I like how not even the “/s” saved you from the brainless.

You know we can detect every application you have through tools like Nessus, right? Your IT guys are either morons or they just let you get away with it because it’s easier than hearing people pitch a fit about software they’re not allowed to use.

c0mbatbag3l,
@c0mbatbag3l@lemmy.world avatar

Time? You just set it to scan every host on your Active Directory. It’s like a ten minute setup and spits out a report when you’re done.

Yeah, you’re definitely the guy they hate but don’t get paid enough to fight. Security risks users are usually too much of a pain to deal with so we just tell our supervisors that you’ll end up ransomware’ing the company one day and let them handle it from there if they care enough.

Great cities are handled, now how do we make rural areas work without cars?

c0mbatbag3l,

Yeah but it’s still a hand held, that kind of power isn’t expected.

If you’re getting the work done you’re getting the work done.

Bottom line is that companies don’t pay you for being more productive, so you have to pay yourself by working two at the same time and getting both done. If you fail to perform, sure, get fired. As long as the product is there, it’s just a worker ensuring they are getting the money they deserve for their production capacity.

c0mbatbag3l,
@c0mbatbag3l@lemmy.world avatar

The layoffs are a power grab against wage increases. Companies have been reporting record profits for years, inefficient my ass.

If you can do your allotted work in less time you’re just more productive, if a company gave a shit about this they could solve the problem by having a direct compensation increase for work load increase. After all, the employment negotiation happened in the interview. Responsibilities and compensation are already decided upon, it’s insane that you can just be handed more work because you’re too good to do the work they gave you slow enough. If the workers actually had power in the negotiation like free market morons think they do, they’d be able to adjust their own salary when the employer adjusts their workload. Since they can’t, the balance of power is obviously squarely in the employers court.

Want them to do more? Pay them more and then give them more responsibilities. It’s so easy to solve, but companies think they can just extract more effort for the same dollar they agreed upon when the employee was hired. Ludicrous.

StarCraft could return, according to Blizzard president, but not necessarily as an RTS (www.pcgamer.com)

While Blizzard is very much focussed on its big money-makers like its various Warcraft games, from WoW to Hearthstone to Warcraft Rumble, as well as Diablo and the much-maligned Overwatch 2, he’s still open to StarCraft making a comeback. That said, RTS fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. While the series might return, that...

StarCraft extraction shooter confirmed.

Did racist use the "biological advantage" argument when Black athletes started competing alongside white athletes?

Given that racists and slavers used the “natural physical strength” of black people to justify putting them on hard labor and some medics still think that blacks has higher resistance to pain, I wonder if when black athletes started to join mixed race sport teams, some racist would have used the same “biological...

Your still have a bone, ligament and muscle structure that developed under testosterone, I don’t think that just “goes away” once you remove the hormones that brought it on in the first place.

If it were true, though, it would be a good way to solve the problem of competition.

Libertarians are morons in their own right but the core philosophy of libertarianism (in the political compass sense) is the opposite of authoritarianism, which is where fascism stems from. A group that doesn’t want centralized government can’t also want a centralized government that enforces sociopolitical ideology.

The more you throw around the word “fascist” to mean “anything right of me that I don’t like” the more the word loses meaning and becomes like the “communist” rallying cry of the boomers.

c0mbatbag3l,
@c0mbatbag3l@lemmy.world avatar

True, but are they actual libertarians, then? Wouldn’t they just be conservatives? You can call yourself whatever you want, actions are what define you.

Boeing and Raytheon are military contractors, and the US has characteristically kept itself in or around global conflict in order to continue handing out multi-billion dollar contracts to these companies (and more like them.) Weapons/Platform manufacturing and sales is a large portion of our economic output.

Not at all, there are a lot of third party spots stores for Android and getting them working isn’t that difficult.

Apple allows nothing but their store, peroid.

Seems like we’re focused on the wrong app store here.

This rage bait bullshit was debunked a long time ago, they never claimed 10 would be last and there’s no official word on 12 being Saas, all of this shit is just mad-boy anger fuel.

Did you put the application in the start menu during install?

