donut4ever,

If you have an android phone, you have plenty of options. There YouTube revanced, freetube, newpipe, music and plenty others. They all have recommendations and are front end of the YouTube app.

donut4ever,

I have it with an adblocker. It’s neat, but nothing really special. Still has some quirks. Things load very slowly. Almost too much customizations. Lol I have been enjoying Voyager a lot. I also have 5 other apps I’m testing and it is now down between thunder and voyager.

donut4ever,

Yeah, this subscription for everything is getting out of hand now a days. Thankfully, we have a bunch of other solid Lemmy apps. All free and open source. You can donate to the devs here and there when you can, but I ain’t paying monthly for a social media app while a ton free others exist.

donut4ever,

Voyager is amazing. I’m now battling between it and thunder. I’ve been using Voyager a lot more than thunder.

donut4ever,

😂 nailed it. There are other amazing apps that are completely free

donut4ever,

Thunder is a very good app. I’ve been testing it on both Android and iOS. It’s been solid. Still missing a thing or two and has some issues, but it is really nice. I do like voyager a lot, too

donut4ever,

It’s fine that you’re supporting the dev, but I didn’t feel comfortable seeing the trackers are google and Amazon. I mean, I know they’re everywhere in our lives, but I can’t just add more spying to my life.

donut4ever,

Not sure why it only happens on this app, though. I have other apps that load instantly

donut4ever,

Anyone knowledgeable enough to know if a quantum computer can still crack those passcodes?

donut4ever,

Sounds badass.

donut4ever,

Yup, I’ve been testing it for a while now. Dude chose codeberg out all of these sites. Could’ve gone to gitlab, but nope, codeberg it is. I don’t want to create yet a new account with another site. Lol So, I’ve just linked it through obtainium and I’ve been getting all the alpha releases. Coming along nicely

donut4ever,

Totally understandable, but not go to gitlab? I mean, codeberg doesn’t look bad either.

donut4ever,

I see. Well then codeberg here I come

donut4ever,

I feel like I wrote this article. Lol

Btw, here is a fully functional and gorgeous website that has zero JavaScript linuxmint.com

donut4ever,

Really? If so, then that YouTuber fucking lied about it. I personally never checked. I trusted the bastard 😂. Iirc, it was the “this week in Linux” channel.

donut4ever,

That’s why you never just download and install random shit from the Internet. You gotta know and trust your source. I sidelaod all the time. Never had an issue, I just don’t grab random shit from random sites.

donut4ever,

Lmfao. They took the money and peaced the fuck out. This country is turning into a sewer. So fucking rotten to the core.

donut4ever,

If apple allowed sideloading apps, I’d get an iPhone. I hate everything about Google. I try my best not to use the play store. I rely mostly on F-droid, obtainium and aurora store.

donut4ever,

Oh I know that method. It’s just stupid and annoying. I actually paid for the YouTube++ app and used it that way. Just got tired of resigning. Also, jailbreaking was amazing on iOS.

donut4ever,

That would be fantastic

donut4ever,

I ran Manjaro for over a year. It’s considerably slower than endeavourOS. I don’t know why, but the system was always sluggish and always broke for me. Also, I don’t think that their stable branch is a rolling release anymore. They wait over a month to push updates, sometimes even longer. I’ve been running EOS for about a year now. Zero issues. Light as hell. You may have to install some things, but I like it a lot. And if you don’t feel comfortable using the terminal all the time, just install octopi. Some people hate it, but I love it. Much better than Manjaro’s buggy Pamac. Only downside of octopi is that it doesn’t support flatpaks. For that I’ve installed discover with the packegkit and I’m good on flatpak. It also works very well with the AUR/EOS/Arch repos.

yay -S octopi

is all you need for it, btw.

Not to knit pick nitpick, but isn’t that juice sugary?

donut4ever,

Lmao. It actually is. English isn’t my first language. I’ll fix it. Much appreciated.

donut4ever,

True, but sugar is sugar. Fruit with very little fiber like grapes aren’t as healthy as you may think when they’re consumed in a larger quantity. Fiber slows the absorption of sugar in the small intestines, so grapes aren’t really that healthy. It’s still sugar. So, your average organic fruit juice is still bad for ya because it’s just pure sugar, and sugar in general is just not good for our bodies.

donut4ever,

That’s your choice, but you said in your post “heart healthy”, so you HAVE to listen to our lectures 😂

donut4ever,

Fine 😂

donut4ever,

Calm your tits. I’m personally having fun and don’t care what you put in your body. It’s your choice. Just please be aware when you post something not healthy online and call it “healthy”, because some of those “Internet experts” do know what the hell they’re talking about and WILL call you out. And if that hurts your feefees, then the internet is not for you, buddy. Just sayin’. Bon apetit

donut4ever,

Well, good then. I couldn’t tell from all the flying fucks you’ve thrown everywhere. Text isn’t a good expression delivery method. My apologies if I offended you in anyway. I’m here to JUST have fun and learn from others. I honestly don’t want the reddit toxicity here at all.

donut4ever,

Noted

donut4ever,

Damn, all that? You sure as hell deserve that juice, my friend. Enjoy it.

