ublock origin is still one step ahead of them (at least on firefox) but you may need to go into the extension settings and purge then update all your filter lists.

I’ll add another option that is great for people trying out Linux for the first time (though it’s great for seasoned Linux folks, too): ZorinOS. It’s based on Ubuntu LTS, but has a few beginner friendly options and features straight out of the box. Note that there is an optional “pro” version if you like to support development, but it’s completely optional.

After dragging my feet for years I finally moved back to Firefox a few weeks ago. Sure, there’s a few features I miss from Chrome/Edge (vertical tabs, PWA support, tab groups, etc.) but I was able to ‘fix’ many issues with extensions and a custom userchrome.css, and trust is ultimately more important to me.

I’m thankful there are still free, open, privacy respecting options out there.

I still think about the one where a guy who works on an airport touches a floor fan that just so happens to be wired wrong or something. And that’s it, that’s the fluke, unexpected, undignified, awful, freak accident end of his life. All his hopes and dreams cut short because he touched a fan in passing. And then a clip of his death ends up on the internet for a bunch of cringe lords to crack lame jokes at. I can’t really shake that one.

It’ll be the final nail. Traffic to the site will plummet because the vast majority of users will not want to pay and search engines like Google will no longer be able to index links to tweets, which of course will drive away the remaining advertisers. This is another disastrous move in a relentless string of bad moves by big brain musk. I have to admit that it really starts to look like he’s doing this on purpose. Anyone with more than 2 brain cells should see this coming, even an idiot like musk.
