dhtseany,

Cool now talk about how shitty banks block auto-fill on their login forms which keeps you from using it with your password managers. Oh, and no, you can’t paste into those fields either cuz “security”.

dhtseany,

You just beat me to saying the same thing, I’m also in the market and I’m watching for sub-$200 units, especially for a unit that’s only got the 64GB storage in it.

dhtseany,

What if I just want my phone’s text messaging app to only do text messages? What if I don’t want fluff features like voice messages that I didn’t ask for? Is there a simple vanilla text messaging app to take over texts on my phone since Google feels the need to add extra weight to Messages, an otherwise simple feature that all cell phones share?

dhtseany,

I remember when they had a big long-arc that was spread intelligently across all of the movies that built up to Endgame. I think they’ve forgotten this.

dhtseany,

I’m sure everyone in China will love them

dhtseany,

What does the belt signify?

McDonald's prices are out of control. (cdn.masto.host)

Gee, it’s almost like corporations are gouging consumers so badly that their market advantages are being lost due to greed. Inflation this quickly isnt real. It’s what happens when you come off a global pandemic with millions dead and corporations see they can freely abuse you by exploiting the public zeitgeist that prices...

dhtseany,

In Ohio it’s become so bad that it’s literally cheaper to feed a family of four at a sit down family restaurant than eating at our local McDonald’s and the food is measurably better at the mom and Pop places than what you get at McDonald’s. It’s just not worth it and they pay their people nothing so the food comes out wrong or cold because they just don’t care.

We gave up on McDonald’s some time ago and it’ll take a lot for us to go back, starting with the removal of those "Now hiring: $14/hr!" signs out front that have been there for years. If y’all pay your people that little it’s a sign to me as a consumer that my food isn’t going to be made by people who care so why even bother?

Also screw those self-ordering kiosks, those only exist because y’all are under-staffed and you’re trying to make up for the missing staff by passing off the ordering part to the consumers instead of hiring more people.

dhtseany,

Look, I get you’re pissed at the service changes and you’re right to be mad but you’re starting to basically spam post, my dude. At this point you’re every other post on my feed. Lemmy is a lot smaller than Reddit and your posts are showing up everywhere. Please chill.

dhtseany,

I dunno, I’m the IT guy in the group and I had a couple of non-techy friends as well as 2 different family members hitting me up for instructions on how to fix it. This bugged a lot of regular people and I had a hand in correcting it for all of them, I don’t think they were just uninstalling the adblockers, they were either reinstalling them or replacing them with other adblockers.

dhtseany,

Science cannot explain this

dhtseany, (edited )

I agree with you 100% and highlighting text and choosing the new tab option isn’t always viable. I often have to copy text from outside the browser and paste it into the address bar, I really miss that feature of Chrome.

Edit: why the down votes? He makes a fair point that some of you are disagreeing with without considering that there are those out there that use their browsers differently than yourself. Even if I used Firefox as my primary browser for the last 3 years I’m still able to be honest about my experience.

dhtseany,

All of the selfish things I’m learning from the comments in this thread about what Microsoft has been doing with their console such as banning aftermarket tech like controllers or generic SSDs is why I finally quit buying consoles entirely years ago and why I stopped paying for Xbox live. Enshitification is a real thing, my dudes.

dhtseany,

Well luckily for me I’m running Arch Linux so no concern there

dhtseany,

For a bit now, press+hold the tab you want to move and it’ll let you do it.

This procedure is banned in the US. Why is it a hot topic in fight over Ohio's abortion amendment? (apnews.com)

In ads, debates and public statements, the opposition campaign and top Republicans have increasingly been referencing “partial-birth abortions” as an imminent threat if voters approve the constitutional amendment on Nov. 7. “Partial-birth abortion” is a non-medical term for a procedure known as dilation and extraction,...

dhtseany,

I mean it’s easier to just say “they make shit up scare voters to vote in their favor”

dhtseany,

That’s what I was thinking about as well: munitions like rockets contain a crap load of bad chemicals in them, what’s this doing to the fields used for food crops?

dhtseany,

This is the exact argument I’ve made to my wife with varying degrees of success: we literally listened to him outright admit to how much of a piece of shit he is in his lyrics and it’s weird to suddenly act like “omg! What a surprise!” when we’ve been singing his lyrics like “Me vs. Madonna vs. Everyone Else” off Deja Entendu since forever ago. And I’m generally pretty left-leaning with a low tolerance for rapey bullshit but come on guys.

dhtseany,

Sounds like a party that isn’t unified.