Meta Just Proved People Hate Chronological Feeds (www.wired.com)

Meta conducted an experiment where thousands of users were shown chronological feeds on Facebook and Instagram for three months. Users of the chronological feeds engaged less with the platforms and were more likely to use competitors like YouTube and TikTok. This suggests that users prefer algorithmically ranked feeds that show...

donut4ever,

I love how it’s now “okey” for a private company to conduct experiments/studies on people. What the actual fuck!

donut4ever,

I was gonna get mad you at first, but then you provided some sweet links. 😂 Thank you. And also good luck to abode. The more competition the better.

donut4ever,

It will never happen as long as there is injustice in the world. Also, there isn’t a perfect world where justice is 100% served. A good book to read about that (political book, but goes through the us vs them) is “why we are polarized” by Ezra Klein.

donut4ever,

Lmao. The US basically had has the worst internet, speeds and prices wise. WE HAVE CAPS!!!

What can we do to keep the web open?

@asklemmy

donut4ever, (edited )

As many people as people possible need to use Firefox.

donut4ever,

If it’s a random site, then fuck it, I’ll just not visit it again. That’s their issue, not mine. If it is something important, I’d try changing the user agent. That works most of the time.

donut4ever,

Brave IS chrome. Same engine and shit. We need to eliminate the one engine monopoly. Very few people know the actual value of Firefox’s existence. It does suck at times. It’s not the greatest browser out there, but it NEED to keep existing if we want to save the web from Google’s Monopoly

donut4ever,

That’s understandable. It’s not a crime to use chrome when you have to. Shit happens, but as long as you’re aware of the importance of Firefox, you’re good. I use brave and Vivaldi all the time on certain things, but my main browser for everything else is Firefox.

Stop KOSA. Why the KOSA Bill is Dangerous and Should be Rejected (www.stopkosa.com)

KOSA is a bill that aims to protect children online but it would do so in harmful ways. First, it would pressure platforms to install content filters that would censor large amounts of content, including important suicide prevention and LGBTQ+ support resources. Content filters have a history of overblocking important...

donut4ever,

WHY ARE “THE CHILDREN” ONLINE!!! Where are their fucking parents?

donut4ever,

I was, too, but agree with me or disagree, the intern back then wasn’t as bad as it is right now.

donut4ever,

Same here, overworked and underpaid, two kids. Neither has a smartphone nor has access to any social media site beside kids YouTube and Netflix. I meant kids shouldn’t be on social media, in my original comment. I always utilize the iPad for my daughter when I’m working or need her to sit so I can get shit done. My son, who’s the oldest, doesn’t have a phone yet. He has two gaming consoles, neither of them has online access for multiplayer. That’s what I mean by why are kids on the internet.

donut4ever,

No, I have them both locked up in a cage in the middle of the Pacific ocean 😂 My friend, there is a whole world out there beside this virtual one (internet). My son goes outside all the time to play with his friends IN PERSON. Rides his bike with them, does sleep overs and whatever we did back in the day when we were kids. He just doesn’t have any social media accounts. I have a full Linux PC sitting in his bedroom that he can do whatever he wants on. I just make sure he’s safe on there. I have a firewall on there and an ad blocker on the browser. My daughter is special needs, so, that’s another story :)

donut4ever,

Thank you. The key thing is that I didn’t make it “I’m your parent and I control your life”, no, I reasoned with him and explained to him whatever we do. I have built a very good friendship with my son that he trusts me when I do something for him. I’ll never make him feel that I control his life or what he does on the PC, I’ve just made him aware of things. Not gonna lie, though, we do have one strict rule, no social media of any kind. Also, I’m too lazy to type all of this again, but here is my response to another commenter when they asked if my kid has a social life in real life (basically, they were worried that I’m caging my kids lol).

donut4ever,

That’s what I was thinking. I never knew that we didn’t need a visa. Lol

donut4ever,

We love to overcharge on everything.

donut4ever,

And I’m leaving the chat. I don’t have health insurance and the name “hospital” scares me.

donut4ever,

This is the saddest fucking thing in the world. Why? Why does our government hate us this much? And we are we just a bunch of fucking pussies that we accept their beating all the time?