Linux-onlyists have a tendency to not learn how anything works and then blame the “bad workflow” of the OS, so it’s kind of difficult to just assume you didn’t make a mistake.

c0mbatbag3l,
@c0mbatbag3l@lemmy.world avatar

He probably just didn’t have the program in the start menu, it’s a box you check in the wizard.

Vulcans use “logic” to disguise their emotional attachments frequently in the show. They claim something is logical when it’s a purely emotional situation and logic doesn’t really apply. Not that Tuvok personally has those tendencies.

Tuvok’s character arc heavily involves him realizing that he’s got to have a little bit more of an understanding of emotions in other species, since he is third in command and Voyager will be without support for years if not decades. He’s showing empathy but only stating facts, his child is in a similar situation and Ensign Wildman has done a good job in raising Naomi. He knows hope is important to her ability to function in the situation and he alleviates her concerns as quickly as he can merely by pointing out the truth and explaining to her why she shouldn’t fear the outcome.

He’s developing his leadership skills as it pertains to other species, not just the leadership that works with Vulcans.

c0mbatbag3l,
@c0mbatbag3l@lemmy.world avatar

He’s also coming to the realization that if their trip home takes as long as predicted it’s likely that he will be Captain by journey’s end. First and second are adults humans in their 40’s and he’s got plenty of years left on him as a Vulcan. It’s unlikely that Janeway or Chakotay won’t be too old to really do the job in 50/60 years time.

He can’t afford to just be a security officer, he needs to start thinking about command and the additional skills he must develop to become Captain in every sense. That means adjusting to the differences in the way the two jobs are concerned with personnel and mental well-being. Captain is more than just the ability to take charge in a combat situation and be successful, but the long term devotion to crew and ship on a personal/loyalty level which Tuvok doesn’t display in the early seasons. He’s far too pragmatic for it, additionally he distances from personal relationships which a Captain must have with their department heads.

What you’re doing here is subtly shifting the burden of phone addiction from software companies and phone manufacturers back onto end users.

I thought you were being satirical at first but then I realized you genuinely believe an individual has zero personal responsibility whatsoever. Lemmy is filled with children.

This isn’t the housing market or alcohol, just don’t install or doom scroll social media. Jesus Christ, nanny state garbage.

The point is that it’s all processed and premade, that’s why it costs so much. Make your own beef patties with ground beef and some seasonings, just bake a damn dessert for once and stop getting the fancy artisanal bread and just go with whole wheat.

Nothing about that requires eating rice and beans, you just don’t want to accept that some shit requires effort and when you outsource that you pay more.

Yeah food costs an insane amount, but you don’t have to buy the “we did the work for you” tier of food if your income can’t handle it. You’re not entitled to having everything done for you. Learn to goddamn cook.

c0mbatbag3l,
@c0mbatbag3l@lemmy.world avatar

“Meat addiction” lol

c0mbatbag3l,
@c0mbatbag3l@lemmy.world avatar

Just because a group of people who have to massively inconvenience themselves and spend four times longer eating their daily calories than someone who gets their protein from meat can do it doesn’t mean that meat is suddenly a “choice” and not necessary.

That’s like saying because some people can ride their bicycles everywhere that cars and public transit are “purely a choice.” You think everyone can live life like you, and have no conceptualization that most of humanity doesn’t live in your location with access to your grocery options and your lifestyle.

That’s before we even get into things like how vegan men often suffer from ED and eating meat virtually instantly cures them. Good luck putting on any muscle as a vegan unless you have no job and can spend all day shoveling buckets if quinoa and lentils down your throat for six straight hours.

c0mbatbag3l,

You’re sure that it has nothing to do with the fact that he’s a professional bodybuilder/strongman and makes so much money from competitions that he can afford to spend all day eating food and working out? Which I directly accounted for?

Unfortunately I also can’t play the games I spend the most time on, so it’s really only good for single player machines I don’t intend to be MP’ing on.

Basically my travel laptop is a Linux machine now, steam deck of course, but the desktop has to stay windows until anticheat for certain games is GNU/Linux compatible.

You’re forgetting one thing, Amazon has no real competition. Do you have a cloud service that makes you profit hand over fist so that you can dump that money into a loss leader service like amazon delivery?

No?

Well then they’re going to undercut you to the point of zero profit margin to suffocate your business.

eBay all the way, boys and girls.
