut4ever,

Running ext4 on both home and root partitions fixed the issue completely for me WITH Nvidia installed and envcontrol to switch between Intel and Nvidia. The issue is gone. Poof. System is solid AF now. Btw, gnome has gotten so sexy lately. Haven’t tried it in a long time.

donut4ever,

I think it starts acting up when there is nvidia in the mix. I don’t think framework has nvidia, does it?

donut4ever,

Sda was the old drive that I already removed. If has a lot of cycles and it is about to die pretty soon. The new one is nvme and shows as nvme in the system. Not sure where to change those things from sata to whatever works.

donut4ever,

I used timeshift. I don’t remember if the freeze happened before or after I used it. The whole point of me using btrfs is to use timeshift and snapshots. I was never able to figure out snapper

donut4ever,

Try installing timeshift and take some snapshots

donut4ever,

No worries.

donut4ever,

I have a dell Inspiron 7573 2 in 1. 4k screen with hybrid graphics Intel/Nvidia mx130 My laptop doesn’t support LVFM on Linux. So, for the SSD I had to get into Windows and update, but it doesn’t matter since I’ve replaced it with this one. Bios is latest since I’m able to update through a thumb drive. It’s the new nvme drive that doesn’t like btrfs. It’s working flawlessly now on ext4. Nvidia installed and all. Zero issue. I’ll be missing out on snapshots, but oh well

donut4ever,

This is possibly the best thing YouTube could do to make this app bearable

On the flip side, this also means users have the option to have a cleaner, less cluttered interface.

That’s what I’m hoping for.

donut4ever,

Damn, I didn’t know that. :/

donut4ever,

If I could install the damn thing, I WOULD run Gentoo. Furthest I got was install the base system. I was never able to install a DE. 😂

donut4ever,
donut4ever,

It means exactly what it says. A space for secular Arabic speaking folks to hang out without the noise of religion that we Arabs are drowned in. Doesn’t mean religious people can’t participate, they can, but no religion discussions. Also doesn’t mean non-arabic speakers can’t hang out :)

donut4ever,

Welcome aboard. Don’t hesitate to ask/post there when you have questions.

donut4ever,

Never understood what this question meant.

donut4ever,

Thanks for confusing me further

donut4ever,

Firefox is very busy at the top. It has like 2 or 3 layers, one for the tabs, another for the bookmarks. This person removed the extra crap and gained some space on the top of their browser window.

donut4ever,

Why is everyone going wild? What’s going on?

donut4ever,

I did last night. Tried Fedora for a couple of days to just “diversify” my shit, but nope, the laptop kept waking up to a black screen every single time I opened the lid. Was like you know what fuck you, let me install Arch. It’s now running perfectly.

donut4ever,

Whoever says that is either just a hater/bitter or just never tried Arch. I DOES just work. I’ve had it on my desktop for a whole year now. I have never had to use timeshift to restore. I never had to spend all day to fix shit. It just worked this whole time. One thing that annoys me about it is the constant updates I get. Lol. But I just ignore them and do it once a week or so.

donut4ever,

Sounds like they’re using free and open source sentiment to raise money, to keep users who in turn bring in revenue from Google so they can do “activism”. I don’t know this as a fact, but a personal conclusion from past events and reading this article, Mozilla is a social justice activist company. I can’t say it is good or bad because I don’t know details of what they do.

donut4ever,

That’s exactly why I said I can’t say it’s good or bad because I don’t know the details. But if that’s what they’re doing (which kind of seems like it from what I’ve seen so far), then that’s good. We do need a big corporation on our side to fight to rest of them. Again, I don’t know for certain, but I am going to be positive about it because I haven’t seen too much bad from them. Their good has outweighed their bad so far. So

donut4ever,

Yeah, gnome is actually sexy AF. I couldn’t resist but put it on my laptop and keep plasma on the desktop.

donut4ever,

It’s still very customizeable. I have a different shell, a different set of icons, a different UI theme through gradience. I also have dynamic and day/night wallpapers. What else does one need to customize? I think that’s more than enough for me. I do have a couple of extensions installed, but it honestly covers all of what I need to customize. I’m a very happy camper. Even battery life has gotten better than before

donut4ever,

In 'Merica, they’ll just let people starve and live on the streets. They’ll need to pull those bootstraps harder.

donut4ever, (edited )

I can think of three apps that I have used and liked (since you didn’t mention that you tried that them already) Cpod, Kasts and Vocal. See if any of them works for ya

donut4ever,

Damn. Sorry you’re going through this. See if gnome’s podcasts works for ya? Btw, cpod works for me just fine on fedora. I actually just tried it. I got it as a flatpak, though Maybe try the flatpak app and see if that works? 🤞

donut4ever,

That’s awesome. So glad you found something to work with :)

donut4ever,

They are finally catching up to what Apple has been for years “my users’ data is only mine, no one else’s” and people are comfy there.

donut4ever,

Absolutely, but I’m talking about your average joe who is very comfortable under mama apple wing

donut4ever,

Lol. That’s me trying to help my wife. She’s so invested in the “ecosystem”. She watches all these ads on YouTube and doesn’t let me touch her phone to help block that shit. So frustrating

donut4ever,

“Protect the children” only from the things we deem bad. If they are homeless, hungry, live with parents who struggle to put food on the table? “Nah, they need to pull themselves by their bootstraps” I hate the GOP with a burning passion

donut4ever,

That’s a mystery that we will forever chase.

donut4ever,

This Lewis Capaldi dude. He can freaking sing, man.

donut4ever,

I mean, they have home feed, too.

donut4ever,

Sponsorblock is actually on mobile now? Nice