We need more choices.

This 2-party nonsense is bad for America.

dhtseany,

And even then Proton will probably let them run just fine in Linux.

dhtseany,

That was sort of an asshole comment if we’re being honest with each other. We’re here talking about climate change, not WW2.

dhtseany,

Sure, so when there’s an article about Japan’s population declining do you comment insightful things about them getting nuked? You sound like a wanna-be edgy 16 year old twat.

dhtseany,

Windows Vista? Yuck! At least it runs Firefox well enough! I’ll see myself out

dhtseany,

Seriously, look at what the pkgbuild is doing on Arch and replicate it by hand on your distro of choice. That’s all a pkgbuild is: a simple bash installation script.

dhtseany,

That is a very nice looking cat

dhtseany,

I’m getting tired of Google’s UI decisions all around and whoever sets these company wide design mandates needs fired quickly before they do even more lasting damage.

Solved - Strange Extrusions (lemmy.world)

Ive been trying to get my 3D printer to print properly since upgrading my Ender 3 Pro with an all metal direct drive hot end. I calibrated my esteps perfectly and they’re spot on, beds leveled although there is a bit of a dip in the middle, and my slicer has the right settings for this PLA that is new and just opened from the...

dhtseany,

I second the jam idea, it’s probably a clogged nozzle.

dhtseany,

I hope the bots are helping with that ad revenue you were so concerned about milking from the user base with your shitty app. Was it worth it, dumbass?

dhtseany,

Gonna turn your blood to sand!

dhtseany,

The hardware sounds interesting but $1000 for what’s ultimately just a simplified Surface Pro with regular Linux running on it is a bit steep IMHO.

dhtseany,

Unpopular opinion: flatpaks enable lazy developers to keep old versions of required Python dependencies working longer.

dhtseany,

Yes.

dhtseany,

Water marks in the dead nuts middle of any video are the devil’s work and you can’t convince me otherwise.

dhtseany,

Jesus Christ wtf, who would do that to their own kid?

Another pick me a distro

Hello, fellow internet users. I am currently using Debian but would like a distro to try the new Gnome on. I have been using Debian for a while and I love the stability, but would like newer packages. I also, for no rational reason, would like to be able to use the default package manager exclusively. I used Fedora before and...

dhtseany,

I vote Arch. Yeah, yeah, but it taught me Linux better than any other distro. Yeah you can break it but that’s kinda the point because once you’ve figured out what went wrong you’re left knowing how to fix it again in the future.

The Arch Wiki is second to none, is kept updated promptly when things change with the relevant package to the page you’re reading and in many cases it’s literally referenced as a source for other Non-Arch distro’s documentation

Btw I use Arch.

Edit: I also, for no rational reason, would like to be able to use the default package manager exclusively. I mean sure, you can use makepkg manually with the AUR so Arch still applies but that’s pretty inconvenient. If you go with Arch and give up this part I recommend yay as my aur-helper of choice.

dhtseany,

They make it sound like it was some huge fentanyl bust when in reality we’re talking about synthetic weed.

dhtseany,

Well don’t leave us hanging!

…and?

dhtseany,

Lol at the mute icon on a static meme

dhtseany,

Some of the best sci-fi came from this era!

dhtseany,

Restoring filters and fixing the missing saved content bug. But even more important you should be improving your build process’ release cycle so you can push out fixes out before new features. I don’t want more fluff right now, I want the app I paid for to work as advertised. It’s been over a month and I’m starting to consider other free competitors.
