I am super sick right now and haven’t eaten much in a few days. It’s getting to the point where I am gonna need to force myself to eat something to keep my strength up but everything just sounds terrible to me right now. I have been subsisting mostly on small glasses of milk and the occasional packet of instant oatmeal....
Would love to know what you guys think and your reasoning for it. I’m starting to see a lot of Apple Watches/Fitbits/Galaxy Watches in my area compared to more traditional timepieces.
I have only one problem with that: no other browser is capable of Casting (as in Chromecast to an Android TV). Trust me, I heard and tried ALL the suggestions there is. And no, I don’t want to cast the whole phone screen, JUST the browser or the medium playing inside it. You know, science-kind media for my friend.
Don’t get me started on that! My wife is the same. I recommend a show, multiple times. Nope, not interested. But as soon as one of her girlfriends even mentions it that she should check it out “Okay, we should start watching that show!” THAT’S WHAT I RECOMMENDED FOR YEARS NOW!
Is it shallow, or petty, to decide based on name alone? Yeah, pretty much, but there’s probably something, a product or service or site, that the name has made you gloss right over it or jump to it ASAP....
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
I don’t really hate them. I have a Pixel, I use almost all of their consumer products and mostly I really like them. They are mature products with a lot of features and mostly reliable. Heck I even have Location History always turned on. It’s good on Saturday afternoons to see where the hell I was blackout drunk on Friday. Jokes aside I like to see in what countries or cities I was in 15 years ago. One exception is Chrome, which got way too big and needs some serious competition.
What bothers me is *mostly *on app level, not on corporate Google level. What I do not like on corporate level though is:
they kill everything I start to like (Inbox, Google Reader)
they cannot create a single unified message service right (see also point 1)
they don’t have an ad-free paid tier for Google One. Like one where you don’t see any ads in any of their products (not even sponsored links on search, no promotion in gmail, no YT ads, no nothing). I would pay serious money for it.
The long fight to make Apple’s iMessage compatible with all devices has raged with little to show for it. The law, which goes into effect in 2024, requires...
In my opinion, ALL nessaging apps should be compatible with each other. It should be like email, just different clients on the same protocol. I know it won’t happen anytime soon (if ever in my life), but I’d like that. And we should start somewhere. Maybe here.

Speakers of non-English languages, what common mistakes do native speakers make that drive you crazy?
For example, English speakers commonly mix up your/you’re or there/their/they’re. I’m curious about similar mistakes in other languages.
